Overrated performance or no?
>>
No, he deserves the recognition for acting so well in it, alongside Edie Falco.
>>
Everything about The Sopranos is overrated.

No.

Michael Imperioli was pretty incredible too.

zoomers cannot into the sopranos.

Its just a kino show that maintained its quality from start to finish while having so many memorable quotes and scenes

No other show has done that except Breaking Bad which is also just as remembered
>>
>>217135603
no,fairly rated
guy killed it
>>
>>217135603
No, he was pure kino as Tony. Too bad he didn't have any other memorable roles besides True Romance
>>

I liked him in 9mm
>>
>>217135917
This man looks like he shoots indians and chews beef jerky. We need him more than ever.

He's unironically even fantastic in his Sesame Street cameo

Why is Carmella so much less obnoxious than Skyler in BB?
>>
>>217135621
It was a r-rated soap opera just like OZ and most of HBO content. They go for dramatic scene instead of common sense or realism which is fine at the time but once you watch again or have some knowledge of the things depicted everything falls apart. Oz is the worst of the bunch, it was a mix of prison drama with Looney Tunes.

the true unsung hero of the sopranos is carmela. the greatest tv actress of all time.
>>
>>217136313
Great actress and never obnoxious or overbearing. Any issues she has with Tony are completely justified. He struck gold finding such a devoted housewife and loving mother to their children. She is the complete opposite of his own mother.
>>
>>217136313
Skyler done right. Although, after she gets back with Tony, her arc is pretty much complete.
>>
>>217136349
>Skyler
What an annoying cunt. No wonder Walter broke bad. She was never supportive

>>

>Why is Carmella so much less obnoxious than Skyler in BB?
The family drama is almost filler in BB while it’s more integral and vital for The Sopranos.
>>
>>217136410
Is this show good? I've watched all of bb and better call Saul
>>
>>217136410

Ya, it’s called television. It’s not meant to be real.

They had to make sure to show you them flushing their asses out so you wouldn't think they were degenerates. So many ways to explore the human condition and they decided to show an episode of two dudes building a contraption so they could pop each other's assholes. In a world where gore is constant and hygiene is not somehow the idea of two dudes going out of their way to have an enema device so they can fuck post apocalyptic hairy man ass. You just know their 30 year old wrangler jeans are full of shitty booty dust. In just the way the enema is given to nick offerman you can see the wrongness in this lifestyle. He's apprehensive to engage in said lifestyle but allows himself to be given an enema while being visually uncomfortable with it. Imagine having to flush out your bootyhole just to fuck. Nature is telling you not to fuck no but you still insist on fucking male waste chute. Imagine the crust and crinkle of their jeans as they walk by.
>>
>>217136501
Writing is unbelievably shit, but probably yeah
>>
>>217135603
The truth is he wasn't even acting. That was his natural mannerism. Take a look at other stuff he did after Sopranos ended and he was ridiculous.

>>217136438
>>217136543
Unironically, I think walking dead and breaking bad are overrated shows. BB just dragged on the drama and got boring. It was also obvious the writers were making up stories along the way without a clear vision. And the walking dead is...well, everyone knows about that show.

Pic related is one of the greatest villains ever.
>>
>>217135790
Dark comedy but presented as drama for normies
>>
The Sopranos might have the strongest cast in television history. Pretty much everyone plays their part perfectly
>>
>>217136745
I read once that the science they presented was pretty accurate for the time. But yeah the dialogue writing is mostly gay and bad.

Best part of the show by far was the suburban couple and their antics.
>>
>>217136960
>I read once that the science they presented was pretty accurate for the time
Im almost tempted to watch it again, but some of the character drama is genuinely retarded and unbelievably contrived and the dialogue is, yeah. Horrible.

her influence hangs over the rest of the show and you see parts of her emerging in other characters all the way up until the finale. she poisons tony, janice, and AJ with a dark nihilistic cloud that they spend most of their time either wallowing in or failing to break free from.

Maybe if you've never watched the show.
>>
>>217136793
Watch clips of him in Where The Wild Things Are. Seems like he meant well but would fly off the rails. Probably why exceeded in the roles in that movie and Sopranos.
>>
Is killing Christopher the worst thing Tony did?

300 yrs ago you just know hed be the sheriff of some lawless backwoods famous for taking no shit.
>>
>>217139030
The worst thing he ever did was have no respect for this thing. He stepped over his own uncle to grab the top seat. His father's brother.
>>
>>217139741
>He stepped over his own uncle to grab the top seat. His father's brother.
So what? There's no stigmata these days.
>>
>>217136302
Carmella's character is suppose to be a hypocrite bitch.
Skyler is also a hypocrite bitch but we're suppose to take her as a victim and the voice of reason.
>>
>>217135603

There are some roles you just cannot imagine being performed by any other actor. Gandolfini’s ability to be simultaneously charming and intimidating is key to making the character work.
>>
>>217136438
Should probably just make your own mind up.
>>
>>217139869
depends if dry humor is your thing. if you're a plotfag that doesn't get the comedic part of the show, you'll probably find it "boring"
>>
>>217136302

She written and acted as a fully three dimensional character instead of just being the annoying harpy wife. She’s even funny sometimes.
>>
>>217137541
he didnt have an arc, and he wasnt very loyle to his capo
>>
>>217135603
It is greatest performance given in television with Edie Falco.
>>217135621
You're a midwit.
>>217135659
This series has like no 'bad' performances, everyone is great.
>>217136302
She is in constant battle with herself. She loves the 'gangster life' but cant swallow the bad of it. She also hates her son and is envious of of her daughter.
>>
>>217139863
He's intimidating because the character has power behind him, on paper. You could cast Jamie Oliver and the character would still be someone not to fuck with.
>>
>>217140170
...On paper? He is menacing cuz he is broad shouldered big bastard that will fuck you up and if you dont take the hint he will find someone that WILL give it to you.
>>
>>217139809
This. She should be thrown in prison for the shit she's done, but she's instead viewed as a sad, unfortunate victim trying her damndest to protect her family from her husband's unilateral decisions. She doesn't get a "happy" ending by any means, but she directly and willingly participates in her husband's crimes and gets away with it because "She's the mother!"
Carmella has the make or break scene with her therapist where he lists out all the wrong she's done and gives her absolutely no quarter. She outright tells her "you're complicit in all of this shit, and I am not going to excuse anything you do. you either leave him, take the kids, and urge him to turn himself in or just accept that you're a mob wife and take whatever comes with it". Then she proceeds to get back with Tony unconditionally and flaunt the expensive jewelry and cars he gets her with his blood money. The viewer is supposed to view her as just another part of the criminal lifestyle; the mob wife that allows them to live the life they live.
>>
>>217136302
Carmella is sexier than Skyler.
>>
>>217140199
>and if you dont take the hint he will find someone that WILL give it to you.
Just like Taylor Swift would, playing the same character.
>>
>>217136543
He's in some good bong kino. I'd recommend everyone watch Teachers. Andrew Lincoln plays the main character but is only in it for the first two seasons and the first season is quite weak. Still worth watching for some Lincoln kino, though.
>>
>>217139030
Christopher got scott free so many times that would've got any other of the crew dead. He was a junkie, that got you almost killed, then still was asking for a favor when he was spitting blood in the car wreck. Fuck him. There is evidence also that he was flipped
>>
>>217136870
>Name 1 show you think is good and not overrated
Nta, but I share the same opinion. The Thick of It.
>>
>>217135621
What's the point of saying something is or isn't overrated? Why not say what you thought was good or bad about it?
>I think people like it too much!
This is all you're saying. Not much discussion can be had from this.
>>
The casting directors here deserve just as much praise as the actors do in a show as good as The Sorpanos.
>>
>>217140551
Especially considering a majority of the cast were no name actors with theater experience only
>>
