Woah
>>217175202check out "the alpinist" next. starts with an alex honnold voice over
>You can't free me because I'm not supposed to leave the vault!
>>217175202I watched this on a projector in a cabin in Mariposa, the night before hiking Yosemite. kino experience
>>217175250Nice, thanks
>>217175202>DUDE FREE SOLO>*uses magic sticky glue powder*Into the trash it goes
>>217175202Meru is better
an indigenous native did that climb thousands of years ago and a white man shows up and claims hes the first
>tilted camera to make moderately steep slope look like sheer cliff
>Honnold>holds shit>>217175596unironically. Also>preps with ropes and shit 1000 times before doing it without a rope>supposed to be impressiveIt's like those streamers that beat Dark Souls no hit with a dance pad, like yeah it's impressive at first, but then you think about how they just autistically practiced and spammed the game a million times and it's actually pretty meh and lame
Worst Star Wars movie desu
>In theatres this fall
>>217175866Rooftopping and Freerunning is more kino and entertaining. There usually is very little prep work involved as a runner gets more skilled he starts to believe in his ability to instantly adapt to the terrain. This leads to kino or fails with spectacular results. If i'm going to bother watching a mentally ill risk-seeking individual, it better be authentic
The fact they had music, at all, during the climb completely ruined it.Should have just been silence, him breathing, and the sounds of rock scraping etc
it's impressive. but the fact he's an emotionless sperg robot kind of kills the romanticism of it. That's what makes Man on Wire so much better
>>217176183>russian death>tragic
>cut the actual climb footagewhat an odd filmmaking choice
>>217175202Return of the Jedi?
>>217175866It's not like he was even the first or is the absolute best to do it too. There were guys doing harder routes than his records when he was too young to walk.
>>217175866>you mean he had TO WORK FOR IT?>ew, this gives me the ickYour brain is female
>>217175202>specifically engineered super sticky powder on his hands>specifically engineered super sticky rubber on his feet>wow so impressiveThis dude couldn't have fell even if he wanted to
>>217177556A great movie, but what does that have to do with this thread
>>217176360>there should be more emotiongrats your just like that foid gf of his
>>217177596Why are you so mad about this?
I'm free soloing right now actually, it's ok I guess.
>>217178454If that's an innuendo it's completely lost on me
>>217175202I found him, his girlfriend and his cool friends filming him to be so insufferable I turned it off when he finally did get to the part or climbing at the end
>>217177776Isn't that the movie where they free Solo?
>>217175202A true testament to the White man's spirit
>>217176360Yet he has a cute gf
>>217176287I'll take melodramatic music over fake studio recorded documentary sounds any day. I can't stand that shit.
>>217181309>get gf>2 times close to dieheh everytime
>>217175866>video game analogyKill yourself unironically.
>>217175202It's hilarious that you can tell his gf just latched onto him to leech off his fame and notoriety, and he's clearly got lingering resentment for her for dropping him and breaking his back.
>>217175202 >yeah, I can climb this solo, and all I need is...>these specialized rubber shoes that allow me to grip the wall, without them it's impossible >these shoes are made in a sweatshop factory in bangladesh and the waste is dumped into the local river - did I ever tell you I'm a vegan and an environmentalist? >and this magic sticky powder, otherwise I'd lose hold and slip>and to rehearse the route for months and months until I guarantee I can do every hold>conveniently placed cracks all the way up to the top that I can grip on to>but yeah, I can solo it>"it's all about the mental aspect, that's what makes it so impressive"
>>217176140
He is climbing some office tower in Asia this month on a livestream
and the wookie
>>217181913hes climbing taipei 101 and it will be unfortunately a trivial and unremarkable ascentits only notable because its hard to get permission to do it
>>217175202>moggs your cuck solo>black pills you about women
>>217175604Based Meru poster.
>>217177596he is the first to do it without a rope and is obviously the absolute best to do it.
>>217179833yes alex is quite literally the only likeable person in the documentary. his climber friends and filmmakers are brimming with ego and his girlfriend is a certified retard who wonders why the autist she is with who only cares about climbing doesn't want to stop climbing. is he still her her IRL?i figured they would last another 6 months after the doc ended.
>>217182129Him and his gf clearly hate each other
>>217182129Jimmy Chin seems likeable enough desu, watch Meru and you might like him.
>>217175866hello tranny
Other good climbing films?Seen Meru, Dawn Wall and Touching the Void.
>>217175596thats actually precum from the crevice
>>217181495you're just jealous that he got a free can of solo as a reward for climbing that huge fat rock
>>217175596>>*uses magic sticky glue powder*All chalk does is dry up the hands so they don't slip. You're thinking of tacky which strongmen use to lift atlas stones. Climbers never use that stuff.
>>217182090You don't know that, maybe a native did it first and even faster
>>217182129alex main climbing buddy, white guy whos a lil older than him, was very likeable too and obviously cared about his friend, maybe watch the movie without scrolling tiktok next time
>>217183681You're so fucking disingenuous.
I think what Anon is arguing about is that it would be impressive if he had this huge experience climbing every kind of rock for years and then suddenly face the necessity to climb this new rock without knowing it first and without equipment, say he got stranded or something. Then it would be worthy of the hype, since true ability would come into play. But rehearsing the same climb over and over until he knows every crevice and crack by heart and with eyes closed? Not that impressive.
>>217183932It's clearly just contrarianism.
