One, it was an insatiable craving for edgy politically incorrect comedy at a time when the world was so culturally PC and woke. People forget how bad it was back in the late 2010's and that's in correlation to when comedy really started to thrive and receive mainstream attention. People wanted to see funny people tell funny jokes without being lectured about social norms and the kinds of language they use or should be used. The second reason is simply because there was an influx of insanely talented names that were hustling during this time to deliver funny content. Through podcasting to promote their comedy, we in real time got to witness some of the funniest people in the world like Shane. Mark Normand, Joe, List, Big Jay Oakerson, Dan, Soder, the CumTown guys, and more rise in this weird generational run of brilliant comedy minds that all seemed to pop around the same time. Some People on the internet like to meme on the comedy scenes for lulz or whatever since its become so popular that its inevitably gonna be attacked and joked about, but it is impressive how good stand-up and comedy in general has become despite it being targeted for years during the woke era. I do think it's eventually going to fall out of style like it always does and will pick up steam again in the following decade or so but the current run is still going strong and I think 2025 is a good example of that given all the excellent comedy specials that came out that year.
