You guys need to get it in your head that a show that's meant to appeal to a broader audience has to be very easy to grasp to the casual viewer. Factions work in the games because, as you play, you learn through the characters the ideological and philosophical framework that binds them together. And, most importantly, the tangible influence each main faction holds on the wasteland. Example, a cursory glance at the Legion paints them as a hostile group of slavers in football gear obsessed with Old World Roman aesthetic. But they are quite serious and adhere to discipline. They hold territory in most of the South West and it turns out that their trading routes are much safer for commerce than any other caravaneer, including the NCR. They have a reason to exist.

The show decided to cut 80 IQ points for each faction because the story needed it to. A bunch of retards fighting over bullshit makes it easier for the audience to grasp that these groups are falling apart. Lucy can just hop and skip across the Mojave worry free aside for some unimportant raiders like the Great Khans.

Now, this ultimately is fine because it works in the end, but it makes New Vegas out to be a worn down rusted theme park filled with morons swigging beers and hitting each other with sticks.

Do not mistake neutering as a homage, it's more like a burial. You see, this is all according to great Todd's plan: remove all major, established civilization centers in the lore. Reason being, Bethesda wants to do another "shoot the nameless raiders in ruined world" type of game. Why bother with complex story and world building when you just gotta provide some ruins and heads to shoot at. Civilization in fallout setting is just asking for a good writer and Bethesda doesn't have them.

For me, it would be much more interesting to see what shady sands have become, how they've adapted the old tech and culture. Spice things up with New Vegas and the NCR - House dynamics get interesting.

Instead Shady Sands is now a boring crater, and New Vegas seems to be another dungeon with ghouls and Deathclaw as a boss. This sucks, show itself is fine, but the lore is fucking ruined.

Oh I forgot BoS is effectively gone too, they will devolve into civil war and probably most of their influence will be gone. F5 will have 16 times the detail, but will be 16 times less interesting. I swear if I will have to go out into the wasteland because my 3rd line cousin sperged out and went looking for prime super mutant pussy, I will just lose interest in series and will resort to playing Russian Fallout 2 mods forever.

That's because they are, it's a suspension of disbelief. By making maps and areas in games a manageable size, it means the details and story won't be spread too thin. It's why some games that have really large maps feel empty and boring. So them having LA being as it would be in reality and then New Vegas being a 1:1 of the tiny game version is extremely jarring.

The lack of people is weird considering it wasn't an issue in season 1, and they put noticeable effort into making recognizable locations 1:1 for very little payoff when there's no life in them.
The season 2 writers seem to lack object permanence, because nothing seems to happen offscreen, not even conversation between Lucy and Ghoul on the 250 mile walk from LA to Vegas.
If they were trying to save money (let alobe time), why not just reference the route they took, with offscreen adventures? Even a bit of montage in recognizable places would have gone a long way, instead of scenes in the empty sets without much importance. It reminds me of the Game of Thrones behind the scenes where they built Winterfell and Kings Landing towns but never filmed in them.

About the only real cheaping out is when you can tell it's not the Mojave because of all the vegetation.

This is just nonsensical, maybe a hot take, but as someone who has played through FO1/2 (+1.5/Nevada/Sonora) multiple times, even New Vegas is nowhere near the tone of Classic Fallout. Classic Fallout is far more grim, industrial, neo-gothic setting than how the series shifted in Fallout 3. You can tell from the architecture and tone, that Pre-War Fallout in Classic Fallout looked far more like the hyper gothic art deco Gotham City in Batman 89 than a super colourful hunky dory, 1950s world. By the end of Fallout 2, yes there are major countries like NCR, much of humanity seems to live as isolated tribals, something you would see in the Amazon or that Island where they throw spears at Helicopters.
