If you didn't see it in theaters you missed out on a lot. The scale and spectacle is an important part of the experience.

Oh, yeah it is entirely that. All of the sci-fi and "real physics of blackholes WOOAH" stuff is just window-dressing for a very basic story about how love can transcend time, or whatever.
It's still a fun movie and quite a spectacle but people shouldn't pretend like it's hard sci-fi or some kind of masterful exploration of the human condition. It is fundamentally a love story about people travelling across space and time.
