Had this show been exactly the same but had nothing to do with Vince nobody would give a shit about it. Reddit cinephiles wouldn’t be defending it to the grave either
Pluribus should be an open world RPG instead of a tv series. All the frustration with Carol is that she doesnt do stuff that I would do, give me a chance to save humanity from the plurb and I would be a much better protagonist or at least do something interesting, in my opinion.
>>217147746I just finished watching the show like a minute ago. Never have I skipped forward so many times watching any other series as I did during the last few episodes. And there are retarded faggots out there seriously claiming that this show is somehow in the same league as BB and/or BCS!?

>>217147876You could always just kill yourself. Surely that solves the issue. Or go hide in a bunker somewhere, but you'd also have to be self-sufficient, because you wouldn't be able to risk physical interaction with the hive mind or anything that they provide in the chance that they've finally developed something to infect you.
>>217148042
>>217148022That is absolutely an alkie skill.Carol seems to be mostly "recovered" but the apocalypse is making her relapse into old habits, and the reveal that the plurb loves Manousos as much as it does her will probably make things much worse.

Whether it's 10 years or 10 days, it doesn't matter, it would be worth partying and having fun and not arguing against the people who are doing that. But I don't think your brain even works that way, you just want to keep a 4chan argument going even if it means figuratively abandoning your own humanity out of spite.Have fun telling me it's only a matter of time in your gay house on a zoom call while I'm in Tahiti buttfucking Xochitl Gomez

>>217148300I don't give a fuck about fighting them, and realistically there'd be no point given how humanity is already extinct if there's no consistent way to turn people back beyond like spending an entire year living as a married couple with one of them and they kind of become an individual or something and you can bring the original person back, like what could potential happen with Carol and Pirate Lady if they go in a predictable directionBut that would be a very impractical way to "fight" them and I'd have other concerns>Also you are just arguing so hard about this because it's your coomer fantasy.Yes, because the plurb hands Carol HER coomer fantasy the day after the takeover happensI don't have any kids to be guilted over, I don't live with my parents and I wouldn't want to see them regularly, and I'd immediately swap out out my girlfriend for whoever I must wanted at the time when I realize I'm being obeyed like a godAre you on meds or something that you didn't make the correlation that the plurb wanted Carol to just sit in her house fucking Pirate Lady over and over until they figured out how to turn her? Like that was their goal, she's just too much of a pessimistic bitch to go along for the ride immediately I'm sorry if you're upset at the idea of fucking, but that is probably how they'd try to get you too, only I guess you'd be like Carol and sperg out at your dream lover instead of inviting her inside your house

>>217148201I mean, I'm not even really arguing with anything anyone would do during the invasion of a hive mind. I imagine my own existence in the same situation would be rather degenerate, at least early on. Just the facts according to the show, is that they don't need your permission to infect you.Only in the current specific circumstance where the stem cells they need to cultivate a specified strain for you can only be harvested via a needle into your hip to extract bone marrow, which is painful/harmful. Since causing physical harm is against the hive mind's nature, Koumba and Carol both opted out. Carol's issue is that they're attempting to get stem cells from her frozen eggs, which they didn't tell her about until after Carol realized it herself. And since the hive mind's current efforts are about trying to turn the remaining immunes, the possbility exists that they eventually discover some alternative method of infection.
>>217148775Season 1 is about Carol's struggle with herself about what to do about the plurbs, and it's good television. My assumption is that the people complaining that "nothing happens" are incapable of introspection.
Bros I think I'm finna bouta PLURB out all over this thread
>>217148901Nothing happens because I cant plug in a controller and make Carol do stuff, worst playthrough in HERSTORY
>>217148801>Only in the current specific circumstance where the stem cells they need to cultivate a specified strain for you can only be harvested via a needle into your hip to extract bone marrow, which is painful/harmful.Yes, and we're circling back to original point that as far as we know, because the show told us, I would be fully immune and potentially outlive most if not all the plurbs because I'm 32 and I am psychologically capable of things like fishing and harvesting fresh produce. And nobody, even those arguing the hypothetical "but what if they eventually do find a way to turn you, though?!?!" didn't want to argue similar hypotheticals like if there were 100 plurbs left, all starving, and 1 human, would they still be trying to change that last human above all else, or could be they convinced to settle down the last human could go gather a bunch of apples
This show has some similar themes to Westworld, i.e. getting lost in a constructed fantasy, having your identity subsumed by some other overriding technological system, essentially using facsimiles of people for hedonistic pleasure. However Pluribus is actually decent and well written so far, and Westworld was absolutely fuckin awful.
Carol should've just finished her conversion therapy and none of this would have not happened.
>>217149232Westworld is transhumanist shit, it was written by mentally ill freaks.
>those two paragraph anons still going at it from the last thread
>>217149292what do you think a general thread is supposed to be, zoomer?
I would have them bring all the uninfected to my location and just hold one plurb hostage and get mad at it relentlessly until they all died. I might also rape and torture it so they all felt the distress. If they tried to intervene I would get mad again, thereby nullifying the rescuers. If they did not wish to die then they would be presented the option of reversing the plurbing as the only alternative. Any of the uninfected that I had not killed would be the ones with which I wished to repopulate the earth, whom I would Fritzl into breeding stock until we had a sufficiently large gene pool to return to agrarianism and start from scratch. This has happened many times throughout human history
>>217148463Ep 1 is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.

>>217149419I wasn't doing that, zoomer. But hey, just spam "I'm gonna plurb" 10x as often as you probably already do and these threads will be more to your taste.

>>217149413LET THE PLURBS HIT THE FLOORLET THE PLURBS HIT THE FLOOR
>>217149110I don't see how being self-sufficient stops you from being infected though, whether you want to or not. It's only been a couple months in and they already discovered a method of converting those once thought to be immune, so it stands that they will continue trying to find other ways to tailor the virus until all are turned. And while you can still ask them for stuff, and they're generally obligated to give you what you want, their biological imperative is stated multiple times to spread the virus as much as possible, on a galactic scale, even. You could come up with ways to keep them from starving, but they still wouldn't be capable of harvesting anything living. I'm sure there are still plenty of ways to make that easier for yourself, but I doubt you can convince them to stop trying to convert you.
Carol should've done the renegade interrupt instead of the renegade dialogue option.
I liked Ep1 because it has the Breaking Bad formula of a person singularly trying to overcome a problem in a bleak situation using their inventiveness. But once the Plurbs are online, all the world is at Carol's fingertips and it sorta sucks out a lot of the tension and the stakes that Ep1 had. Interested in how they're going to build for conflict and things for Carol to overcome. Vince said he started the show because he was sick of writing bad guys, but I feel like the show really does need a villain.
>>217149540Well the show having the all fuck off and leave Carol alone, which they would know can't be possibly be good for her mental wellbeing, due to her once again nearly killing Pirate Lady in itself suggests they can and will act against their own stated goals of being happy and nice or whateverWhich opens the door for, down the line, when there's so few of them and they've even accomplished their goal of broadcasting the RNA radio frequency already so it's just them puttering around as the majority of them starve to death, logistically and scientifically they would know that turning the last human into a plurb would doom them to extinction on earth, wheras if the human was allowed to be un-plurbed and was willing to provide for them, would the survivability equation override the immediate goal (not necessarily a need, given the way they behave) of plurbing every human being? This is no less hypothetical than them developing some other way of coding the virus to the immune humans than using stem cells (which itself means they're a fucking long way from being able to due it though a clipped fingernail or a stray hair that falls out or some other thing they could harvest independently)
If this happened right now, and you were immune, but also were developing hypertension or some other problem that only manifested after the plurb, and then you passed out and your plurb wife was there, would they even be able to draw your blood without your consent to find out what happened?
My theory? The plurbs only seize up to negativity only when they're in performative mode (which they enter when around the uninfected now). When they're in worker mode they just don't react to it which is why they didn't get stopped by the military on time.
I don't know what I'd do first, but about twenty days in I would probably drive over to Las Vegas, put two shotgun shells into Diabetes and burn the city to ashes as a statement. No black man has any right to have that life.
>>217149232Don't remind me of Westworld. Has a show ever dropped the ball so hard so quickly?
>>217149780But their goal isn't to be happy or nice, it's to get you to join the collective. It just so happens that being nice to people makes them pretty pliable to your cause. And again, the entirety of the remaining human population dying out doesn't seem to be an issue for them. They seemed to be content with using up all remaining "windfall" until they died from starvation. It was only the other survivors who were concerned with coming up with sustaining the masses via robotics and automation. I mean, a simple solution would just be to keep planting shit so that you can reap enough windfall to sustain a sizeable population. But with all of combined human intelligence under the hive mind, they don't seem to care about that, rather they devoted resources to turning the last human, even if they all starve together in a manner of years.

My player went to the Next episode, but then I manually clicked Next thinking I was going to Ep 7 and so it double Next'd and I watched Charm Offensive and was slightly confused why the plurbs were back and why Mano was injured, why Carol suddenly had an O'Keefe painting on her wall, and where the "PLEASE COME BACK" on the drive had come from. I assumed these events happened off screen. Later when I realized, I went back to watch Ep7 and because I'd already seen where they end up, in this ep where there's montages of Carol placing fireworks etc. I did reluctantly skip through a lot of that filler. Is it ever established how young someone has to be to be affected by the plurb? Like sure there's that indian kid but is a toddler who only speaks in babbles suddenly fluent in french? What about someone with severe mental disabilities?

>>217155879Pretty sure it affects infants, otherwise they might have counted them as part of the immunes. The entire plot of this show has a hard limit of 13 character, 7 of them speak zero English, and one is a literal child with zero autonomy, There is no room in this show to have bloody shootouts and shit like that, so all the conflict is internalized, I think people who want big explosive spectacles every episode will hate it, but thats okay

It was initially.. and then it just wasn't. >>217158721lay off the weed Rakesh

>>217159163They didn't coerce her, she was cooperating and the hive kept up the performance because she was still an individual. Their compulsion to make people happy is real, it's what is used as a vectorial motivator for the drones to spread the plurb.
plurb vibes
>>217159279>But remember in the first episode they just went up to Carol and kissed her? She didn't seem to be in a happy mood during that
>>217159497literally every other person on earth, up to that point, did not have enough reaction time to even be upset about a plurb kissing them. They had no reason to believe that kissing her would make her unhappy. You can see the plurbs acting physically confused immediately after realizing they failed to turn her.
>>217159700>literally every other person on earth, up to that point, did not have enough reaction time to even be upset about a plurb kissing themkek, as if

>>217147746what were the viewing figures like for this show?
>>217160713Apple TV doesn't release numbers. They only said it's the most popular show they ever had, beating shows like Severance, For All Mankind, Silo, etc.
>>217160513>inb4 whole galaxy is full of proxy wars by unseen ayysIt is, But that doesnt matter, because they are lightyears away. The hives are still limited by speed of communication, so anything that far away can't possibly controll or communicate with the earth hive. The thing you have to worry about is Carrol and Menudo fucking around with the hive signal, and accidentally splitting it into two distinct hive minds that will compete for dominance>>217160713yes,
>>217160906>The hives are still limited by speed of communicationwhat if the ayys have the ability to jack into the plurb at will from wherever they are in the galaxy and they just haven't done so yet?

>>217160906>Menudo
I hate the plot induced stupidity in this show. The Season Finale wasted a long time in a fake and gay tension between Carol and Paraguain guy just to finally bring it back to stake zero by the end of it.
>>217161117>Only if they've figured out quantum-based FTL communications, which is very possiblei'm thinking it would have to be based on that concept that human consciousness actually transcends all that. you know like, astral projection and remote viewing and stuff. whatever mechanism it is that makes that possible would indeed be FTL communication. and it would make sense for why they would plurb intelligent species with that capability to do that.
>>217161219>Carol gets to scissor pirate lady and gives up on fixing the world>has to be brought back onto the right track by rugged survivalist manYou just didn't get it

The aliens who sent the recipe went through the same process as the people on earthZosia says they will send the recipe forward to other planetsMaybe this was created by mistake and now it's just going from planet to planet creating these hives
>>217161507it was the first chapter
yeah if it acts like a rampant psychic von neumann machine you have to assume it's thatalternatively, consider that a non-retarded species would not just fucking make the fucking space virus in an aboveground laboratory with zero security and immediately fucking infect themselves with it.so it's equally likely that it's a weapon aimed at any potentially dangerous species with the intelligence and technology to be this fucking stupid.>>217161117>>genuine misplaced altruism? (ie they think they're helping)either way, re-transmitting the virus is incredibly dangerous in and of itself.like apparently there are ayys out there. if there's one civilisation there are likely more. and this signal would be considered a hostile act by any other race who isn't dumb enough to drink the space zombie juice like usi'd be keeping an eye out for whether that planet 600ly away suddenly explodes any time soon
>>217161507When you've read everything in existence even a shitty fanfic is new and interesting by comparison.>>217161511Alternatively it's a self-propagating intelligence-neutering bioweapon meant to clear out whole swaths of the galaxy ahead of ayy expansion.the Bootes Void is the scar left by intergalactic war btw
>>217160792>its our most popular show so far!9 out of 10 dentists agree
>>217161507She is overplaying it because Carol gave the plurb an "in" to be performative by asking for Zosia to behave as an individual. But the plurb probably unironically is going euphoric over it because it's always positive.
>>217161588I really REALLY doubt Vince is going to take the show's direction into fucking aliens or global warfare or anything like that. That's not the kind of show he makes, and that's not what's being focused on here. I think he used the outer space RNA signal as an origin to get as far away from scifi fantasy as possible. He didn't want the hivemind compared to zombies or rogue AI or other cliches associated with them.
>>217161799He's going to have to pull something out of his ass to have an actual plot for season 2, thoughLike a villain or something, because it can't really function as an ongoing story with the way it's going now

Why didn't Carol just ask for her eggs back? At least we could've gotten a "I'm sorry, Carol. I'm afraid we can't do that"
>>217164138>I'm not sure why it's relevant since you're probably not risking death in an expensive gimmick hotelIf you have to sleep in full winter gear instead of pajama pants and a blanket or two, you are on some level risking deathlike sleeping on solid ice with a couple layers of fabric over it

>>217164297My favourite science fiction movie is The Man From Earth which is literally a group of people having a conversation in a living room for 90 minutes. You'd have to ignore the rest of that post to misinterpret it this way so pretend I called you a name for that. The issue isn't a lack of robots, that was a joke. It's a failure to actually explore the implications of the inciting incident and an inability to write to the potential of the plurbs, one of basically only two characters in the fucking show. There's ways around those things if you really don't want them to be the focus of it, but you need to construct your premise better rather than just making your characters as dumb as you hope your audience is.It's also just insulting that the party trick of your "all of human knowledge" character is reciting wikipedia facts, but they didn't bother to at least skim some wiki articles on agriculture or nutrition before making that a major plot element.Meanwhile, pick up any good sci-fi book and there'll be a foreword thanking all their PhD buddies for their correspondence. And usually a joke about some shit they wanted to do before they found out it wouldn't be realistic.Faggot.

>>217164685Your headcanon aside, they wouldn't need to. They already live on a meal replacement made from chemical refinement of existing supplies. Given that they have a coordinated workforce and massive energy surplus they could very likely do this synthetically, let alone shortcutting it by refining biomass sources that they've already established they can collect. They've also begun starving already, despite the fact that many existing domesticated crops would follow their rules: cereals and fruiting bodies drop "fallen apples" almost by definition, we just typically harvest them early for logistical reasons. Many crops whither before harvest, which also fits their rules. Since clearly they have no issue with genetic science, selecting new crops that fit their requirements even better should not be an issue in the time they have.So there should be no problem unless they can't engage in agriculture at all, which they haven't stated. And it's still not a problem if they can. >>217164754You sound like someone who's never been outside, let alone in a tent.

>>217165587all the examples you posted involve thermal sleeping bags or as I said, sleeping with your winter jacket on people who sleep naked in ice hotels do so in hotel-provided heated sleeping bags, not on simple furs laid down on the ice, that's according to google, which you've repeatedly told me to usebecause people would die if they tried to sleep naked on the just the ice with only some kind of thick fabric on top of said iceso get fucked, once again, not the same fucking argument, it never was, you just needed to talk to someone today and that's why you're doing thisI'm doing this because you're wrong and I'm hoping this contributes to your eventual suicide
Realistically, how long do you think it would take for you to get tired of your most degenerate coomer fantasies? I'd think maybe a few months, but then you also have a practically endless supply of people that you can swap out whenever you feel like, so that'd probably keep things interesting.

>>217158331its literally "cool idea" the show. they had a cool idea>dude what if all humans on the plant merged into a single hivemindthats it, thats the show. after this idea they had absolutely nothing else, thus the incredibly slow pace and meandering nothingness of it
>>217169138they've written out Pluribus far in advance, specifically to avoid getting trapped and having to abandon stuff.>In contrast to Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul, the long-term story of Pluribus has been planned out farther in advance with more time to develop the show. This allowed them to avoid mistakes that had been made in the earlier shows, such as the inclusion of the machine gun in the first episode of the final season of Breaking Bad, "Live Free or Die", which Gilligan did not know how to resolve until a breakthrough was made at the writers' table. In the case of Pluribus, the final episode of the first season included the delivery of an atom bomb to Carol, which the writers know will come into the story over its planned four-season run.[28] Season 1's original ending did not include the atom bomb but was changed based on notes from Apple and Sony executives, which Gilligan states created a "better ending".[29] However, Gilligan said he would be willing to drop these plans should a better idea come along in the future.[21]He probably have a rough outline of where it goes and they're filling in details.
>>217168500>two months after the plurbening>turns out the human immune system defeated the virus after all, just took some time>everyone turns back into their regular selves over night>anon leaves his mansion>everyone in the streets looks at him weirdly

>>217169187>chekovs..atom bombI guess it's possible that the atom bomb introduced in the finale episode may come into the plot. I am certain that such subtlety took several shows of experience to implement and prepare properly for
>>217169351I think that if the show goes there (they undo the collective without killing everyone) mankind will descend into a mass psychosis from being suddenly separated again. Imagine how utterly damaging it would be, to find perfect contentment in the hive mind only to get kicked back out into your shitty atomized body. It would be like getting evicted from heaven or something. That will be the real apocalypse, when humanity starts killing itself off in huge numbers because everyone is so miserable remembering how happy they were.

>>217169519I assume they'd all have it blanked out of their minds. Otherwise it would mean people retain the memory of being a hivemind. A single human brain would just be absolutely fucked from the sheer quantity of information
>>217169519>perfect contentment in the hive mind only to get kicked back out into your shitty atomized body. It would be like getting evicted from heaven or something
>>217169736They don't download the information into their brain; they minds are networked. Just like if you has say, a Network Attached Storage, it doesn't need to d/l a copy of a file to your computer to use it; if you're on the network you just access it where it is.Once the collective breaks, you're back to working with your own grey matter, but you can no longer wireless access other minds and their knowledge or muscle memory. If you played piano a lot with the aid of that memory, maybe you could learn enough to keep playing after you lost the connection, though you'd probably be less talented.
