You need an army of excellent draftsmen to bust their asses for at least half a decade in order to make a feature length animation. 2D has historically been cheaper to produce than 3D, but the other issue is that it takes longer. If anyone is going to make 2D animation, it's an independent or small studio, because bean counters don't want to put up the money for that long of a payoff anymore.

I myself who loved animation as a kid and wanted to be an animator was amazed by the pixar short and subsequently toy story. While I appreciated traditional key frame animation CGI was a whole next level of quality that even to this day like when i try look for an anime movie I gravitate towards CGI.Ultimately though for me I am looking for art style over just 1 style.
