I'm most the way through season one and I'm hooked. Why don't more anons post about this show? Does it turn brown and gay in the next two seasons? I feel like it aired early enough not to get hit with that. My only complaint so far is Calamity Jane. Bitch is fuckin annoying.
it's too smart for most of the hoopleheads on this board
>>217213950>Why don't more anons post about this show? Filtered by the dialogue>Does it turn brown and gay in the next two seasons?Technically, yes. More focus on (well written) black characters and some lesbianism.
Widow Garret’s stinky underoos
>>217213984this
>>217213984and here's fucking Bullock striding around like some maniac fucking bishop
>>217214012Funny. Lesbos were excepted for a gritty adult show in the early 2000s, but the world wouldn't accept buttfucking cowboys at that point. If the show was made 10-15 years later it'd be a whole different story.
>>217213950Mostly because we've all seen it already, like 15yrs ago.Keep going though, it just gets better.
>>217214193forgive me for being a zoomer
>>217213950board is full of adhd zoomers and polmutts, they don't have the patience to sit and actually watch a good tv show, they'd rather make 50 threads crying about the latest star wars or capeshit they haven't even watched.
>>217214193If she just fucked and sucked a little her infiltration wouldn’t have gone so poorly
>>217214193How many sopranos, breaking bad and lotr threads are there every day
>>217213950Issue with deadwood is that it is partly non-fiction. Sometimes it feels like a let down because the story doesnt climax where other shows would. Despite that it is very good but i would say S1 was my favourite
>>217214235>PLURIBUSHoly fuckballs.
I assume everyone in the town has some sort of STD from sharing the same whores
>
>>217214883kek this was actually a problem in frontier towns because there were in reality very few women around that weren't whoresthe male to female ratio was like 15 or 20:1that's why so much emphasis was put on cycling in new whores, bringing in new talent constantly. It was a biological concern
>>217213950>nothing happens after wild bill dies: the showI sleep.
>>217215156The show has so many great moments after that, you're retarded>entire Wu/Swedgin relationship>Hearst's agent Wolcott being one of the best acted characters in television history>The Nigger General and Super Racist Steve>the Al passes a stone sagaI'm just going to stop here because this is enough to make me realize you suck cock BY CHOICE

>>217213950>hbo>3 seasonsmight give this a try since it didnt last long enough for them to ruin it with thier usual horseshit
>>217216644you're an idiot
>>217216957Nta but try forming an argument instead of making a butthurt shitpost. I wouldn’t say it fell apart quick but it definitely went downhill and the movie was basically a fuck you to the fans.

why aren't there like 20 contrarians in here calling the show dogshit?
>>217219160There isn’t even five I bet. There’s multiple posts saying it’s not perfect and I bet they do t even number ten. It’s contrarian to not be pro gay pride these days. It’s just a lazy accusation that means nothing and protects you from having to defend your position. Stop being so sensitive to people not simping for your point of view.

>>217219420She's not glorified really. She's portrayed as a total trainwreck drunk and also a complete fucking coward. If it was made today, she would be girlbossing and slitting Hearst's throat.
>HARRY! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WAITIN' FOR!?
>>217213984fpbp, David Milch is a genius
>>217219499Yep.If you think /tv/ sleeps on Deadwood, /tv/ sleeps on NYPD way more. One of the biggest shows of the 90s and the quality's great too. Sipowicz was his original Al.
>>217219584/tv/ sleeps on John From Cincinnati more than both. Think it's just me and one other chooch who've ever posted about it.
>>217219593That one pisses me off too much because he killed Deadwood for it.
>>217213950To truly apprehend the arcane patois of that godforsaken spectacle Deadwood, a man must possess a wit sharp as a gambler's blade, IQ cresting the triple digits in measure 'tis a vexation profound for the foreign-tongued brown souls striving to unravel its tangled yarns and profane eloquence.
>>217213950>Why don't more anons post about this show?Coz it's 58 years old and it got cancelled.
>>217213984Filling it full of swearing dropped the intelligence of the show significantly.
>>217216916Rome is complete garbage. Nothing but tits and swearing, and it's shot so poorly it looks terrible.I watched it back to back with I, Claudius and Rome was just insulting.
Deadwood FUCKS like no other. Easily a top 5 alltime show, and season 2 is probably my alltime favorite season of television. While I would obviously have preferred to get the season 4 we were so cruelly denied, I think the way season 3 ends, both onscreen and with regard to the show's meta narrative, is absolutely and beautifully fitting. Nothing parallels Al's villain to hero turn. He is not an anti hero- we end up rooting for him because he becomes a based righteous true hero. Two scenes sum it up: when he tells Trixie life is just one vile task after another and when he tells Merrick pain ain't the end of things, stand it like a man and give some back. Tony is a grasping spoiled nepo baby. A lazy indulgent impulsive slob. Al is a hard scrabble survivor. Is he also a viscious pimp? No doubt. He ain't a role model. But it was a lawless 1870s mining camp. What else could he have been? Now take your passage... cocksucker.
>>217213984 This. That's why they keep spamming Sopranos and Breaking Bad instead of The Wire, Deadwood and Generation Kill. People want the cheap soap opera instead of legit kino.
>>217220027the movie sucks
>>217213950It gets real fucking boring once the characters are kind of settled in
>>217220393And you were egg-hatched like Richardson. Tell us something we don't know.
>>217214193YOU WITH YOUR FUCKIN BEADY LITTLE RAT EYES
>>217219160deadwood threads dont get enough (You)'s. if the show ever gets a resurgence, you will probably see some fag make a spammable image macro or the equivalent that will then get posted constantly
>>217220393Fuck off, hooplehead
The show fails to go anywhere and becomes stale midway through s2. People get fooled because acting is good and dialogue funny. It suffers from boring overarching plot / antagonist and the movie ages them Stranger Things like.
>>217220027>What else could he have been?not a vicious pimp killer piece of shitanon you have a serious daddy issue
Is there anythingthat arouses that same feeling as Deadwood? I don't want to see cowboys staring cryptically at each other and shooting anymore.
>>217221104>that same feeling as DeadwoodJustified is basically "what if Bullock's autism didn't prevent him from killing people" and uses a lot of the same cast.Luck is Milch and has similar character writing but no violence.
>>217221104Only things with really good writing.Star Trek, from TOS and TNG, DS9, and even VOY at times, is a show that I think also keeps a high writing standard and is mostly the same guys on staff. The Wire also has pretty tight writing -- it's just largely buried in ebonics but season 2 really showcases it clearly. The original Twilight Zone is also top-tier.Beyond that, you're probably only going to find dialogue of that level in literature. Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde's gay ass.
>>217214191Crust justice is a fairly recent trend.
>>217213950soap opera for manchildrenalso dialogue sucks
>>217213950Two words hype backlashDeadwood was INSANELY popular during its run especially with hipster types for whom it was baby's first edgy western. But as time passed most people turned off on it as it being deemed over hyped and that the third season was God awful.Ironically the only thing that gets positively talked about these days is Olyphantz's performance. When the show first aired, Tim was deemed the weak on the show but after Justified, there was a push by fans of that show to reevaluate his acting on Deadwood since fans felt that Olyphantz's acting was good on Deadwood and much of the hate was due to fans thinking he was a pretty boy not a real actor
>>217222032>But as time passed most people turned off on it as it being deemed over hyped and that the third season was God awful.
>>217222032>Olyphantz's performanceEven Olyphant has said he didn't understand the dialogue. But yeah he was great at portrayig the seething autist aspect of Bullock.
>>217213950Shit late seasons, and film many years too late to fix them.
>>217222253Gay
>>217213950First season is top tier television but then the plot just meanders into a bunch of meaningless scheming where every character is always speaking in code and nothing ever really happens. Great characterization and acting but the overarching plot really runs out of steam after S1
>>217223101Weren't they trying to portray a historically accurate progression of the camp?
>>217223157They did build the whole damn camp as a set
