movies where the first half is good and the second is shit
>>217267837Kick Ass. First act started out as a realistic look into what it would be like to become a street-level superhero. Each subsequent act got progressively sillier.
>>217267837The theme is kinohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLBXAs2LO8k
>>217267837>should we stay in this natural paradise with plenty of food and clean water?>no, let's go live in this decaying irradiated city where the best we can hope for is some shitty canned goods to eat!Unironically what the fuck were they thinking?
Tom Cruise War of the Worlds
>>217267837The World Ends/thread
Predators
>>217268158The one with the big nose guy? That was decent all around
Death Proof.
>>217268218You have it backwards
From Dusk Till Dawn
>>217267837when it jumps to when they are adults the movie went to shit
split
>>217267878True. The whole figuring out how to be a superhero in real life things was kino, but it got so retarded in the end when he was using a jetpack minigun. They should make a show that is just about the struggles of a street level larper that doesn't jump the shark like that
The "politics" didn't filter me but fun kino turned into teen TV drama.
>>217267837Full metal jacket.
>>217267837What the FUCK happened here?
>>217267837
>>217268174No it went to shit when they met fat Morpheus
>>217269115they combined two different scripts
>>217267837Mac and Me
>>217269167But why.
First hour is the best thing PTA has done, the 2nd hour is a wet fart
>>217269199>The original screenplay was much darker. Apart from being a low-life, Hancock was supposed to be sexually frustrated because he couldn't have sex with a woman without killing her. The MPAA actually cleared a scene involving Hancock's explosive orgasm, but it was removed from the final cut because a test audience didn't find it funny. The tone was lightened considerably for a summer release aimed at a wide audience, but the MPAA gave the film an R twice before language and violence cuts resulted in a PG-13.
>>217267837Shin Godzilla. The first half is great, with an overly bureaucratic and inefficient government being caught with its pants around its ankles as an unprecedented event spirals further-and-further out of control, but after the laser scene, it’s just them doing the thing that they said they were going to do in the first half, but didn’t have the time to do, and then had one of the most anti-climactic final battles this side of Stranger Things, where nearly everything goes off without a hitch. It makes subsequent rewatches kind of a slog, and I usually just watch the first half and then skip to the end.
>>217268174>>217268158>>217269138It started shit and got worse. Esily the worst predato film by a large margin. It made avp2 look like a masterpiece by comparison
>>217269399Plus Jurassic Park 2
>>217269354your exaggerating with that last part
Full Metal Jacket
Looper
>>217269184Wait... is it the first half or the second half of the movie where the kid in the wheelchair falls off a cliff?
>>217269418No. It really is that bad
>>217269184Asked my mom to go rent Land Before Time because I'm at home sick. She comes back with this shit. I told my mom I liked it but it's awful
>>217267837I don't think Thunderdome's second half is as bad as people say. I like the kids and their weird language and religion they've developed. No, it's not as exciting as fighting in the Thunderdome, but it's still good. The first time I saw it I wasn't sitting there thinking it wasn't as good as the first part like some movies mentioned, especially like Full Metal Jacket, which I think everyone notices.
>>217271025Literally anyone who says Full Metal Jacket's second half isn't "as good" is a retard. I will die on that hill. It's a nice tell
>>217271061I still enjoy the whole movie. I love military movies in general and FMJ is a good one. I do think there is a noticeable tone change between the bootcamp scenes and the war scenes that is jarring. It works as a whole because you get to follow Joker the entire time. But I definitely like the first part better.
>>217271474A jarring tone change isn't a downgrade in quality. I don't know, maybe people just don't fucking grasp tone and theme anymore. Or the point of a war movie.
>>217268730It's called Super.
>>217270757yes
>>217267837Sunshine. First half is the best sci-fi film of the decade but then it shits its pants entirely.
>>217267883Event Horizon
bump
>>217267837It was pretty silly how Master is suddenly treated like a good guy and harmless little midget by the end. Even worth of being saved. The guy ruled with an iron fist and killed plenty of people. He would have killed Max just for not obeying immediately. Now that Master is off with these retarded kids, it's only a matter of time before he's ruling them too.
>>217269211I didn't even understand what this movie was about. Wtf was that ending?
>>217269354>It made avp2 look like a masterpiece by comparisonPicrel is my favorite scene from avp2
>>217267837I feel like this is pretty common with mysteries. Its easy to create intrigue but not so easy to make a satisfying conclusion that ties everything together.
>>217274254This was bad almost fom the beginning
>>217274167I watched this with my friends in the kinoplex (we were 15), we were late so we had to stumble to our seats it was so fucking dark in there. The movie was shit.
>>217271474There is some bad acting in FMJ, and that problem becomes more apparent when R. Lee Ermey is no longer there to distract from it. There's also some shitty dialogue in the second half, the banter between the soldiers doesn't sound authentic. And once the film is over, you're left wondering about its purpose. Why did the famously meticulous and thoughtful Stanley Kubrick want to make this particular film after a hiatus of 7 years? What is it trying to say? That war is bad? Okay, but isn't that the message of every war film, including Platoon which came out a year before FMJ, and also including Kubrick's own Paths of Glory. Yeah, war is bad, very original.
