Idk about “best movie ever” but it more or less lived up to the hype for me. Genuinely fantastic movie. A lot to chew on. Orson Welles is a delight. What else should I watch starring him?
>>217235199redditoid midwit filmography 101 take anon thanks for wasting a spot in the catalogue
>>217235199Not technically starring him, but try The Trial (1962) and see if you like it.>>217235247You are not appearing smarter by calling perfectly sane opinions "midwit". Nobody likes you, the films you like, and you will die alone, only you are not man enough to do so without whining.
>>217235199Oh you don’t say, Ebert? What a rousing review.
>>217235199I feel like the second half drags. I wish I liked it more.
>>217235199The Third Man
>>217235199Good taste op. Filters /tv/ but it's genuinely good. The Third Man is another quality flick.
>>217235356Yeah I liked it best when Kane was young and doing newspaper stuff
It insists upon itself
>>217235199The commentary with roger ebert made me realise what an amazing film Citizen Kane is.As for Orson Welles stuff - watch everything you can get your hands on.
>>217235838You needed someone to tell you it was good?
>>217235199Touch of Evil, Chimes at Midnight
>>217235199my favorite Welles is probably Lady From Shanghai just because the characters are fascinatingly demented. Black Magic and Prince of Foxes are both entertaining and often overlooked. he is only billed as star in Prince of Foxes, but the direction and cinematography is very much his style.
Mr. Arkadin AKA Confidential Report is a really good one. Robert Arden can actually keep pace with Welles, unlike many actors. He also fit well with Paul Newman in The Long Hot Summer.
>>217235472It is still impressive technically speaking and also entertaining having been made years and years ago, that still says something
