it's literally just 2 hours of misery. unkillable titan emerges. kills everything. people die. he fucks off. the end.
>>
>>217243614
its scary n cool
and the humans band together in this one and defeat it with teamwork and good spirit
no matter what demons the world throws at us, good will prevail
>>
The only good part of the movie was the wholesome characters which is mindblowing for modern western media. the main character telling the girl it's okay to whore herself out at a time like this and she returns a blank stare
>>
The Japanese like to pretend that WW2 was something that just kind of happened to them.
>>
>>217243681
The characters are all one dimensional.
>>

Film used to be a spectacle because rare technical skill was required to make awe inspiring video. Ever since the internet, the spectacle has been degraded by random people's videos. Now with AI, the spectacle is completely dead. It's what CGI did to practical effects. In the 60s several war films were produced where thousands of men actually acted as extras, including scenes where dozens of stuntmen fall of speeding horses. In the 00s and 10s, epic battle scenes like in LOTR or GoT were CGI. In a few years it'll all be AI that doesn't even need mocap, 3D modelling, or any other technical skill. Everything will be generated by a cloud botnet that will only charge $1M instead of $10M.
>>
>>217243699
There's no spectacle in Minus One, everything are miniatures with no weight.
>>
>>217243695
How did the sides switch around from the first world war anyway?
>>
>>217243614
I see Godzilla as a reminder to the nips that they'll be repeatedly destroyed over and over for their crimes in ww2.
>>
>>217243738
Because miniatures + CGI is not spectacular now. You can CGI anything, no one cares anymore. Spectacle is dead in professional film because they no longer control exclusive technology.
>>
>>217243614

Giant monsters smashing shit if fun. Everything doesn't have to be Shakespeare.
>>
>>217243614
You have to be born to ppl who survived the atomic bombs to get it
>>
>Unkillable titan emerges. kills everything. people die. he fucks off. the end.
Looks like you pretty much got it.
>>

>>

Everyone alive was born to people who survived the atomic bombs.
Some survived by being far away, others survived by being VERY far away.
>>
>>217243614
Sometimes it's two hours of Godzilla being the savior of the world, protecting mankind from other, truly evil creatures. So basically a supersized superhero movie.
>>
>>217243614
>gonna eat that boat
he cute
>>
>Godzilla will return
was he the good guy all along?
>>
>>217243777
Italians were fence sitters in both wars, a lot of them felt they didn't benefit sufficiently from being on the winning side in the first one and a manlet with some interesting new politcal ideas capitalized on that.
Although Japan had been allied with the UK since the early 1900s there was a growing wariness of the Japanese among the western colonial powers as their empire grew following their wars witg China, Russia and Germany. In particular, the US was concerned about the Philippines, and in the interest of forging closer ties with the US post-WW1 the British declined to renew their treaty with the Japanese.
This, combined with the Japanese also feeling slighted by the western allies at Versailles and their educational system being something of a feedback loop creating ever more hypernationalistic younger generations led them to break with the west.
>>
>>217243614
this and the 1989 godzilla are the only scary ones
>>
>>217243696
>The characters are all Japanese
very insightful
>>
>>217243696
Not a single black lesbian in the cast to challenge their motives
>>
>>217243695
I don’t think the average jap had much say in the matter, living under imperial rule.
>>
I liked the previous one. It had a solid ''we're bureaucrats but we can do this'' storyline and they made it work

this one was melodramatic shit in comparison, reminded me of those korean/jap high school dramas at the worst parts

It's about the never ending hubris of men trying to control nature and getting buttfucked by it eventually.
>>
>>217245855
I also really liked seeing the government try to work out wtf was happening and how to stop it. Probably my favorite human side story of any Godzilla movie
>>
>>217243614
>two dudes
>in goofy rubber suits
>punching and kicking each other
>and absolutely trashing a miniature cardboard city
Its like pro wrestling except it doesnt suck and things explode
>>

So... The same as everyone else?
>>
>>217243695
Somebody needs to watch The Greatest Story Never Told.
>>
>>217245944

Godzilla is best when he is a force of nature, not humanized, not emoting and having a personality and not being able to be understood.

It's when they gave him a personality and explanations and a kid shit became retarded
>>
>>217243696
lol troons still mad at how wholesome -1 was. At least they're wholesome dimensions instead of:
>character who sucks dick
>character who cut off dick
>character who anheroes because they cut off their dick
>>
>>217243614
Trannies still seething over how good this was I see
>>
>>217243614
token self-victimization from japs.
>>
>>217243777
The military filled with ultranationalists repeatedly undermined the civilian government and kept getting away with mere slaps on the wrist until they were controlling everything and launching wars entirely on their own behalf that nobody back home asked them to conduct. So naturally they decided to hook up with the other nationalists out to expand.

America were paranoid retards in the 1920s so they broke up the Anglo-Japanese alliance so they wouldn't have an outnumbered navy.

I was thinking that in a Jewywood movie the love interest girl would have been sassing off to the hero and showing him up constantly.

I feel like im in the minority but my favorite part of Godzilla movies or monster movies in general is the planning humans have to do to overcome such strong adversity. Thats why I really like Shin Godzilla.

Yes, that is usually the plot and a good portion of the appeal. They are fun movies. They don't have to appeal to everyone, so if you don't like it then thats fine.

Add on to this, the Japanese learned entirely the wrong lessons from their victory against Russia. And then they prosecuted the wars in the dumbest fashion possible, while also allying with the Germans and Italians for little reason while then refusing to do anything that could have helped them.

They threw their chances away.
