Wtf its actually a good movie
>>
nah
>>
>>217123149
it is
beautifully shot as well
>>
>>217123149
Pedo movie
>>
>>217123149
one of the best opening title shots in film history
>>
I mean the only reason this movie was somewhat groundbreaking is because 'Japan' in hollywood movies used to be a complete joke
It would be like 6/10 at best if it was a movie set in the west or a country where the westerners don't give a fuck at all
>>
>>217123149
Tbh I turned it off half way through. Filtered I guess.
>>
>>217123450
>I mean
stopped reading.

10/10 movie
>>
Captures the magic of going to Japan before seeing Indian African and South East Asian tourists. Also before seeing Indians working in convenience stores. Fucking hated my Japan trip because of that. Hate globalism.
>>
>>217123488
when did you go? I went in 2018 and don’t remember any of that.
>>
>>217123471
whatever
>>
it's an extremely mid movie, but because it's set in Japan it's immediately a 10/10 for weebs.
>>
>>217123149
lip ma stokiings!
>>
>>217123149
I watched it with my gf when I first came to theaters. My synopsis is that its a movie about going through the motions while simultaneously selling out. Bill Murray meets the younger women and uses her to try to feel something. That's all I have to say about it. Its so forgettable I barely remember any of it.
>>
>>217123588
dude this shit is for normies
>>
>>217123488
yeah it does that rather well. don't know if I will ever go back, went over 20 years ago and it was like an alien planet, no shitskins and almost no non-japanese at all, even tourists.
thankfully I saw it before it became filled with manga obsessed freaks and japophiles.
>>
>>217123692
Japan's birth rate is so low the WEF is probably counting on a horde of white men descending on japan to breed their women. I'll sign up for that.
>>
>>217123535
>whatever

Stopped reading
>>
>>217123734
They don’t want whites that’s why they’re starting to open the floodgates to niggers
>>
>>217123149
No, it isn't. All it has is le Japan soifacing aesthetics and two dull protagonists. It's babby's first "art" movie for normies.
>>
Every person I've ever come across that treats this shit movie as the second coming has always been a massive pleb
>>
>>217123520
In November.
>>
>>217123734
Do people still believe something like this?
Japan's birth rate is pretty much the highest in East Asia now and European countries such as Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Switzerland had birth rates that are as low as or even lower than Japan's in the last few decades.

You know what? Gaijins being naturally retarded about Japan is the reason why a movie like this could be so overrated.
>>
>Bill Murray
The undisputed KING of "unfunny"
>>
>>217123149
It's really good. Misunderstood by most. The only flaws are when Bill Murray does his unfunny Bill Murray sketches.
>>
>>217124113
And what do you feel people misunderstood about this movie, exactly?
>>
>>217124069
I kind of believed the birth rate thing (I live in Australia and I hardly see whites anymore, just foreigners), until I went to Japan and saw Japs everywhere. I saw so many Japs the first thing I thought was that this "low birth rate" shit is just another made up Jewish trick to get them to accept migrants.
>>
the ''orientalism but updated'' movie
>>
>>217123299
>she was 27 you SICK FUCK
>>
>>217124206
>>217124069
What are you retards talking about? Japan has the lowest fertility outside of South Korea and the reason it seems to be 'full of Japanese people' is because they have few immigrants. Go to Shibuya and notice all the black drug dealers and pimps.
>>
>>217124345
idk man, i saw a lot of families with kids so i dont believe the 'fertility rate' statistic. and using it as a justification for importing third worlders to attempt to achieve complete demographic replacement is absurd.
>>
>>217124206
aldi started doing doordash orders and now the customer base is 50% more indian
>>
>>217124263
When you correct for the age gap bill murrays character is fucking a 4 year old anon.
>>
>>217124502
so? He imparts fatherly wisdom to her and then they never meet again.
>>
>>217123588
Real weebs hate this movie because it's fucking insufferable if you've ever seen a Japanese movie before.

The golf scene is my favorite golf scene in all /tv/. Everything about it is amazing, both from a golf perspective and a movie-watcher's perspective.
He's at a fancy-shmancy private club, which means a caddy would be mandatory (and there might be other people on the course); but no, he's all by himself, adding to the lonliness of the movie.
He barely looks at the unbelievable view of Mt.Fuji before turning his back on the landscape to take his practice swing, adding to his self-centeredness and disconnection from the world around him.
Then he slices it off to the right, while the hole is a dogleg to the left. Despite it being a terrible golf shot, he offers zero frustration or emotion at all, wandering off toward it before the cut to black. Just going through the motions all alone, uncaring.
Perfect scene.

>>217123620
Only good take on the movie in the entire thread so of course it gets ignored.
>>
>>217124648
you’re right it should’ve had creepypasta horror scenes
>>
>>217124669
Why are golf fags like this?
>>
>>217124717
It was a pedestrian take that was rightfully ignored
>>
You say that like it hasn't been an agreed upon great film since its inception
>>
>>217124648
I wouldn't say that but typical fans of this movie were obviously not creepy anime fans. It's almost the opposite.
>>
bad casting. bill murray was unconvincing as a....i forget what he was exactly. some kind of celebrity? nevertheless, i enjoyed the movie. it was relaxing.
>>
>>217123520
I went in 2023 and found a jeet in one convenience store and a jeet restaurant in a supermarket in the middle of nowhere, staffed by jeets.
>>
>>217124861
A pedestrian would have just thought it was a bad comedy.
>>
Fag jannie
>>
>>217123734
the wef is counting on all the wiypipo men being killed off in a series of European wars they're setting up.
they only want the very lowliest of shitskins to infest civilised nations
>>
>>217123149
no one will ever believe you
>>
>>217124142
Well it depends who's doing the misunderstanding. Most people of reasonable intelligence complain the movie portrays Japan disparagingly, and that the protagonists are selfish. This isn't by mistake. LiT is about two affluent white people who are alienated from their spouses already. The Tokyo they visit for a few days is just a superficial tourist trap, they are inevitably treated in an unnatural and soulless way by people who don't understand them, which makes them feel even more alienated and the only solace they have is each other. They don't need to be likeable to be sympathetic, and the film has nothing to say about Japan, just the veneer of Japan they experience as sheltered tourists.

Even if you find it objectionable, it's an honest expression of Sofia's own experience in Japan for the first time, when her marriage to Spike Jonze was failing and she had an affair with, according to rumours, Harrison Ford. It's basically a French new wave film but set in Tokyo based on the real experience of the director, and auteur work that is objectively well made and well acted. You might not like it but it is good filmmaking.
>>
Japs would never send a hag to an American movie star. It's an insult to Japan's hospitality.
>>
>>217123149
Why is there still no 4K version? Sofia, you lazy bitch you ain't doin shit else.
>>
>>217125063
I think she has been to Japan many times since she was a kid
>>
>>217125004
Oh yeah, that reminds me. I was walking down a street in Nishi-Shinjuku where I saw two jeets working in a convenience store, and passed a Japanese restaurant where there was a jeet behind the counter. At this point I'm praying Trump has some plan to fuck over the UN so that they can finally get all these people sent back to where they fucking came from.

>>217124502
you have a mental problem
either accept that she should have ZERO autonomy, and be treated like a possessed infant, or she is an adult.
in which case she can do as she wishes.
not long ago it was:
>age is just a number
>may to september relationship
now you puritanical freaks are starting up your own cult
>>
>>217125049
I figured that out twenty years ago.
>>
>>217124669
nice analysis
>>
They really should make LIT2 set in China or Korea or Thailand or Soudi
>>
>>217125563
I figured it out 30 years ago
>>
>>217125063
You could have just cut this down to saying "Sofia Coppola is a rich kid who doesn't know shit, and self-inserted herself into an equally clueless and sheltered character to lust after old man cock". What a great story that needed to be told.
>>
>>217125634
Thirty years ago , my life experience didn't extend beyond playing nintendo. It wasn't until I went into public school in Toronto that I gained racial consciousness.
>>
>>217125777
was talking about it all with friends at the time, nothing's improved - it's only far far worse, and unfortunately my predictions keep coming into reality.
the worst is yet to come

He kisses her on the lips for like a good 30 seconds. Do fathers kiss their daughters that way?? No.
>>

perhaps you should stop being a disgusting old roastie and find yourself an old geezer
>>

I am less worried about ww3 then I am about digital ID. If it comes to that shit i can't say anything about it.
>>
i wonder what living off burgers every day would be like
>>
>>217125856
He’s not her father though, retard. It’s just a farewell kiss anyway
>>
>>217125916
yeah, and it's being slid in in the background with zero resistance.
even 20 years ago there would have been pushback - people are deflated, domesticated - chinaflu made it clear.
they'll keep orchestrating circumstances, waiting for people to break, pushing the thing that they never would have accepted prior to the circumstances/problem they enacted in the first place.
people will keep falling for it, and it seems like there's no real alternative - they can't allow it.
>>
>>217125961
Exactly, it wasn't a father daughter relationship, glad I could help explain that to you, fuckwit.
>>
>>217126046
I didn’t say that. I said he exhibits some characteristics of a father towards her, offering the insight of a father, even if hypocritical
>>
>>217123520
2016 for me. Granted all I saw were those nigger scammers in Harajuku but still. Awful to imagine how brown Japan has gotten in such a short time since.
>>
>>217126182
Yeah I’m sad I only got to visit a couple of countries before the covus
>>
>>217125063
>tourist trap
don't think you know what it means
they're in japan pre-tourist, pulled into odd circles, it's an accurate experience of being there at that time in their circumstances
>>
>>217126116
>exhibits some characteristics of a father
No, he doesn't, and the kiss makes it clear. Stop making up your own fanfic for this movie.
>>
>>217123149
The only people I've ever met who dislike LiT are people who watched it when they were 17 or 18 and 'didnt get it' or people who have absolutely no miles on their soul.
>>
>>217126235
it's absolutely clear that about half way through the film he date rapes her when he drugs her drink.
you see her walking differently meaning he sodomised her brutally, then broke her arm, which explains why the time seems to skip until it's healed. by the third quarter of the film she's been murdered by him when his impulses overtake him, just like all men. the film is about him getting away with murder, literally, because he's wealthy, high status and unknown in the area therefore with no leads or consequence pointing to him.
he's clearly a metaphor for joe biden kidnapping and raping children. anyone with half a brain can see that
>>
>>217123149
Imagine living in early 2000s Japan.
>>
>>217123450
promise i had these views before all the critics jumped on the "holy shit is that film racist" bandwagon. gotta' get that out of the way first... how breathtakingly racist the film is
>set in japan
>every japanese character is either mute or they speak in cutesy broken english
>they're strangely excited about trivial things
>no sign of deep emotion or thoughts coming from them
>we get a shot (pic-related) of bill murray standing in an elevator with some short, serious businessmen
>bill murray is playing an actor who flew to tokyo to do a scotch ad

https://youtu.be/FiQnH450hPM

that scene is a perfect encapsulation of the film. notice how stupid and phony and lame the japanese director is! notice how he gives stupid directions for a fucking scotch ad! lol a scotch ad who even cares about a scotch ad?

well... you flew to tokyo presumably to get a big fat pay check for 30 mins of work. you knew it was a scotch ad. you know the rich history of actors/musicians doing weird little japanese ads

and that's the attitude bill murray has? he's that fucking annoyed and depressed? that he got a simple physical direction?

sco-jo's character is just as hard to sympathize with. she's a rich wife who feels bored waiting around at the hotel while her husband works

entire film is built around feeling connected to those characters and their supposed (nothing really) relationship... but they're just mediocre unhappy yuppies

try to go through that film picking out moments of personality/heart/anything from the two characters. a huge chunk of it is
>japanese guy says something weird
>they look at each other
>>
>>217125818
Here's what comes next in 2026, in order, from an insider
>USA annexes Venezuela
>USA annexes some South American countries
>China annexes Taiwan
>USA annexes the remaining South American countries (except for Brazil)
>Russia and Ukraine sign a peace treaty (where Russia keeps the Donbas and Crimea)
>USA annexes Greenland

Black Rain 1989 wipes its ass with LiT. Even the movie with Jean Reno and his hapa daughter is better
>>
>>217123488
In 2003 downtown Tokyo there were plenty of Anglosphere tourists bankers or teachers who spoke English
>>
>>217126550
1. true, it should have been set in boston
2. Boston should have been filled with 7 foot tall nips speaking perfect Engrish without the slightest hint of a jappo accent
3. they should all have been crying, singing, laughing and dancing while shouting constantly and dancing flamenco
4. Bill Murray should have been played by a dwarf and the jap in the lift should have been an 8 foot tall young jap girl on stilts making her 10 feet tall, bent double at the waist and she's wearing cool relaxed beach wear in the middle of the city
5. Bill Murray the dwarf should have played the part of a boring businessman with loads of friends surrounded by all his loved ones at all time like a fucking Mexican soap opera - and he was in Boston because he was a homeless drug aedict
6. the director for the ad no longer featuring Bill Murray should have been a psychic mind reader directorial savant with a thousand percent genius and the artistic ability of van gogh and ruben rolled into one
7. Bill Murray the homeless drug addict should have been over the moon on a perpetual second by second basis that he was ALLOWED TO RIDE IN A LIFT
8. scarlet Johnson should have been a genius rocket scientist poet author spy assassin power lifter aged 78 while bill Murray was 15 and shit himself constantly
9. everyone else should say the most boring dogshit possible and bill Murray and scarlet Johnson should never once look at each other throughout the entire film
fucking kill yourself before someone does it for you you fucking mental freak cunt

by 2025 we're going to be units, replaceable like parts of a machine, and closer to battery chickens than even pets or zoo animals. smallest possible living space, feed instead of food, with limited cognitive function due to under/over stimulation and offloading to machines. beyond that 2100 is more or less the end of anything that resembles humanity. it's going to be more like the future depicted in the time machine, but purposefully directed to that state.

>>217126686
>black rain
looks like a shitty movie Bill Murray’s character from Lost in Translation would have starred in
>>
>>217123433
Is it true Sophia wore the undies to model them for Scarlett to convince her it was a good shot? Pretty sure she'd have to wash them and i wonder what happend to them when they were done filming
