Sam Simon shaped early Simpsons into gold. Matt's ideas were trash (Marge has bunny ears, etc).

dude got tens of millions in royalties until the day he died, even though he left after season 2 (and it shows).

He didn't leave then? He was still active with the show all the way up to 2011.

There is no talent or merit in this world. It's all just luck. Rich, poor, powerful, loser, awarded, failures, it's all just luck 100%.

>only wrote one episode of The Simpsons himself
>other 3 episodes were co-written
>only other successful project was Futurama
Lucky in that he made the show and the writers made it all successful without him having to do a single thing.

> Simon left The Simpsons in 1993; he commented that he "wasn't enjoying it anymore," wished to pursue other projects, and that of "any show I've ever worked on, it turns me into a monster. I go crazy. I hate myself." Before leaving, he negotiated a deal that saw him receive a share of the show's profits every year, particularly from home media, and an executive producer credit despite not having worked on the show since 1993. The deal means he made over $10 million a year from The Simpsons; he later told Stanford Magazine that "tens of millions" was a closer figure.Simon commented: "When I was there I thought I was underpaid. I thought I wasn't getting enough credit for it. Now, I think it's completely the opposite. I get too much credit for it. And the money is ridiculous."

dude was living the dream. few years on a cartoon show, insane amounts of money in royalties for the rest of his life.

The quality of the early simpsons seasons was because of the writing, which he had nothing to do with.
He drew the original cartoons, that's it.
