Fring killed babies and was constantly threatening to kill everyone on his staff, just like he box-knifed that guy in front of everyone to "send a message". He was going to kill them all(except maybe Mike) after he was done with them.

Walt was WAY more successful after this, his most successful days were when him and Todd were cooking. That's where he made the 80 mil he ends up with. The only reason he fell was because Hank found a fuckin book on the toilet, and Jesse became a snitch. And even then, if this fat fuck wasn't standing there when Jesse went to go talk to Walt, Walt would have likely been able to talk Jesse out of selling him out. The whole conclusion of this story was written as a bunch of sad coincidences playing out, which I mean that's how life is. Bullshit happens.

Maybe financially, but he wrecked his partnership with Jesse, was heavily distrusted by Mike, and was estranged by Skyler.
By the time he killed Gus, the DEA got his computer and he was still running to cover his tracks, which led to them figuring out the routing number to Gus' bank accounts in the Cayman Islands, which led to more running around frantically to cover his tracks. There was never a real moment where Walt could sit and relax and have a shitheap of money, while being beloved by his wife and kids and everyone around him. He let everything snowball so much, that he ended up ruining a bunch of friendships and relationships, because of his ego.

This only went further when Hank revealed he had suspicions about Gus' fake identity which is shown to be one of the few things to make him twitch and be extremely uncomfortable
And yeah Gus wasn't above hurting anyone who was related to Walt and knew anything. What about Skyler? He may have taken her out because she knew about his meth dealings. Jesse's other pals? Walt's ego IS a negative in various cases (like his attempts to get Jesse on his side normally fail because he literally goes "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME!" which while true is extremely tactless and setting himself up for failure. His main goal the entire time was providing for his family, covering the costs of his cancer and ensuring they were taken care of after his death. He failed at this. Everyone talks about how he had the offer from Elliot which would have solved his problems. No one talks about how it ends with him crawling back to Gretchen and Elliot to take the offer after all.

That's the point of the character, the contradiction between the family man and the hedonist. If Walt didn't care about his family he wouldn't have tried constantly to get back to Skyler or save and help Hank whenever he could.
Skyler is also hypocritical, she's not as corrupt as Walt but she's still helping him launder money and by season 5 she doesn't collaborate with Hank on revealing Walt because she knows that'd land her ass in jail. Neither are good people and retards like you are shit at basic comprehension

If Walt didn't care about his family, he wouldn't have tried to save Hank. He wouldn't have lied on the phone when he knew the cops were listening so that Skyler would remain innocent. He would have no reason to do so many of the things he did. His immediate family was extremely important to him. So was his pride. The pride won, but he cared for his family for the entire duration of the show. Characters don't need to be 100% black or white. He was an evil man but still loved his family. He had multiple motivrs and emotions.

I think the difference is that Mike was talking about when Walter choose to sage Jesse rather than let things play out by killing those two crooks himself. Had he done that Gus would've had no issues with him whatsoever, and Jesse would've been disposed of, the same way Mike had to accept Ziegler had to go.
Where Mike errs is that he believes Walt did this purely out of the ego of having Jesse around rather than a genuine affection for him, qlbeit it is more of a half measure of the two.

BCS ruined this show because walt and jessies problems are so small fry and they are such shitty useless incompetent people with no personality/character compared to the characters we get to know in BCS
