>Let's make the most boring Warcraft movie we can!
>>217276508I wanna kiss that orc
>Orc scenesAbsolute kino>Human scenesBunch of amateur LARPers playing fantasy
>it has to be live action because... it just DOES okay?
>>217276508That was their first and main mistake in doing this movie."Orcs vs. Humans" is as basic as basic can get, and it's boring AF. It's kind of the same reason 'John Carter' failed, because it's a 100+ year old story that every sci-fi fantasy story told after copied from it. And everyone knows how it plays out. In this case, it's basic concept from every other high-fantasy story since 'Lord of the Rings', to even "(Old Fantasy) Warhammer" (which was the basis of the Warcraft, as Blizzard was ripping off Games-Workshop since the beginning anyways). Where the mistake happened was they planned to tell the entire lore chronologically in these movies. And instead of using Arthas's tale, the high point of Warcraft's popularity, they thought to start at the beginning and work their way up to that point instead....and failed.
imagine your agent be like yea you look like an orc
>>217276920The biggest problem from my point of view was that they chose to go with a story that had already been retconned so many times that it didn't have any relevance to the fanbase anymore. It wasn't as bad as a movie as I had worried it would be, but it didn't really have anything to do with the Warcraft story by the time it was made.
>>217276830Pretty much this. I went into it knowing barely anything about Warhammer and was fully engrossed in the orc storyline but found the human storyline to be generic almost to the point of parody.
>>217276987>they chose to go with a story that had already been retconned so many times that it didn't have any relevance to the fanbase anymore.Exactly. 99.9% of WoW players had never played Warcraft 1 and they chose to make the movie based on a chimera of the classic lore and the new.
>>217276508As far as slop fantasy goes I like this movie.
>>217276508yeah go back and watch it, it's not nearly as bad compared to the decade plus of absolute soulless marvelslop. the CGI is actually halfway decent too
>>217276508it already exists
>>217276920I have no idea how tf they thought they could fit ALL of Warcraft 3 in one movie. That shit would’ve been impossible.Should’ve just had the first movie be the first part of WC3 RoC and WC1&2 should’ve been flashbacks.
>>217276933Ewww.She's hotter as an orc.
>>217276508Arthas was right there. Those fucking higher up retards were so fucking out of touch with reality.
>>217276920Exactly. I don't think anyone expected anything other than an Arthas movie. It could've made millions.
>>217276508Baby orc was cute.
>>217278510They should have mostly copied the few human/orc campaign missions for the first movie.Add flashback scenes of young arthas during the 2nd war explaining what orcs are, where the come from etc... Throw in some shit with thrall escaping from captivity and freeing other orcs and being a goody good guy orc. Have scenes explaining what fel is and what warlocks are. Bring up Gul'dan and Ner'zhul.End with medeve waking up from his dream of demons or some shit. Show Tyrande waking from the same dream.Post credit scene of a meteor hitting the some glacier in a frozen wasteland.
>>217278474>I have no idea how tf they thought they could fit ALL of Warcraft 3 in one movieThey really wouldn't need to, just tell Arthas' side of the WC3, and leave the rest for another movie. Just as Illidan, Malfurion, and Tyrande's tale could be a movie unto itself too
>>217276508Blame Chris Metzen and his gigaboner for orcs, he wanted them to be the main heroes of the entire movie trilogy (that obviously didn't happen because first movie flopped hard).
>>217276933>He wishes to lie with me.
>>217278969>just tell Arthas' side of the WC3FROSTMOURNE HUNGERS...
i liked this movie. I know nothing about warcraft, never played it. I liked the thoughtful depiction of the orcs, I liked how there were no totally evil characters. even the evil orc leader was shown to care for his people and have been corrupted by the fel. and even the fel wasn't totally evil.... because from light comes darkness, and from darkness, light. there were a lot of little character beats that i liked, it reminded me of a mad max movie in this respect.
I'm fully convinced that the human side could've been better with a different cast. It's not that the actors are bad actors, they are just wrong for the roles. Ben Foster is a solid actor in pretty much everything I've seen him in, but he's awful as Medivh. Then, the movie is too choppy, it's obvious it was butchered in the editing room. The Garona/Anduin romance is forced, there's no chemistry between the actors, but it also feels unearned. Garona should've just agreed to side with the humans because they were offering her freedom and showing her compassion. That makes her "betrayal" more tragic than Lothar going: "Oh, but I thought we had a thing going on."
Still can't believe Ben Foster was in this trashthe main guy I understand because vikings was slop
>>217276508if orcs bore you then no warcraft movie was ever going to make you happy
>>217276987THE biggest problem was that 95% of people interested in the movie got into Warcraft via World of Warcraft and had zero idea about any lore before it, so they were bored and confused about what was going on in the movie, and didn't recognize ANY characters.
>>217276920>>217278548>muh arthasmakes me glad your film universe flopped
>>217277114problem is that the human storyline at that point is basically non-existent while the orc storyline is fucking awesome>orcs>demon-possessed aliens from another world>multiple factions ranging from the heroic and honorable frostwolves to the pure evil gul'dan or blackhand>humans>settled, peaceful kingdom whose biggest issue is gnolls>homogenous culture of Good Guys©the human storyline gets good when they regroup in the north, create paladins by training priests in weapons and warfare, then beat the orcs and brutally subjugate them in concentration camps (which incidentally would have been what the sequel was about, if the first did well)
>>217279842The movie's interpretation of orcs was poor. Look at OP's pic, he looks like a sad loser. Orcs are supposed to be angry and boisterous and belligerent, even before the fel corruption. Including Durotan. And the humans were just an absolute disaster. It never should have been live action, warcraft characters are supposed to be impossibly huge and muscled.
