I liked how Scully was the believer and Doggett the skeptic and there were great MOTW like Via Negativa. However this course correction was too late and the mythology couldn't be saved. It is very noticeable how the mythology just reuses ideas established seasons 1-5, with the boy who could read minds returning and the supersoldiers being a copy of the bounty hunters etc. When Mulder came back the mythology went to a new low and the whole super soldiers and the Virgin Mary/Scully comparision plus the Jesus birth parallel was baffling and awful.
