This was just an act, right? there's no way the plurbs sleep like this. THey say it's to conserve energy on heating/cooling, but look at all this fucking wastes space. Look at those shitty futon fucking sleeping bags on concrete. Zosha and Carol probably drove past 5 mattress stores to get to this place, and any one of them would make for a better communal sleep center.
>>217190974Its not enough space for the amount of people we know are living there but I think its just laziness and low budget in action. It does make a bit of sense that they wouldn't ALL sleep huddled together because diseases though.
>>217190974It was probably a sanitized version of reality. The plurb are pretty good at propaganda. Just look at that HDP infomercial.I assume most of them sleep in some tight spaces, bunched together, optimized for space and heating. They would not bother with a full stadium. What Zosia showed Carol was eerily similar to what you would see during a hurricane-type state of emergency where everyone has to work together and hunker down.
APOLOGIZE.

>>217197987>casting kino before the swine
>>217197794Season 2 was one of the biggest fuckups in modern entertainment. S1 was so well plotted and paced, and the finale shook up the status quo in just the right way and set up plenty of new threads, and then S2 was just one big cop out. I'm cautiously optimistic that Pluribus won't follow the same path because Vince swears he has a clear idea of where he wants the show to go in future seasons, but there's always the risk of Sony/Apple execs ruining it.

Such collectivism would make only sense if there is a central intelligence/a borg queen tier of control. They are an emergent single entity born of the data corpus. >How much of the Hivemind is a gestalt and how much is a collective like the Geth? From where such decisions came from? Why it needs to be so utilitarian? From where the command comes? I need answers. It's all emergent, tiny fundamental parts plus scale = capabilities and motivations that are powerful and reprogrammed. The utilitarian part is unspecified, it could also be emergent or it could be a deliberate feature to make the planet's intelligence destroy itself. They co-opt the planet's energy to send the mind virus signal, then die in the process. The originator comes along and takes the now empty planet.

>>217208077lol, funnily enough, it's not the show that's irrelevant. It's the entirety of apple TV that's irrelevant. The only apple threads that I've seen that dont need constant bumping is only on new episode days. A good friend of mine is a turbo consoomer who has literally every anime and streaming service, EXCEPT apple. I'm pretty sure the only people who even have an apple TV just got it forced on them with a bundle
>>217207821Nah, that definitely was a big cost factor, but nowhere near 135 million. Renting all of those planes and helicopters was definitely expensive too. Vince is a plane enthusiast and he definitely blew a lot of his bloated budget on those. They also filmed at location a lot, the Las Vegas stuff must have been expensive to film. Generally every time they have to empty out a big public space to make it look abandoned.
>>217207050Speak for yourself, I was always into them. Downside is that I know I'll never find 60+ women attractive, Helen Mirren minus a decade or so excluded.

>>217208021Both Mano and Zosia are made for abuse
>>217208302>the Las Vegas stuff must have been expensive to film. Generally every time they have to empty out a big public space to make it look abandoned.Vegas Strip has actually been pretty fucked ever since covid. so probably not as expensive or hard as you might think to clear out a casino floor for a few hours. But yeah, they definitely spent a lot on renting locations
Just finished it in two day.Overall quite liked it.I suppose it's extremely slow, the content of each episode fits in 3 sentences.I like a lot of the scenery, but I still feel there's a lot of blue screen, even on the rooftops. Will there be an explanation for why they are capable of moving any vehicle but unlearned how to recognize sarcasm and the ins and outs of not being creepy? Or, given they have energy efficiency incentive, they make no recommendation of not using giant airplanes to fly 5 people? Also, why would it be against their rules to encourage breeding of cows and then just eating the dead. I mean if they let wild animals free, clearly they don't care to manage how many animals get eaten. I mean I suppose you can explain it by just postulating a strict hierarchy of desires, but yeah I don't know to which extent their selective passivity is coherent. I suppose it's to keep the tension, but imho Carol doesn't seem to ask many obvious questions when she could. Like, what are most people doing, apart from building a big signal thing. Not that a sci-fi show needs to be completely logical either, this is just what crossed my mind watching it.
>>217196800Everyone talks about the tattoo girl, but where's the love for the big booty nurse?
>>217208797>Will there be an explanation for why they are capable of moving any vehicle but unlearned how to recognize sarcasm and the ins and outs of not being creepyI assume its because they have access to the sum total of human knowledge, and can easily recall objective facts and stuff like that. But they have trouble dealing with the more intangible things like emotional nuance, because that is filtered through the subjective perception of many different people. also, the hive is still immature as a collective consciousness. They will learn to lie, hate, and even kill before the series is over
>>217208449Westgate is not really on the strip, it's on Paradise Rd which runs parallel to to the strip, but it's in the immediate area. Still it's a busy road, so shutting it down for even a day or two of filming would be a huge pain in the ass. But these days a lot of extraneous stuff can be erased with CGI, too. I think the scene where Carol watches the plurbs drive away on the hotel roof was entirely green screen.>t. vegasfag
>>217208797>>217209022They did recognize that Carol might have been being sarcastic, but as they are an inherently trusting collective, they also had reason to doubt that her words were insincere.>Also, why would it be against their rules to encourage breeding of cows and then just eating the dead.Their own starvation isn't a concern for them. And aside from that, enforcing any form of containment or control seems to be against their nature. They could also just overgrow to have enough "windfall", but again, they don't actually seem to care.
>>217209035>the scene where Carol watches the plurbs drive away on the hotel roof was entirely green screen.Yeah it was, but that one also looked horrible and was very obvious. Unlike the Las Vegas stuff.
>>217209373Well I want to act that with how the show is set up, I think it's a category error to think of it as being about collectivism at all. It's not too hard to read the whole thing as a "14 people left on earth" situation. It's not collectivism if several bodies think as one. Every action is following their own goals or incentives, not that of another individual. In that sense, "they" are individualistic. There's no two people where one would do a sacrifice or could put expectation on the other.desu this also plays into the no concern argument that you bring. It's true.where one of them is a retarded but powerful (and secretive, but merely due to it being written - the character just don't ask enough)---Ah and one blunder which strikes me as almost plot hole'ish is that when Carol is on the plane after airport scene, at the end of the episode, that she asks to get out to "stop the other plane". I mean the guys who let her out are the same as those going with the other plane. And if Carol would be let to put 1+1 together, she doesn't have to get out to signal that she wants the Pirate lady, she can just tell whoever is flying her own plane.
>>217208398lol yeah, i'm never paying for it either. But I have to admit, I do really appreciate the corporate strategy Apple TV is using. Apple as a whole is profitable enough that they can just make prestige TV award-bait and not fucking care that no one is paying for it
As someone with difficulty trusting/being comfortable around people the episodes feel less about world domination and more about the struggle to open up to others, allowing yourself to be vulnerable as well as rejecting happiness that comes with it. I won't say it moves me to tears but I look at Carol, Manousos rejecting others and clinging to their... separateness so strongly. At first I thought they weren't taken into the collective because of some trauma that caused them to reject the unity but other characters don't fit that explanation (and the girl who willingly joins the many is a very explicit inversion)
>>217209838good post
>>217208797Carol is a faulty character. She was going into the right direction only because of her shock and spite, and even then she ended up burning the bridges with other survivors because she lacks tact.In contrast, Manuosos is even more spiteful character but is capable of solving the epidemic. He's just going to need Carol and her accident based findings to reach the needed conclusions.>The originator comes along and takes the now empty planet.I doubt it. It makes more sense that the virus is merely self replicating and the originators might've even created it by accident and died out. Space travel would take enormous amount of resources and time to be worth it.
>>217209838>allowing yourself to be vulnerable as well as rejecting happiness that comes with ityeah, one of the things that jumped out at me was how literally they were acting out relationships like that. The plurbs were LITERALLY giving Carol the entire world, and even that was not enough to make her happy, and even that just wasnt enough
>>217209587>I think it's a category error to think of it as being about collectivism at all.Hive minds are collectives by definition. Many parts acting as one.>And if Carol would be let to put 1+1 togetherOne of Carol's "faults" is that she treats them as humans and individuals. And as she's so individualistic herself, she's used to doing a lot of stuff on her own without telling anyone. Aside from just being dramatic by running out on the tarmac, she's tends not to direct any of the plurbs in the first place.

i don't understand why Manousos is so autistic and stubborn that he would rather eat dog food, sugar packets and/or starve than accept food from a plurb but he just totally unthinkingly trusts and accepts a package from them. so you think they're trying to kill you via food but that they wouldn't fill an envelope with anthrax or something? he's actually retarded and can't even be a conspiracytard correctly.
>>217193243His little spiel to the plurbs before entering the gap was pure cinema
>>217214285Well I read him as the ethical to self-rightous foil, as opposed to the individualist loner Karen American and the collectivist Asians. While I think it plays a role, I don't think being afraid to get poison is the only reason he reject it. The "stolen" items, as he says.
>>217214285He doesn't trust the plurbs because by ignoring them he didn't get any of the information about their motivations and boundaries that Carol did, and he only took the envelope because it was different from the usual meals his mother left him and I guess it piqued his curiosity.
