What's the appeal of speedsters? They pretty much just necessitate bad, contrived writing to be introduced to a story just to not make them OP and solve every plot instantly. Why is it necessary that there be someone that's "sixty quintillion times the speed of light" in a story? Why can't they just be "quite fast"?

"Ok let's add a guy that's faster than light. Ok now let's find a bunch of ways to nerf him so our story works"

What's the point of this?
