They liked each other well enough that Rowling told him the big secret about his character and she recognized that his performance in the movies made Snape popular moreso than how she wrote him in the books. So her greenlighting this zest-cast for the shameless money milker of a reboot is out of respect to Rickman's memory. It's perfectly plausible that any of the new child actors end up upstaging Radclife, Grint, Watson, etc. but there's no way Professor Nigga can measure up because he's not even a good actor to begin with.
