>better than The Simpsons>better than South Park>better than Family Guy>better than FuturamaIt's the single greatest adult cartoon series ever made.
this is a King of the Hill board
it got too plot heavy in the later seasons
>>217125555The season where Dean turns into an Emo was a weird time in my life so I associate that season with bad memories. Also the New York seasons kind of sucked.
woke trash
>>217125619how so?
>>217125600Blue Morpho season is pure kino.
extremely mid >lol the wife has a deep voice>lol the henchman are just like me and my loser pal>lol rusty finds his sons expendable
It gets too fucking convoluted the longer it goesThe last two seasons with them in the penthouse were absolutely terrible
>>217125628there's literally a trans in OPs picture
Why did the queeny wife bitch have a deep masculine voice again?
Pure kino.
>>217125660that's not a tranny she just has a four-pack-a-day smoker's voice
>>217125668because the show had 3 voice actors
>>217125668Pack a day smoker.
Probably one of the only adult swim shows that legitimately made me laugh multiple times.
>>217125786I remember when it was still new. I am so fucking old now.
>>217125299Doc Hammer is a gangster who gives no fucks
I agree with you about the first couple of seasons. What was particularly cool was that the show preceded the comic book movie boom. The venture bros was some of the best representation of a lot of these character tropes and themes, and it was funny as hell. The show just took too fucking long to produce and it became so irrelevant that it didn't even matter if it was good. I didn't even finish the show despite being my favorite show at some point. I just couldn't be fucking bothered to keep up with such a fucked production schedule. I also agree with the anon that said it got too plot heavy.
>>217125668Because its funny
WONDERBOOOOOOOOOY
>>217125930he is a fruit with cringe hair
>>217126177And more fearless than you
>>217126192seems like you're a fruit too
>>217125299I tried watching it and it was just really boring and unfunny, annoying even.
>>217126311Seems you're a subject matter expert on fruitdom
>>217125299I preferred the earlier seasons when it was just a hyper edgy parody of 60s cartoon shows. It became too self-important in later seasons, especially when they move into the penthouse. It never becomes bad, but it loses a lot of its charm imo
>>217125643blue morpho elements were good but the rest of the NY time was poorThe majority of the superhero stuff was a drag
>>217125660>a transtranny detectedbtw when you see someone comment "thats a man" those are trannies too. they're narcissists who want people thinking about them 24/7
>>217125871I remember thinking how absurd it is that any show could wait years between seasons
>>217126322The first season admittedly sucks. They were still getting their bearings with both art and writing. The later seasons started to suck again as they introduced unnecessary millennial-style obscenity (including unironic "LGBT" advocacy) and frankly even the idea that Hank and Dean could ever grow up. But in between is some of the most kino Adult Swim ever produced, or will ever produce again in the new era of "AI generated" content. The best we can hope for is that they never attempt a "revival" like Futurama because it would be terrible. Hopefully Doc Hammer is still getting enough money from residuals to keep dyeing his hair, and James Urbaniak can still find work on the new Rick & Morty or whatever horrible Star Trek cartoon they're shitting out.
>>217125299A great show made for the chosen
>>217125299I agree with you OP and unlike some anons ITT I love the NY Penthouse seasons. For me the show reaches its peak at S4 and then pretty much just stays there til the end.I love the show's humor and its sendup of boy-adventurer/sci-fi/superhero tropes, but I just as much love the characters and the world as they're fleshed out more and more. It's win-win.
>>217126781wish they would've done more with red death
>>217125299I think the art needs to get more appreciation. I never got into the Venture Bros (did see a few episodes) but it looks a trillion times better than everything else you mentioned.
>adult cartoon
>>217126781>the world as they're fleshed outThat's the main thing, the world building, the parody of superhero tropes into the unionized world of "suping/arching" and presentation of Dr. Venture as a nepobaby, that are amusing to anyone who enjoyed capeshit, and were probably never considered again until "The Boys".> it looks a trillion times better than everything else you mentionedWikipedia says "the show is drawn and inked in the traditional animation style (albeit digitally), causing each episode to take considerable time to move through production" and that's what your feeling compared to thosee other shows produced by AI-backed Korean CGI sweatshops.
>>217126965>>217126827
>>217125962>I didn't even finish the show despite being my favorite show at some point.same here, loved that show and even have the first couple of seasons on DVD but I don't think I've ever seen anything past season 3 because it just became too hard to track when a new episode was available
>eat the pennies quizboy
>>217125704Do you smoke cigarettes, or eat them?
>>217125659fate of most shows with a writing room
>>217125655oh c'mon, you loved it
>>217125299This post is incredibly hyperbolic, that being said, in a lot of ways, TVB is a better show than all of those shows OP (fag) listed, the problem is TVB isnt funnier than all of those shows, imo it isnt funnier than any of them
>>217125962>>217126999so what, you fags just never tried it again after it was completed with the movie?
>>217126458Ok troon.
Its also my fav, not just of cartoons, but of all comedy shows. Maybe even all shows. Its the one I've rewatched the most and the only rewatch where I dont skip episodes.I do actually like the "lore development" in season 3 onward because unlike pretty much every comedy show that does it out of desperation for content, they do it with intention. When they develop the guild and the whole villain/hero fake fencing, theres some episodes where they hit every plot beat of a classic hero/adventure cartoon, like>heroes in new place>villain appears and makes a threatening play>heroes fight back>villain loses it and makes a risky gambit>heroes stop villain but he gets away before they can catch himBut all of those happen in entirely different contexts or reasons following the different main plot. But ultimately there are just fewer jokes per minute as it goes onFav episode, either the duran duran please tell me now ball, the lepidopterists, or ORB
>>217125299Yup. Also Daisy Taylor should play Dr. Girlfriend haha
>aww hitler just made a poopie!>GREAT, SOME FUCKING MASTER RACE
>>217126529They also made fun of "woke" stuff>and more people of color!
One of my favorite shows. I’m waiting for the irl Rusty Venture broadway play.
>>217126833t. blunderer
I agree, as long as you include all iterations of The TIck, since they and the Venture Bros were done by the same people.
>>217125299There was way too much gay shit in S2 and S3. It’s like they had to apologize for all the hilarious gay jokes in S1 then had to act like every third character being gay was normal.
>>217125299if it's so good, why was it so easy to drop it after all that, and gargantua II?
>>217125299The hardy boys animated. Watching it reminds me of when i knew how to read books
>>217128256No, it was a parody of Jonny Quest. I laughed my ass off when "Action Jonny" made his appearance.
>>217128325Well, one of the great things about Venture Bros. is that it dips its referential quill in many, many different inkwells, greatly to its behest.
>>217128325>ay you got some herpe on yer lip dere>you been kissin' your wifes ass?>after i put herpe in derrrrr?brendan small voice acting was action johnnys best
>>217128371Indeed. The Hardy Boys made their appearance as the Hale Brothers.
>>217127253Whichever season ends with the prom in the barn. You could tell even then that it was getting gay.
i like vb but it's fans seem incredibly self indulgent in their enjoyment for the show, repeating the same few jokes over and over and chuckling to themselves that they're "in the know" to some higher form of entertainment
>>217128325He gave my mom herpe.
it was two guys with complete creative control trying to make each other laugh. jackson would write one, doc would write one, then they'd write one together.it became very masturbatory the more characters they introduced and has these in-jokes they'd talked about for years, but trying to translate those ideas into a 22 minute show which already had too much established just fucked it. also seasons taking 3 to 4 years meant i'd had seasons 1 and 2 on repeat for ten years before season 4 came out
>>217125668early seasons hinted she was a tranny then that plot line was abandoned and it became a running gag that everyone thought she was a tranny but she was really just a smoker then they abandoned even that gag because you can't make fun of trannies anymore
>>217128490it's a less popular monty python, where the fans got off on just quoting lines at each other as a substitute for making jokes. not that venture bros didn't have jokesescape from the house of mummies part 2 is my favorite episode
The monarch is basically the only consistently funny guy throughout the series. I honestly don't care about the expanded lore and it feels that the demonification of Jonas Sr. is simply to justify Rusty being as shitty or even worse than him.
>>217125555the storytelling is what made it good. it certainly wasn't the fuckin proto-mcu humor.
>>217128544>escape from the house of mummies part 2 is my favorite episodeThat is genuinely one of the best episodes in adult cartoons.
>>217126482haha yeah. I guess they were ahead of their time.
>>217128544I'm a big fan of "20 Years To Midnight" myself.
>>217125299I really like the first two seasons but they're the only ones I like honestly
>>217128544unfortunately that episode also falls victim to the very thing you described>DUDE MECHA SHIVA LMAO
>>217128513You say that as though those precise things didn't make Venture Brothers the best adult cartoon of all time.
>>217128545To be fair, the true villain of the series was Jonas Sr.
>>217125299It started taking itself too seriously and went up its own ass. Everything after the Monarch's wedding is all downhill.
>>217125299I've never never ever seen a good cosplay of doctor girlfriend ever.
>>217125299greatest american cartoon of all time>>217128152Fucking love the Tick, no wonder both shows were so well done >>217128325hell yea, the action johnny caricature of johnny quest was my favorite background character.
>>217125299I'm glad this show knew when to end with only 4 seasons.
>>217128544>GIVE ME THE HAND OF OSIRIS!>give me head>>217128590don't talk shit about mecha shiva
>>217125299>YOU ARE THE LAST DRINK I NEVER SHOULD HAVE DRUNK>YOU ARE THE BODY, HIDDEN, IN THE TRUNK>YOU ARE THE HABIT, I CAN’T SEEM TO KICK>YOU ARE MY SECRETS ON THE FRONT PAGE EVERY WEEK
>>217127628They did, but they dipped their toe over that point of making fun of everyone equally, to actually having an identifiable agenda.Anyway, for me the breaking point was Operation P.R.O.M., very specifically between the original (censored) and non-censored versions. I think the censored versions with the bleeps were actually funnier and that releasing the uncensored versions showed a real loss in comedic judgement, and Emo Dean is when the series began to go off the rails.
>>217128490>>217128544To be fair, every Venture Brothers fan probably has (or should have) their own impression of "Who talks like that?"
>>217125299Can we all at at east agree that Venture Bros has one of the sickest themes in modern kinomatic memory? All this for a fucking cartoon:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yhs7WnqXUBM
>>217128761For me? It's gotta be Assclamp.
Show was amazing from start to finish and one of the only shows where a delayed development didn't ruin it. No adult cartoon has a better legacy despite what legitimate gripes people may have.
I just wanted one last 6 episode stretch where Rusty and Malcom confront their father
>>217128761I've been a fan of J.G. Thirlwell since the early 1990s, when I got into industrial music. I was absolutely over the moon when he finally got a mainstream gig doing TV show themes. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.
>>217125668I'm sure people have written PHD treatises on this subject at some of our finest jewish academic institutions, but the basic answer is that that the supervillian's hot, sexy, genius girlfriend appears to have no flaws.... until she opens her mouth, comedy by contradiction..... which then becomes a running "meta" gag for other characters to comment upon.Too bad that Shohreh Aghdashloo is too old to play her in the live action adaptation.
>>217128761It's not that interesting, band geek.
i loved all of it and put it up there with BTAS and Avatar. Go team Venture

>>217125299Just finished Baboon Heart after a delay. Really liked it. Caught me off the guard that Rusty was a clone... but now that I think about it... it does make sense. I'm not exactly satisfied with that being the ending especially with Hank and Dean able to access the Jungverse. Wish that was explored more.
>>217129307I haven't seen it myself. On another forum you might get shit for spoilers, but the beauty of Venture Bros x 4chan is you could never tell who was the bigger shitposter, and we all really watch for the "small stuff" anyway (like bits of Pete White dialog), so reveals really don't matter.
>>217125668I don't know but I want her to shit in my mouth she is very attractive
>>217125962>7 seasons over 15 years
>>217128650I hate to break it to you, but everyone has their own ideology, and it comes out in their art. Doesnt mean it is conscious propaganda or an agenda.

>it's woke trash re3eeeeeTrannies itt seething
>>217125299It's alright, but it's not the greatest.
>>217129939It is, but it's well-written, like the Simpsons.
>>217129516Be gentle with him, he's extra-sensitive. If you know what I mean.
>>217130227it's not woke, it came out way before wokeshit
>>217125299One of the shows that was so kino start to finish that I got depressed when it ended. Then I watched the three seasons of the tick to cheer myself up and it was comfy, but when I finished I got even more depressed. I think there's one or two more good arcs that could be made of the venture bros.
The movie ruined the whole series. Great show but I don't think I can ever watch again after the movie. I get that they were even lucky to be able to do it but still.>NO BROCK ACTIONWtf...
>>217128152The Tick animated is the most underrated show ever made
>>217125299Yes. Unfortunately, the creators had a shite work ethic and would let years and years go between intermittent episodes, which killed the series.
>>217125555Avoiding plot heaviness is a sad state of affairs
>>217125299>better than The Simpsons>better than FuturamaNo.
>>217130605SPOOOOON
>>217130884>better than FuturamaYes.
>>217125299If you seriously enjoy silver/bronze age superheroes and the venture bros and james bond and you unironically get entertainment from those properties then I think this show is very difficult to enjoy. I think the main thing ive noticed about fans of this show is you have not seen or do not enjoy the venture bros and related properties like space ghost and early ccapeshit, so you are seeing it all for the first time thru this kind of amalgamation. But without realizing it, you are having a lot of the core concepts subverted for the sake of humor and it will negatively impact your perception and expectations for adventure stories in the future cus you will just think "oh yea venture bros did that but turned it into a gag" and you will be expecting it to become a gag rather than enjoying the sense of adventure.
>>217126965Its literally LITERALLY just the Incredibles. Holy shit man its not that unique.
>>217128152The Tick cartoon is so much better than this I think its a disservice since its way more intelligent and fun with its parody world.
>>217131160it's literally just The Tick 2.0
>>217131185Not exactly cus the Tick is in a then contemporary superhero world of the 90s whereas the 60s/70s theme is specific to the incredibles.
>>217131221It's hardly comparable to the incredibles
>>217125299I think what you meant to say is that it's gayer than all of those other shows
>>217125643He was the best part of that season.Hank and Dean hating each other and conspiring against one another for a girl was so out of character. They crushed Brock Sampson as a character. He went from badass alpha chad to subservient S&M fetishist. They pretty much ruined most of their cast except monarch and ms girlfriend.
>>217128597IGNORE ME
>>217130605No, that's The Critic
The Venture Bros. was good until everyone started talking like Number 21. He was supposed to be the nerd who made pop culture references. When everyone else started doing it, it got old.
>>217125299It was kino in season 1+2. Got up it's own ass lorewise starting in 3, became an entirely different show in season 4 and never recovered. I remember people saying Monarch was Rusty's brother in the late 2000s. Pretty much a waste of time after Monarch Dr. Girlfriend wedding.
ATHF is better
>>217125299early simpsons still stomps
I love it, but I don't think it's the best animated show ever. It's the best animated parody series, though. The first 2 seasons of Harvey Birdman are up there as well. I'm sure someone will say that Adventure Time falls under that umbrella, but I haven't seen it.
>>217132992correct. Critic is one of the GOAT and was waaay ahead of its time. Tick was also underrated but at least there have been 2 live action adaptations since. A live action Critic with john lovitz just roasting movies would be kino.
DUDE, PAPA SMURF HAS A FUCKING BEARD, HE'S TOTALLY A MAMMAL
>>217128595What two faggots in a vacuum think is funny doesn't translate very well

>>217130959No.
>>217128590>>DUDE MECHA SHIVA LMAOthis but unironically
I'm happy to see that other people on on the same page about what happened with VB. The show's lore got way too into itself to the point where it started to feel like a Reddit thread. This always bothered me but I never stopped watching because Jackson and Doc are some of the funniest motherfuckers out there and VB was a perfect wrapper for their humor.
that show was legit funny
I didn’t like the ending. Felt like it was building up to something greater given it was running for 20 yearsz
Very important reminder that zoomer opinions don’t matter in threads like these
>>217135489Did you watch the movie?
>>217135475THE N O Z Z L E
>>217132992I disagree, The Critic really isn't that funny. I think at most it got a mild chuckle out of me, and the second season missed a lot more than it hit. There's a reason it only got 2 seasons even with the bump from cameoing in the Simpsons in its prime.
>>217136096It was too timely, VB got around that by making fun of shit that was already old.
