We as the audience naturally side with Don Ramon as we see his side of the story and how he tries his best to provide for la Chilindriana, but Barriga also had a family, pay taxes, feed Ñoño and such. Also, the fact that a "rich kid" like Ñoño went to the same school as el Chavo is a subtle way to tell us Barriga wasn't doing as good as someone might guess.
