I had a huge adrenaline rush with this haul at goodwill.
Only 4 good things in that stack.
I've watched 0 of these movies
>>217240058Why dont you only buy movies you like? The only things on my shelf are things I enjoy. Even then I get them for (literally) 25 cents at a used store.
I hope you checked all of them, because 90% of the DVD's I find at thrift stores are scratched as a motherfucker
>>217240058Nice. That Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume 3 DVD has an extra where various characters do a speech you can record to your cellphone as a voicemail greeting. I used Master Shake's and everyone hated leaving me VMs because Shake goes on and on for like a minute or so.
Nice
>>217240058I love that every thrift or used media store is guaranteed to have at least one copy of the first three or four seasons of Aqua Teen. I had a lot of fun hunting those down the other year, and I only had to order one of them online. And then they announced the box set.
>>217240157because most of the population is retarded. Collecting gives them some kind of high, probably some latent instinct from the days of hunting and gathering. Basically, these “people” are like animals, acting without thought. Paying for streaming is gay, buying dvd’s is gay. So glad I wasn’t born to be an NPC.
I only buy anime and older Adult Swim stuff.I'm mainly buying it for the physical box, so I don't waste my time at charity/second hand stores and such, since 99% of the time (IF they even have what I want, which they don't) the box is always damaged. Also I only collect old/big box releases, none of that slimpack re-release bullshit, I want big cardboard boxes with 8 individual DVD cases in them for one season of anime.
>>217240058Road House and Edward Scissorhands are the best things you got
>>217240058Mostly boring boomer-x shit. Only thing i liked inside was tremors and national treasure and no i dont like tarantula's movies.
>>217240243>everyone hated leaving me VMsi believe u.
>>217240058>ATHF>Tremors>Warlock IIIPeak kino>To kill a mockingbird>Train to Busan>Reservoir Dogs>Always Sunny>BloodsportDecent.>Almost everything elseShamefur display>Freaks and geeksI just lost all respect for you, even at $4.
>>217240058Are you going to watch any of them?
>>217240519Poor.
>>217240157Maybe he does enjoy these? It's presumptive to think he doesn't.
>>217240058Based and graboid pilled
>>217240098Aqua teen, bloodsport, warlock, tremors
>>217240058>all of it's trash or shit you've seen a thousand times
>>217241574phft no
Goodwill has movies?
>>217240058Why are their 9 discs for freaks and geeks? It lasted one season
>>2172430522 episodes per disc with a ton of extras
>>217240058>mostly pre-21st century kino and very little modern vomitYou dun good, OP.
dang dvds are getting expensive. used to be more like 20 cents in thrift stores but now it's 2 dollars?
>>217244288dat Trump Bump
>>2172400584 bucks for that freaks and geeks set is a bargaincan't believe people are still buying standard def dvds though
>>217240227goodwill generally does a solid job of quality control. thrift shops don't give a damn and will put a price sticker on a dog turd if it ends up in the drop off box.
>>217241715>or shit you've seen a thousand timesso watch them a thousand and one times? do you not re-watch films? you only watch new shit?
>>217244638They'll put a price sticker on a dog turd but not a VHS tape, all of which they throw in the garbage. Fuckers.
I picked up Kick Ass 2 on blu ray and a sealed Expendables trilogy in dvd for a few dollerydoos at my local charity joint. Dunno when I'll watch them though.
I only buy 4K & Blurays, however I do have certain criteria. For starters will I re-watch this movie? Is it a good transfer? etc
>>217240058Oh no one caught Element of Crime? Very awesome. That movie's badass at any price let alone $2
I have a lot of nostalgia for that 'Bloodsport' Warner Bros. cardboard snap case.
>>217245132Right but Element of Crime for example is only available on dvd
>>217245132I wish there was a website that sorted the crap HD transfers from the good ones. There's so many shitty Blu Rays with fucked up colors and DVNR.
>>217240058Nice.More than $1 is expensive to me these days.
>>217240227You are a liar, fuck off creep.
>>217240058Imagine making a show and all 60 seasons of your show on physical Bluray sell for $4. Holy shit how do you not jump off a fucking cliff
>>217240058train to busa and skull island, nice. Based physical media enjoyertoday OP was not a fag
>>217240098Right, and 4bux for a scratched-up Bluray? I think the thrift store won this round easily.
>>217245349If he lives in an area with a high black population it's very easy to believe.
>>217245359theres another retard willing to spend $7 bucks. the only shit that might be interesting is like Civ 1-4 where they would have 150 pages of instructions in a book.
>>217240227>I hope you checked all of them, because 90% of the DVD's I find at thrift stores are scratched as a motherfuckerI collect phsical media and visit charity shops etc. It's normally mint, bought and watched once. A few years ago just before the pandemic, retail chains were writing off new physical media stock and dumping it into charity stores, it was normal then to find full sealed series ranging from yes prime minister, monthy python, mash, house, fraiser, sopranoes, breaking bad etc etc, Not now, in fact the number of DVDs on sale in charity shops has dried up a lot both in quanity and quality, a lot of media has become valuable again over the last five years but I still look for fun and find the odd thing. Glad I have my library mostly done (it's about 3000 movies, documentaries and series) and just a small shortlist of titles left. Back about 7 years ago you could easily go out and buy like all the arnie movies easily in one day or all the bonds or whatever, now what's there is really not as good anymore and there is far less to look through.Last chance to build a library, it will all have dried up in a couple of years, new retail is also still very high priced for classic movies if they even have the stock.
>>217245505Yeeeeeeep. All physical media is going up in price, and with Walmart getting rid of theirs this year it's going to become crazy very soon. Get those 4Ks now while you still can.
>>217240058Blue ray is a fag medium
>>217245421OP is smart you are dumb. SorrySeen this before with physical media video games you'll get left behind and spend the rest of your life seething about getting left behind, collectors, resellers etc etc and how some shit virus ridden hellscape or crap streaming service missing half your kino is 'just as good' until you wind up on a dumb terminal as tech changes and local storage parts get priced out, watching PPV and blaming others for your stupidity
>>217245559Blu Ray is fine as long as it's done by a studio that gives a shit like Warner Archive or Vinegar Syndrome. The stuff you're likely to find at retail or at thrift shops is mostly all crap, though.
>>217245591In English, doc
>>217245132I used to be like this but i just stopped caring because Blu-Rays and DVDs are so cheap that i'd rather just buy a "bad" transfer and not even know about it. >>217245291there is but it isn't "sorted" by "crap" transfers because it's all personal taste. just because you think the color are off doesn't mean they actually are. obviously you have some examples of shit transfers but lets not pretend every single movie is getting multiple wildly different transfers across VHS/DVD/BR/4K.
>>217245538I'm just annoyed I did not get the 150 or so on my shortlist done, so,me of them are over 30 dollars now, some are becoming rare. I went and tries to collect entire sets by actor director, award lists, top 100s, by decade and then the same with TV. It would be way more difficult now back then it was being sold new for cents and there were piles of it
I mostly buy VHS. For HD stuff I'm content with piracy.
>>217245291Here's an easy one, if it's Disney and it's a movie older than 2005, the Blu Ray probably sucks.
>>217245631true, most blu rays are just upsclaed although you get the odd one like scarface that really is better. Some movies like zulu actually look better on DVD to me, the HD transfer just looks wrong
>>217245680the site is caps-a-holic, by the way. it's really fun to browse the site, compare all the releases of a bunch of different movies, throw them into an edit and watch /tv/ fight about what is the right or wrong "version" of the movie. you obviously have some stuff like the criterion versions of Thief or Memories of Murder that kind of look obviously bad, but go and compare all of the releases of Suspiria together, almost every release of that movie has a different color tone. who is to truly say what's the "right" copy? Eyes Wide Shut got a recent 4K release and it's example of people just going "X version is better because i like it more". just reading non stop arguments about this stuff just made me realize i don't even really care about the "accuracy" of some shit, I just want it readily available. Element Of Crime for $2 is a steal on OPs part and despite it being a DVD copy it probably looks better than any of the rips floating around online.
>>217240058Why does Freaks and Geeks need when it is only like eighteen episodes?
>>217245851its just Criterion trying to get you to buy the "correct" version. Watch whatever "edit" of Thief or Suspiria you can find, you aren't a bad person because you watched the 1993 variation
>>217246153I think its all about licensing. The licensing is cheaper or just even available at all in the slightly changed version.
>>217245680you're a fucking moron
>>217244651There's a myriad of shit I've not scene. What zoomer faggot mentality is this? I still find new kino. I've not seen a nu shitty faggot movie in 10 years or more. The shit there is pathetic to watch once. This board has made me into a real film snob lmao.
>>217240058Movies are about the only things at my local Goodwills that are resonably priced. A Dollar Tree brand knockoff jenga (MSRP $1.25) with missing pieces will be priced at $4.99 but for $20, on half-priced colored tag day you can walk out with a stack of 30 movies. It's like a Blockbuster, but cheaper and with no late fees or tax since Goodwill is "not for profit".
Well, 2 dollars each is not that bad, would have been better 1 for a dollar tho
>>217240058>buying dvds in 2026
>>217245851They both look the same to me
>>217248805Crap hoarder general
>>217241771Goodwill has anything people donate. Need a broken keyboard? They have it. I've noticed hey refuse old TVs and crush couches in their compactor if they don't sell fast, though.
>>217245631>just because you think the color are off doesn't mean they actually areIf the color grading is totally revamped to "modern standards" without any regard to original and DNR smudging everything to look like wax dolls is applied, the transfer is objectively shit.
>>217244682My local ones did for a while but they started selling them again. Picked up Strange Brew and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark VHS for their artwork. Cashier goes, you know you can watch that on youtube, right? I told her I just want to look at Elvira's tits on my kinoshelf. Ok? Is that ok with you? Dumb bitch.
>>217248805What. Still works.>but muh resolutionDvds address perfectly fine. You zoomers mostly look at your phones anyway, I'm happy with dvd quality.
>>217248888Yep. I don't care how HD it is, if the colors are fucked or if DNR is applied heavily, I'd rather watch it on VHS than on 4K.
>>217240058I got 200 blurays for around 73 cents a piece last summer at a yard sale, thats including complete seasons of shows like banshee and vikings. best score ill probably ever have
>>217240373You still need the individual release for the set with Shake Like Me (banned from the complete set) AND the complete box set though, as the last four seasons never got a DVD release.See also Metalocalypse, where you need to buy the complete series for the Opera special which never got a home video release
>>217240058>OH MY HECK MORE WORTHLESS TIMEWASTING JEWISH MAKE BELIEVE SLOP TO CONSOOM THIS IS SO HECKIN WHOLESOME IM SO HAPPY LE PHYSICAL MEDIA IS SO WHOLESOMEApologize for being born and end your life.
>>217249212meds
>>217240157Not him but I sometimes biy things I'm meh about and havent seen because $.25. I will later donate them. When buying new its only stuff I love and mostly 4k.
>>217240227That's why you buy a $2000 disk resurfacing machine retard
>>217240373Never seen them here in Canada but I found all but one season of the orignsl showtime trailer park boys dvds.
>>217241209You made a mistake, bloodsport is absolute kino.
>>217245851The eyes wide shut controversy is mostly people complaining it doesnt look as washed out as their old vhs or dvds.Watching it looked amazing to me and doesnt seem revisionist in any way, its not like it feels like another movie or another color palet but i didnt watch it in theatres myself. I'd take the opinion of the people who worked on it over schizos in forums who want it to look exactly like their blu ray but higher resolution.
