International viewers seem to really like it, but Chinese gamers got big mad about it because of plagiarism claims (characters/plotlines based off of real players) and they found the portrayal of e-sports to be insulting. YMMV. Haven't watched them but for other e-sports themed romances there's Go Go Squid and Gank Your Heart. There's also Cross Fire which looks like it has a bigger focus on the e-sports than the romance. I'd guess that one's more in-line with The King's Avatar.
