I think the thing about Omar is that instead of spending 100% of his money on drugs n sheiiit he thought ahead slightly and invested in armor so compared to every single other person in the projects he is amazing.
I only watched the wire up until the one prison murder and I lost interest in literally the only character that I was interested in so I don't know if there is a real reason for Omar.
