Name a more iconic retrofuturism classic science fiction film. You literally cannot, every aspect of "old scifi classic aesthetic" comes from this movie.

Because of your thread, I will watch this. Not immediately, but I will.

My dad loves this movie, but I have zero interest in watching it. Looks like dumb nerd shit.

The woman made me horny as a kid. Imagine going to this exotic planet and there's this woman who skinny dips because she don't know any better and she goes barefoot all the time.

If you like original Star Trek, watch this movie. It is very interesting. Also, seeing Leslie Nielsen in a completely straight man role before he did comedies was surreal.
>>
>>217109114
wasn't that aesthetic taken from scifi illustrations from the decades prior

you're actually the pretntious one by calling it a 6 syllable word that doesn't even apply to it instead of calling it an on old sci-fi movie.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Time Machine. I think transforming the morale from class warfare to war worked pretty well, and the creature effects for the morlocks were good.

There's actually weirdly few old Sci-Fi movies that have that 'Retro Sci-Fi' look and vibe.

the past couple months have been somewhat random, i just workout, yap with a buddy, and rot. but before bed i've been watching a few odd things:

old twilight zone episodes i don't remember
tales from the crypt (carefully selected, i love it but some are better than others)
inner sanctum radio shows (vincent price and lon chaney did some great ones)
mission hill rewatch
ATHF rewatch
ancient ads on youtube
nutcracker ballet
swan lake ballet
mst3k episodes i've missed
old ernest ads
old country music concerts from around the 70s
https://www.youtube.com/@betagemslostmedia607/videos

otherwise i'm just reading 1940s/1950s era archie comics, old comic strips, and chipping away at ' a confederacy of dunces' (i'm a slow reader). i need to rewatch the 80s era of twilight zone episodes too, i remember loving some of those.

that's pretty funny, i couldn't pry myself away when watching it. i guess some people do find some of these oldies boring, but i just keep being in awe of how everything is shot, how things look and the differences i the focus of action. when they were shooting the invisible monster, i realized in a modern film there would have been several perspective changes and cuts to get different feelings. the lack of deliberate emotional manipulation through an ever present soundtrack is also really interesting in those old 50s/60s films. it's all just too rad

Not really. Pulp sci-fi was already established decades before this film. The real origin is Princess of Mars and Buck Rogers generally speaking.
