Probably, I'm a fucking retard and the danger would appeal to me. My friend's dad works with big cats so I'm a little desensitized to the issue of working with predators. I'm bringing my own guns though.
>>
>>217283351
They softened up movie Hammond but he was still ick. The key is realizing the park experts were always the dudes in the control room; Nedry, Muldoon and Arnold. All of them were constantly expressing concern, caution, hell Muldoon doesn't even tip-toe about thinking the raptors should all be destroyed--its the first thing he says to the "experts" Hammond brings in (the ones he's certain will shower him in praise after the disaster.)

Watch JP enough times and you start to see the subtle backstory. Nedry did nothing wrong. Brining in outsiders fucked everything up; Grant exits the ride vehicle to approach a sick dino without any regard for the dangers. This delays their tour and forces the vehicles to turn around and go back into Trex zone rather than going through the triceratops section before arriving back at the visitor center.

Grant is not an expert as Hammond claimed, he was a tourist. Thats the stumbling block. The investors should've spoken to the REAL experts (Nedry, Muldoon and Arnold) to figure out how to handle the mess they had.

Hammond wouldn't have ever allowed that.

Why was going backwards to the t-rex faster than just completing the loop? Mountainous terrain?
>>
>>217283258
There were many apparent cut corners despite the "spared no expense" shit. Not to mention the safety violations.
But fuck I wish I could live there. The calm rains and dino calls. The tropical climate, and the fucking sweet architecture. God damn I always loved how the park looked and would've killed to go there.

The answer I've heard is the map isn't to scale and the route forward would've taken longer. Maybe it was uphill or maybe the scaling was waaaay off the the road is miles longer than the map makes it appear.

We're never given an in-universe answer to be honest. Obviously they needed the vehicles to break down in the Red paddock. Maybe Hammond didn't want to show them the rest of the tour at "full" speed back to the center (we'd seen they'd stop the vehicles at other spots during the normal tour so they may have had stops along the rest of the route and Hammond didn't want them to skip those.

Personally, I figured that maybe going forward would've taken them right into the storm that was coming ashore so they turned around instead but still got caught uo in it. To be fair, had Nedry not sabotaged the system the vehicles would've likely made it back to the center even with the storm.

>>
>>217284386
it's obviously implied every man wants to work with cute girls. You don't need to announce that. Doing so just says you are looking for victims.
>>
>>217284442
Wanting to keep the remainder of the tour fresh for a re-try would make sense and also add to the irresponsible nature of the disaster.
>>
>>217284486
You know a bit too much about this to just start accusing someone. Perhaps you're a projecting rapist.
>>
>>217284496
Yes. Hammond is ultimately the real villain of JP, much like in the book. They should've kept the same ending for his character in the movie but Spielberg is a hack (JP is a great movie in spite of Spielberg and because the production had tons of talented experts behind the scenes--the lighting team and set builders for example.)

Spiel snorts up all the credit like his kind tend to do.
>>
>>217283258
Given How much of a Cheapskape Hammond is, it's safe to assume the salaries are too low to be worth it. I don't even think he's the type of guy who would give out insurance, let alone hazard pay
>>
>>217284770
>hammond is cheap because one guy who spends his paychecks on food says so
>>
>>217285040
Nedry didn't really call him cheap, did he? It's a bid. They both agreed to a price. Hammond just treated him badly.
>>
>>217284770
This is the main motivator for Nedry to turn-heel. The book explains it better but they hinted at it in the film. Hammond misrepresented the scope of the project, Nedry underbidded it and then was understandably pissed when the scope expanded.

In the book Hammond threatened to blacklist him in the programming industry if he bailed. I suspect Nedry's contract didn't allow for his fee to increase as Hammond increased the workload.

After the accident, which was gross incompetence because of Hammonds cheapness (seriously no locks on the mechanisms that keep the man-slashing raptors cage latched to the paddock door???) Nedry realized the park was doomed to fail and did what most of us would've done...scammed the company for his own gain.

Sure, when WE do that its stealing company time or office supplies. Nedry just aspired to stealing the most valuable asset JP had.

Fucking Grant had to fuck if all up with his retarded, childlike inhibition. Didn't help that the Jew Ian Malcolm was in the car with him (ever notice none of the other characters really liked being around Ian Malcolm? They always tolerate him but kind of hate him. Jew coded, hence why Spiel tried to make him look "cool.")

bro literally had two guys working the electric security system when anyone whose worked a prison, Zoo, or Nature reserve would've had an entire department's worth on people on that shit, completely with shift rotations and and all that. Cameras and trackers alone should've had 4-6 people all hours.

It's a decent read. Book Hammond is a legit bad person. I noticed after reading it (as an adult having watched JP many, many times) I did start viewing movie Hammond more critically. He's still the bad guy in the film if you look closely.

Like I said, in the film Grant is the wildcard/antagonist while Nedry is the goodish guy. In another sense the story is about 2 mathematicians; Nedry is a programmer who operates in knowns and tight constraint's/predictability while Malcolm is a chaostician who deals with unknowables and unpredictability. We are witnessing 2 math nerds fall victim to Hammonds naivety and Grants curiosity (itself a form of naivety--who jumps out of a ride vehicle after having went through a Rex paddock?) Even the little boy dino nerd stayed in his seat, even after being attacked by a Rex and having it pushed into a tree.

I also recommend the book, like the other anon said it's pretty good and Hammond is evil. Muldoon is an even bigger badass and gets to blow up some raptors with a grenade launcher.
>>
>>217286356
the first book is fantastic, and the second is really great too (shame about the movie)
>>
>>217286369
Which is surprising because wasn't the second book only written so they could make another movie?
>>
>>217286142
This, creating fuckable dino girls is the obvious next step
>>
>>217286369
The sequel had a very promising setup but the characters were basically clones of the first book's cast and at times it felt like Crichton was more interested in scholarly theory-dumping than telling a story. Malcolm was a better supporting character than lead protagonist. Still worth a read though
>>
>>217286432
any vegetarian lizard dna to work with out there?
>>
>>217286584
Reminder that Malcolm being the protag wasn't Crichton's fault, it was Spielberg's.
