Vertically shot filmmaking is how we get gen z interested in cinema again
>>
is this one of those Quibi shows?
>>
apparently you're right with "microdrama" trending on tiktok, but it seems to be aimed at largely women for now with typical love triangles etc
>>
>>217168557
Gen Z are sheep. You need someone they accept shilling this shit to them. There's a reason why "influencer" is a job now, because there's a lot of shallow young people incapable of thinking for themselves.
>>
>>217168557
This is common in China
>>
>>217168593
There are some filmmakers doing more with it beyond social media content

>conquered and colonized almost every single corner of the earth

Huh
>>
Microdramas are a thing in Asia and they’ll try to bring the format here eventually
>>
>>217168557
>>217168619
this is so fucking stupid
4:3 is great but this is just autism
>>

Men and women's entertainment interests will be split further. This is more the type of content I'm interested in

Women are already making their decision
>>
>>217168557
I'd rather cinema die a dignified death once and for all.

I don't know who invented this choreography for women flipping and spinning on dudes like a monkey but it's ruined action films

You can watch older kinos while the rest of the world moves on. Or you can take the vertical pill with the old classics like vidrel
>>
Mighty stupid.
>>
>>217168557
Yeah, forget all that technical bullshit like framing, just make it vertical lmao
>>
>>217168650
We're a damn fine shot and we're techniclogically advanced over our targets. We don't think spears but we have enough Javelins for that bitch ass.
>>
so, they literally just don't know how to turn their phones sideways?
>>
>>217169087
Unironically pro wrestling. It's supposed to read as building up momentum to throw larger targets but it is really a lighter person being moved around like a prop. Although when she was swinging around and upside down, it would have been sweet if dude dropped to his knees and hit her with a wicked Tombstone.
>>
>>217168557
We shouldn't give two fucks what Gen Z wants from cinema, and I don't want to watch movies on a fucking cell phone. Awful idea. Everything about this format is completely wrong for cinema; imagine trying to show a landscape or wide-angle shot.
>>
>>217169237
It's more comfortable to hold a phone in vertical. Mind you, Gen Z is the post-PC gen. Everything is a phone or a tablet. It is also why typing is dead.
>>
>>217168557
why does he punch 3 feet above where her head was?
>>
I know some people that make money by adapting Asian soap operas to vertical tiktok videos. It’s already being done
>>
>>217168557
I know a few actors who have been involved with verticals. From what I'm told, they shoot like 30-60 minutes worth of completed content each day, and then chop them up into small chunks ('episodes') for phone viewing in Asia. Because the process is so fast, there's very little time to make it good so the actors are basically just reciting their lines awkwardly and then having badly-choreographed action scenes.
OP is actually considerably higher quality than I expected
>>
>>217169128
>zoomer doesn't understand framing
All that extra shit on screen doesn't make it look better. It's just dead space.

The industry has massively slowed down since the last strike. You don't notice it as a viewer because hollywood still has a similar output. But commercials and lower budget films/shows have dried up a lot. A lot of agents have been dropping clients because of this too.
Verticals will hire just about anyone in the west. The pay isn't great but it's reliable (unlike bollywood shit) and at least you're making money from acting instead of working retail just to pay your bills.
>>
>>217168706
Yes, but the British and Dutch (two biggest and longest lasting modern Empires) were (((mercantile))) empires and primarily used trade, bribery and trickery to expand.

I can easily take a headlight cover off on older cars to replace them or the headlights but newfag shit has me taking out the entire front bumper assembly because they want to fuck you in the ass to go to their dealer for repairs and upcharges. Had an Apple Ipod classic that needed it's battery replaced, turns out Apple even back then was pretty shitty as it had 20 separate locking pins in it that you could tell was designed to make you go to their store to charge you for the repair plus replacement parts. At my last job in a warehouse we had a little tractor with a seat sensor that needed weight for it to operate, sensor broke and it took me and another guy 2 hours to keep the sensor linked while trying to get the seat down because the boss didn't want to take it to the manufacturer since our work hours to fix it was far cheaper then taking it there. I cannot imagine how fucked Samsung purposely engineered that thing to be a bitch to fix on your own.

Gosh damn filmfags are obsessed with including a hurricanrana for every woman fight like they’re Rey Mysterio. Just make them a chun-li bitch that likes to kick to at least mix it up. Watching these action scenes in painful. At 0:03 the guy isn’t even swinging at her and is trying to knock out the ghost of Andre the Giant instead of a short beaner. At 0:05 he parries/catches her arm mid punch and stares at her until she does a joint lock at his wrist.

This fight choreagraphy is in every fucking movie even dramas. I can see vertical framing working if the shots were intended to be shot that way. You would change angle and position to account for it.

At least they're putting some effort into choreographing it accordingly though it still requires massive suspension of disbelief. The problem with many of these "tiny girls fighting men twice her size" is that the director usually always has them fighting like men especially in the last 10-15 years and it's just so lazy. Ballerina was praised by shills for Armas kicking a guy in the balls in the trailer after her trainer told her to "fight dirty" and correctly pointed out a woman is always at a major disadvantage when fighting men and of course a lot of morons bought into it but when you watch the actual movie they quickly drop that angle and she fights like a man the entire rest of it and she only loses to Keanu because even the woke writers and director didn't dare go that far.
>>
>>217169128
Looks great for establishing shots but doesn't really highlight the focus of the scene.
>>
>>217180815
It's about the idea really. They can make it better when it's shot for that mode specifically
