>go to a "Star Wars" movie in 2015
>no 20th Century Fox logo
>no fanfare music
>the Lucasfilm logo appears in dead silence

I knew something was wrong immediately.

This post reminded me that there is a new Star Wars movie coming out very soon.
I had completely forgotten about it and almost certainly will again.
>>

I don't think it's gonna do that well. The last season of Mandalorian sucked even by the show's own standards.
>>
>>217129934
i don't know how anyone who liked old star wars manages to persist past the bad robot logo. it immediately presents that a 'pure reddit' aestheic sensibility, antithetical to any Lucasian imagery, is what you're going to get this time
>>
They wanted to do something different. Make it grave and ominous.

You now remember normies petitioning to have the Fox logo put back in TFA even though it's not a Fox movie and that they also apparently had no issues with how much of a betrayal of the SW formula the movie was in the first place

The sequel series exists to kill all the existing main characters. That’s what it did.

I just can’t believe how massively fumbled this all was. The hype was bigger than anything I’d seen before. Now it’s just a punchline.
>>
>>217134756
Episode 1 had a bigger hype
>>
>>217129934
An intro you can hear just with a single picture. Kinda amazing how Fox managed to imprint their brand in the minds of entire generations though all they did was throw money at the product.

Fuck, time to rewatch the OT again

I was there for TPM too. TFA was bigger.

The trailer was bad and just looked like a rehash of what already happened in the show. I will not be surprised if the theatrical release is canceled and it just releases in Disney Plus. No one fucking cares about it, at all. The meme novelty of the baby puppet is long gone.

No it wasn't.

You're correct. Something was wrong immediately.

Reminder that Filoni is to blame for the current state of Star Wars more than anyone else.

No you weren't

TPM was a once in a lifetime monster, nothing like it before or since in terms of anticipation and exposure

Episode VII was anticipated since 1983 dude. OT fans were excited for it because it wasn’t the prequels and they had hope that “it would be done right”. The fans of the prequels too were hyped. It finally continued a story that we waited 30 years for. I know you want to rewrite history, but the hype for TFA was the biggest in Star Wars history. For 3 years since the Disney buyout, the biggest thing to talk about and speculate on was TFA. It was absolutely massive. TPM being a close 2nd.
>>
>>217139342
NTA but I grew up watching the OT on my old VHS tapes and I don't recall any overwhelming fan demands for sequels back then. I thought it was pretty clear that ROTJ was the conclusion of Luke's story.
>>
>>217139446
49 yr old here. Watched the originals starting in 82 on VHS, then saw RotJ in theaters in 83.

Honestly, there wasn't much of a hype for an episode 7. We had the books, which came out when I was in highschool, and those extended universe books were all we needed. That and the RPG sourcebooks.

I remember the hype and the crowds for TPM being way, WAAAAY bigger than TFA. I wasn't even that hyped for ep7. I went in expecting nothing and was still disappointed.
