Sweeney plays an ex-con who has to find a job as part of her parole ASAP or go back to jail. She gets a job as a maid to a wealthy couple who live outside of town via trickery but the wife (Seyfried) is legit insane and self mutilates and spends the first act of the film terrorizing Sweeney and her husband/kid, who bond with Sweeney. Second act of the film is the husband and Sweeney falling in love and having Seyfried sent to the insane asylum when she tries to kill the two and her kid after finding out about the affair. Third act is Sweeney finding out that the husband is evil, that Seyfried was a didn't do nothing that he straight up drove insane for fun via locking her up in the attic/forced the ER to self mutilate herself whenever she broke one of his draconian rules and that he had gotten bored with her and decided to replace her with Sweeney, starting the cycle of abuse all over again with her. Seyfried managed to get out of the looney bin and rescues Sweeney and they kill her husband and decide to live together as "friends" after faking the husband's death as an accident.
