Fukunaga being talented in his own right, recruiting the DP, and recruiting the production designer is a lot of why S1 works on the screen. Nic immediately having the audacity to not just axe Fukunaga and his DP, but to replace them with a revolving door of journeymen (so no single vision for S2) was really the height of fucking arrogance. I don't know if I'd call it arrogance but Nic also just seems the type to not be able to execute on writing when he can't take his sweet time.
