Why did birds of prey flop?
>>
Well your image already answers it. It alone doesnt sell but if you push for the opposite gaze then you scare off the biggest comic book movie fans.
>>
>>217234450
>>
Because Midgot Robbie didn't show her titties
>>
>>217234481
Also these days its box office for that budget in the superhero genre is hardly a flop anymore. Was in those days though.
>>
>>217234450
Both are ugly as shit designs, but atleast I can jerk off to the left one.
>>
>>217234450
>Why did a shit movie flop?
It's a mystery.
>>
>>217234450
It wasn't feminist enough. DC needs more feminism in their movies.
>>
>>217234450
It was a spin-off of a spin-off of a failed capeshit series with a name that gave nothing away
>>
>>217234520
She doesnt have any to show
>>
>>217234450
Left costume was created by a woman, btw
>>
>>217234450
>Movie made for women
>Women didn't see it
Tale as old as time
>>
>>217234450
Didn't watch either movie, Harley looks like shit in both of them and honestly ruined her subsequent designs for years to come.
>>
>>217234450
Reminder that The Male Gaze is derived from Freudian Psycho-analsyis and comes from an essay some lady wrote in 1975 based on movies from the 1950s. Which means apparently it's an amazing idea that we need to impliment in every piece of media there-after.

The pop-feminism version on social media isn't even correct, since it got conflated with objectification theory too. Feminists never correct them though, only if you start to criticize them.
>>
>>217234450
>Dressed like a tranny
and
>Dressed like a tranny who is afraid to show their bulge
>>

Int he 1970s, Jacques Lacan reinvented Freudian psycho-analysis, and made it very palatable to Feminists who had previously hated Freud. They saw it as a weapon to attack the Patriarchy and advance women's rights. You can watch 100 video essays on the concept, but not one will mention it's Freudian basis. They do a lot to launder the weirder aspects and origins of their theories to outsiders and do a lot of white washing.

Pretty much every single feminist concept is lifted straight from some European Marxist intellectual as well btw, mostly Frenchmen.
>>
>>217234450
No male gazed at this uglified trash costume
>>
>>217235343
>some lady
Was she of the tribe?
>>
>>217235387
>Was she of the tribe?

No, she was not. But she was basing it off Satre (jewish Frenchman Marxist) and Lacan (French, can't tell if he's Jewish or not).

Satre signed the petition to lower the age of consent in France btw.

They frame it as lady intellectualls, but they build their entire theories on DUDES. So it boils down to "There's no way Satre, Marx, Foucault, Freud, Nietzsche", etc could possibly be wrong. It's always outsider weirdos. Feminists really started to lean into French thinkers in the 70s.

NO ONE READS THIS SHIT btw. Not even feminist critics.
>>
>>217234450
Again? Movie was shit, that's it. Nothing about male gaze, feminism or chuds, it was just bad like Eternals, Captain Marvel, Flash, etc.
>>
It was an aggressively un fun workshop haha ugly movie made by and for hollywood femints and lesbians thinking they knew whats best

They did not. And it really damaged her career.
>>
>>217235492
Doing a great job explaining this shit anon. Also what is funny is that when women try to show themselves or other women without the male gaze they simply look like shit, the Birds of Prey movie bein the best example.

They are beating their own faces in the hope of winning a fixed match in a game they created.
>>
>>217235536
Her luck was nobody watched this shit and that she already had other projects in line. Still she didn't learned her lesson and tried the same shit again with Barbie, except this time it worked, probably because we had a strong male lead and she looked hot or at least well dressed most of the time.

I bet that if Ewan's character had the same presence as Goose in Barbie and that she and all the other girls were allowed to be hot the movie would been a success, not a billion dollar box office but enough to pay the bills and bring a good profit. The bar for capeshit is not high after all.

I still amazed the Jurassic World movies made the perfect character for this.
>>
>>217234450
>muh male gaze
I.e. "an excuse to shame heterosexual men for being naturally attracted to healthy, good-looking women.
>>
The people want a different kind of sexy for their modern Harley Quinn now. About 30 percent of the male population has a brap fetish now.
>>
>>217235705
Oh, it's NOT "pretty women" btw. It's literally way more schizo than that, and even feminist pop-tubers are frequently getting it wrong and conflating it with other ideas. I think "the male gaze" is just a nice phrase that sounds cool and gets a point across.

It's literally about males looking at women and the patriarchy manifesting itself unconscously in films. It's 100% Freudian, fucking weird, and about voyeurism. All of the Freudian psycho-babble is entirely exercized when feminists talk about the idea now.

> scopophilia
>phallocentrism
>mirror stage

Do these words mean anything to you? Because they're central to the theory. Her Wikipedia page actually does a better job explaining the concept than the actual Male Gaze page does.

>>
>>217234450
It was bad
>>
>>217234450
im a guy and I think birds of prey was way better than suicide squad. And no I don't want an award.
>>
>>217236209
So the "male gaze" is widely misunderstood and over used, EVEN BY FEMINISTS. I believe the other theory is actually "objectification theory" and video essayists will often conflate this.

So focus on the example from Silence of the Lambs.

>Here, it is possible to appreciate the portrayal of the female protagonist, Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster), as an object of stare. In the opening sequence, the elevator scene shows Clarice surrounded by several tall FBI agents, all dressed identically, all towering above her, "all subjecting her to their (male) gaze."[11]

In feminist pop-tubers, "male gaze" is a pretty woman dressed sexily, versus being covered up. Here we see she's covered head to toe in sweats and it doesn't matter. What matters is that it's the male film makers subconsciously or consciously manifesting their patriarchy through the use of portrayal of the woman, and the males. All of this is a secret conspiracy to portray women as passive and weak and to brainwash us of course. Only the smart smart critics can see through the lies and they alone have the gnostic knoweldge to save us all.

Note how insanely open ended this shit is?

Women HATE other women who are more attractive than them. The whole "male gaze" thing is ugly women mad men are giving attention to beautiful women.

I've seen many times that women don't seem to "Get" the appeal of asian women and rank them low.

I don't think asian women are that pretty. It's just they are the only race that is thin, submissive, tries to be cute, and doesn't talk like a truck driver.

I keep getting Harley costume ads for little girls on Twitch.

Even the villain and the screaming girl were absolute shit, I kind of liked Birds of Prey.

I haven't seen Suicide Squad though,
>>
>>217234450
They decided to lionize Joker's bimbo sidekick and act like she was a secret girl boss all along and not just the mentally ill chick that fucked him in between aiding him in all his crime and murder.
>>
>>217237210
Right. We got several Harley movies and almost zero interaction beteen her and Joker. They also turned her into more or less a total good guy in the sequel when she still had an edge in Suicide Squad.

They do this every time a villain gets too popular, even Deadpool was turned into a hero
>>

I'm watching "gas, food and lodgings" because an anon recommended it a few days ago while we were talking about faruza baulk.
now I see it's pretty lame, amateurish and made for teenage girls.
never trust a coomer's recommendations

Harley Quinn was popular among women. Male gaze was never a selling point.
Reminder women are half of the audience of Hollywood blockbusters.

AND men for jorking pourposes.
Harley Quinn is also deeply loved by men because of the SS1 harley quinn costume.
Many cheeks were clapped thanks to that costume.

>>

I was in college the year that came out, every Halloween party was just slutty Harley's begging to get deep dicked. It was like a non stop porno.
>>
>>217239664
Different genders have different audiences. If you release a romance movie but you destroy everything that appeal to the female gaze, then it will fail.
The same will happen if you destroy the male gaze in superhero movies.
>>
>>217234450
Comic book movies don't appeal to women and people don't go to the theater to masturbate.
>>
>>217234450
Suicide squad (2016, not the pedo gunn flop movie) succeeded because of the male gaze.
Birds of prey flopped because of the male gays.
>>
The implication is that the left design is only liked by men or specifically created for men, except the truth is that it is a visually appealing design everyone liked. It was one of the most popular costumes/cosplays for women and everyone remembers it. It brought Harley Quinn forward into the public consciousness and they had an opportunity to expand upon that, but they were instead afraid of what they had done and produced a bunch of ugly diversityslop nobody cared about. Nobody wants to watch a lesbian drama featuring Harley Quinn or some weird cartoon or some poorly written feminist movie, people just like that’s she’s cute and graphically violent

Beautiful work, anon.
Marxism, at its core, if you read Marx, Engels, Gramsci, and even Friere, is a secular religion absent of anything supernatural.
Entirely man-centric. Man makes man. Man makes history. Man, social man, makes himself and the conditions in which he prospers or suffers.
Perfection is the continued abolition of preexisting structures.
The Male Gaze isn't about fixing anything. It's about tearing it all down. The entirety of editing, filming, scoring, is oppressive.
They want an Easter. A different consciousness. SHELVE everything DESTROY everything that came before.
Like ouroboros. Over and over. Until perfection is reached.
What is perfection? It depends. Marx wanted communism. Social man. A return to the Eden that oppressive labor destroyed.
For feminists?
I wouldn't be surprised if it was simply ruling the world.
