>>217292185Many nerds feel jealous of these movies. They come out, make gorillions of dollars, people enjoy them and then move on until the next one. There's no toxic obsessed fandom, no poop throwing, just people who have a good time, enjoying the films that resonate with them. It's not a coincidence that avatar threads are always some of the best on /tv/
When i watched movie in theater it never occured to me that the story is recycled.Surely there are repeated hostage beats, but story being majorly very character driven and with a lots of pay offs back to back, it didn't feel like i am watching the same movie at fucking all.
>>217292110One thing about toruk that confused me was when Jake said something along the lines of "becoming the beast", and then it was never brought up again. I wonder if that will be addressed in the next film?
>>217292018their mounts look comically evil
>>217292233this kind of this had to be introduce at the start of TWoW to explain why didn't jake use Toruk in those 16 years
>>217292231The final act in particular felt very samey. It was basically a marriage between the first and second movies final battles. All the way down to the same music and shot for shot scenes. Still like it though.
>>217292281I honestly hope the next one scales it down with the battles.
>>217291878I just see it as another way Na'vi way of life is superior to humans. It's kind of like their world rewards them for their spirituality and respect of nature by giving them the ultimate gift, basically the closest thing to immortality. While humans are desperate to destroy the natural world seeking to prolong their life, the Na'vi already have it through their faith and love for their world.
>>217292374At this point I don't even give a shit about battles, I'm unironically hooked on character development and their relationships
>>217292466Then the movies are working exactly as planned.
>>217292259i really don't like how the horn is an actual horn. i feel like it would be way better if it was just a regular ikran that she armed with a horn-like blade. would fit her tribe's whole "fuck nature, we do things our way" theme way better
>>217292024I also noticed his absence, now I have to lust for Jake alone...
>>217292233I would have liked one more scene or line going into this. Thinking about it, it feels like it refers to how linking shares feelings and thoughts between Na'vi and what they are linking to, and it implies that Toruk is basically a fucking bloodthirsty psychopath.
>>217292231It was all good until the last fight which was literally the same thing as the last fight in TWOWLeft a sour taste even if it was the last 15% of the movie if i'm completely honest.
>>217292630I'm gonna be completely honest and admit that I basedfaced when Toruk got back up to BTFO that dragonship
>>217292110>Toruk was supposed to only appear in the 4th movieInteresting.
I bet Neytiri felt good inside when everyone bowed to toruk macto Jake
>>217293599Extremely kino scene when she's the only one who keeps standing, in awe and pride of her husband returning as Toruk Makto.
>>217292863Me too. I was really worried he got killed off there.
>>217290848one thing I never understood about avatars is that if you can put your mind into a bioengineered avatar, cant you do that for other bioengineered animals? like putting your mind into an avatar bear or something?
>>217293672Yes, but you'd need to be pretty rich to have them clone you the bear body and buy the equipment purpose built to cobnect your body to it. They spent a lot of effort finding Jake because they didn't want to waste Tom's expensive avatar. They cost a lot
I'm too scared of a ban again to even post a link, but you guys could go on r/AiPornhubvideo and search for a post titled "On Set". It's a good one of Varang.
>>217293729but smaller avatars should be cheaper right? like maybe I could put my mind into a baby avatar
>>217293635>Jake whenever someone mentions Toruk Makto
>>217293826Can an adults memories, personality etc fit in a human baby or toddlers mind?
>>217293672>>217293729I'm just surprised the RDA just didn't bioengineer humans to breathe the atmosphere, seems like it would be cheaper to do that than make an avatar.
>>217293904dont know unless you tryyou could also just engineer the baby to have a big brain

>>217293635I laughed at Norm kneeling with everyone, of course he'd do it even when he knows he doesn't have to. He's such a nerd
Cute couple.
>>217293672It's not clear how the remote consciousness works. The avatars are spliced with the pilots DNA, and presumably you need compatible brains between the pilot and his avatar. Perhaps it's not feasible to create an animal with human DNA, or maybe the brain would not be suitable for the link to work. Unless the RDA decides to send a bunch of Harambavatars to beat the shit out of Na'Vi, we won't get an answer.
>>217293839
>>217293967Probably. Avatar isn't just the movies now, it's in the early stages of becoming a full blown multimedia franchise. $1.5-$2b is plenty when the world is widely viewed positively and is also bringing in money with Pandora World, videogames, toys, books, Disney+ subscriptions, etc.
>>217293906Yes but more risky, imagine fucking up someones lungs and him dying? Also, avatars make it easier to interact with the size of pandora's nature, they can eat the food and the na'vi + they can die as avatars (could the avatars be revived? I don't remember well the first movie) and their body is safe, sending humans to pandora is expensive too
>>217293839>>217293998>here is your terrifying and evil villain bro
>>217294248>imagine fucking up someones lungs and him dying?I highly doubt the RDA would care about a few people dying.
The RDA is too pathetic in these movies, I kind of feel bad for them getting slaughtered like mooks at the end of each one. They're supposed to be like the Umbrella Corporation or Weyland-Yutani and instead they're kind of hapless and confused the whole time while things just happen to them. A truly evil sci-fi mega corp would have immediately vivisected Spider
>>217294819Many corporations are extremely incompetent. That's because they hire and promote leadership based on nepotism, corruption and office politics. Same goes for many militaries.
>>217294819Quaritch would have killed a ton of scientists and possibly defected to the Navi if the RDA did anything seriously bad to Spider. They have killed many Tulkun, terrorized quite a few villages with the avatars, built a huge city on Pandora and are now allied with the pic related flavor of Navi so they're not a complete joke. If Spider helped them figure out how humans can breathe without masks the human population in Avatar 4 will skyrocket and they will be more effective.
>>217294819Because it's a dystopian yet still grounded future. The RDA doing whatever it wants stretches believability
Neytiri having to hit on human men to gain access to Jake's cell while in ash na'vi disguise
>>217295359Neytiri would neverShe's too pure for the wanton promiscuity of pinkskins
>>217295359Delet this, pinkskin
>>217293998>>217293839she looks like she smokes catnip and fucks human men
>>217294819The RDA is not evil and has never been. They wanted their colonization to be peaceful. They just view the Na'vi as ignorant savages that don't know what's best for themselves. They can kick and scream, but they will eventually be integrated and lifted up into civilization. Tulkuns are just wild beasts to be harvested. Everything is beneath them and just waiting for Humanity to claim it as is their right. The transition can be peaceful and they just submit to Human's will or they can struggle, but eventually lose. The Humans are winning, and will win totally in the end. The movies need heavy plot armor to have them lose for short times every so often just to make the cinema experience work.
>>217292231>it didn't feel like i am watching the same movie at fucking allSame here, the middle section in Bridgehead in particular was unexpected and excellent.>>217292630I felt that the final showdown, despite not so original, was necessary, you don't end a cycle without some callbacks, only in heightened scale. And it's not like it was just copy pasted. We see the Toruk get BTFO and summoning his legions. The squids were cool as fuck that gave it a previously unseen deep, squishy terror, like the worms in 2005's King Kong. There is a lot of stuff going down at the same time, it's not just one continuous action setpiece, there's reconciliation, renewed conflict, we see Eywa in the thick of it even. Boiling it down to 1+2's culminations is not entirely fair. But there were a lot of been there's with Tuk's kidnapping (although it's very brief) and the fight between Jake and Quareetch.
>>217295633The RDA is retarded and inefficient. Think of how much money and manpower they've wasted trying to assert their goals aggressively when they could have just plopped down on Pandora without question and just sent any Na'vi who were asking too many questions back home with some guns and cheeseburgers and cigars.
>>217295772The Na’vi are just as wild as the Tulkun. They must be harvested as well.
>>217293906Humans aren't really suited for the envorinment, everything's scaled up and deadly as fuck. But the original point of the Avatar's was diplomacy, to ease the interspecies gap.

>>217296366I think Quaritch will try to secede from Earth and start his own Mangkwan/Human empire. He's never going to go full native sleeping in a giant leaf but he's also got nothing but disgust and revulsion for the weak, greedy bean counters running the RDA
>>217296518Varang is tricky. She tapped into the Toruk Makto emotions that Neytiri feels strongly which are purely submissive. Through those she hit Neytiri's weak spot and brought her to her knees at least temporarily
>>217296366>>217296723Was saying this in the previous gennies, we NEED a barbarian Quaritch who takes over Bridgehead and runs a Mad Max style society with an iron fist with his queen Varang, until the Humans come back and fuck everything up for everyone.
>>217296794According to the concept art this is how Varang meditates that's why she has mind rape powers.
>>217296865yeah she needed to get laid. Good for her.
>>217296518I don't think it paints Neytiri as weak, more like it shows that Quaritch has a rare kind of willpower and pain tolerance, and he also managed to break the connection quick enough. Hence Varang looking like she was about to wet her loincloth right there

>>217296890It also seems like he was able to rationalize it, in a way natives don't often do because they don't see the natural processes around them through an objective, almost scientific lens, they're more religious about it. He figured he was being subjected to torture, and that the link is what's causing it, and breaking it would make it stop, no further considerations needed.

Biblical Imaginery-"Eywa" = "Yahweh", a simple reversal of the abrahmic sky daddy god.-The character name "Grace Augustine" is fully loaded with christianity. "Grace" is a specific theological state where you get right with god. Augustine was a theologian and saint.-In the third movie, one of the Ash people pokes Quaritch in his obliques with a spear, drawing a bit of blood. This is like the Lance of Longinus for Evangelion fans, or: the holy spear.-Varang's tight little horizontal binder is sometimes worn with a vertical stripe of paint or paints, clearly forming a cross.-The third film specifically makes general appeals to faith and belief, especially the opening argument between Jake and Ney (and Jake really ought to know better, since he lived the proof of his god at the climax of the first film).-In the first film, when the much larger Neytiri cradles Jake's weak human body, this pose is taken directly from the Pieta (mary cradles the dead jesus). The Michelangelo sculpture is the best known example, but it's a genre thing with other instances.-"Tulkun". The sound of this word is suspiciously close to the jewish theological concept of "tikkun". In rough strokes, the jewish/kabbalastic notion of tikkun is: the world is broken and wrong, and various troublesome things in the world (qlippoth) obstruct our clear view of reality. Therefore, we should endeavor to repair the broken world that we inhabit.-And then of course, the Na'vi are waging jihad against the occupying humans. -Jake is short for Jacob-Jacob took his brother Esau's inheritance by wearing goatskins on his arms so his father would think he was Esau-Jake literally wears his brother's Avatar and takes his place in the programYou can stretch it any way you like, but the abrahamist stuff is a major informer.

I do wish there was just one badass completely human soldier guy running through these movies refusing an avatar, obviously not as important or strong as the protagonists but still hanging in there inexplicably. Maybe on RDA side or maybe not or just running with Quaritch through personal loyalty.
>>217300084No. It's actually a giant stingbat
Jim limited the head count so as not to bloat the cast, but realistically speaking in those 14 years of Neytiri and her Toruk Makto living peacefully together, how many kittens would Neytiri pop out before Jake got scared and convinced her to let him start pulling out?
>>217300174Honestly 4 is a pretty low number ( I'm including Kiri since she is a time and love sink). If there were 5 in total (4 bio and Kiri) it would be more legit. Maybe they will give a litter to Quaritch and Varang in the sequel to rectify this issue.
>>217300129That COULD have been the General. He could have been a badass leading the Human forces defeating the regular Na'vi forces while Quaritch only hunted Jake. But nah, they chose to put that woman as General and have her do absolutely nothing.
>>217300174realistically speaking anything below 6 means Jake is gay.It also might be the case that Eywa controls reproduction much more actively to prevent overpopulation, but that's up to interpretation I think (she might control overpopulation indirectly by environmental pressures)
>>217300289That would've been a repeat of Quaritch. He already plays the role of the badass, experienced, hands-on military officer. Ardmore, a careerist who doesn't respect her enemy, works as a contrast for Quaritch.
>>2173001748 would've been a realistic amount.
>>217300452The Na'vi should have some birth control, or else their population would explode, as they don't seem to have the ungodly infant mortality rates of primitive human societies.
>>217300485Nah. The human commanders should all be badasses and not pushover jokes. It wouldn't be a repeat because they wouldn't have any personal vendetta nor be targeting Jake. They'd be a side story showing the Humans kicking ass and winning while Jake and his family hid thousands of miles away.
>>217300452Eywa might also have set up all those dangerous initiation rites (Ikran taming etc.) to control na'vi numbers.
>>217300452>the Mangkwan were actually fucking too much so I had to make the mountain shoot hot face-melting lavaThank you Eywa, very cool!
>>217300174The Navi probably have a plant or something that you crush up and stuff into the vagina as a contraceptive.
>>217300051The age of tree and water is over, it's now the age of fire
>>217300602>>217300539Or Eywa has a way of controlling the fertility of Na'vi women, so as to keep their population below a certain level.Maybe during a longer stretch of peacetime they would all be limited to having 2 children, and Neytiri was permitted to have 3 because of how many Na'vi died in battle in the first movie
>>217296989I think Na'vi understand they are being attacked by her Kuru. They are religious but not stupid.
>>217300595Something I hoped Fire and Ash would have, but which wasn't there, was some commentary on how Eywa has limitations and can make mistakes. >mentioning that Eywa doesn't control the moon's geology and can't prevent something like a volcanic eruption >pointing out how gifting Spider the ability to breathe the air is good for him but a potential fuckup on a larger scale, helping the humans destroy everything else, showing a lack of foresight
>>217300721not that they're stupid, but they have a very different perspective from a military man, they get bogged down in the emotions of it all, whereas a grizzled veteran knows pain is temporary and is able to cope under duress, which gives him more clarity and thus better decision making capabilites.
>>217300721Jake says the Mangkwan cut off the kuru to steal the victims power so clearly the na'vi think there is power in the kuru. They also think Varang is a powerful witch that can use her kuru aggressively so simply put normal na'vi are at a psychological disadvantage from the start even before Varang starts to painfully read their minds
I think the moments in which Varang's cowardice shine through are a big plus, it gives her a lot of depth and so briefly, it tells she's still a scared little girl at heart who copes by inflicting misery on the helpless. The moments I'm talking about are when Neytiri threatens to cut her kuru in the tent back in Bridgehead and her KWABbing against Kiri. A witch whose powers are in part smoke and mirrors, drugs and weaponized sociopathy, who's a coward beneath it all.
>>217300829Eywa doesn't have foresight like that because it's not an actualy person nor deity. Cameron is building up to reveal it's just a biological program taking care of the world. Due to Kiri's weird birth with Grace passing through it back into the Avatar's womb, Kiri can control that program and force it to do things it's not supposed to. That's why Kiri was being pushed out from talking to Eywa because Kiri is not meant to have that level of access
>>217300985If they do that then the woodsprite landing on Neytiri's arrowhead to save Jake and how they swarmed him to tell her he was special are both reduced to bizarre random events.
>>217300985Her self-discovery path in seeking Eywa is very well done artistically, walking against a strong wind and a bright light in a dark jungle as in the hardships of introspection and facing objective reality works very well from a purely visual and metaphorical standpoint. Peak storytelling actually. Cameron still has it. Plus the kinoest frame of the year.

>>217300973She's still a fighter but she is deeply motivated by fear, or at least by trying to keep it at bay. I think that's why she makes a big deal about her sacrifices, when she finds someone with a strong heart she wants to take it out, like she'll gain their courage or something. I wish we had seen that come to fruition, I wonder if she eats them.
>>217301418>sleeping Varang's arms are positioned as if she were holding a rifle and her upper body twitches sometimes>"look, she's dreaming she's committing war crimes! how cute!"
I want to strangle this character to death, and I mean it in the most sincere premediated murder way.
>>217301479There's also the outward psychological aspect, she probably carries out the eating of the heart as a public ceremony, so that her followers get the message that their conquest was hers principally, as *she* is the one consumating the victory or the absorption of the vanquished foe. "I WANT HER HEART" is what she yells just as Neytiri escapes iirc, she wants everyone to know its hers because that affirmates her leadership. She isn't subtle about it because she surely has realised almost all of her subordinates can physically overpower her and challenge her for the position, it's also why it's likely she engages in strategic sex making to appease them.

Just watched FaA for the first time brosI love Kiri so much it's fucking unreal.I feel so bad for Spider, I can't believe Majake really had a knife to his throat. Feel like that moment was really contrived just to show that Neytiri overcame some of her racism towards the pink fucking shits by opposing Jake's decision. I always thought Jake had a special connection to Spider like he does with Quaritch because deep down he knows he's a human like he is. I mean he didn't kill him but I'm sad that he tried to make himself do it. But I love overall how complicated the characters became in TWoW and FaA. I don't agree with a lot of Majake's decisions and he fucks a lot of things up. Fire and Ash really deepened my ambivalence towards him, he gets even more based/cringe in equal measures in this one. But the movie made me like Neytiri way more than I did previously. I felt the same about everyone else except her and Jake (Kiri was already perfect and Quaritch was already based)
>>217302238Didn't that literally happen with the release of the first movie?

>>217301838>>217301858Fuck her. I just got my Ikran, the game is totally worth it even with its downsides. It's the best treatment for PAD. If the human characters weren't walking examples of the infamous"millennial writing" and the enemy AI wasn't braindead It'd be even better. But I'm biased regarding enemy AI, I played through the first F.E.A.R. several times on the Veteran difficulty, so it's a very high bar.

>>217302257>I feel so bad for Spider, I can't believe Majake really had a knife to his throat.>8 years later>millions of humans are pouring into Pandora>they all can breathe the air and have kurus>they are enslaving all the animals to do their bidding and have complete control over Eywa>all of the Na'vi have been rounded up or killed>Oh noez! If only we could have seen this coming! But nope, no one could have predicted this!Jake has been write over and over yet repeatedly has to back down and act like he's wrong due to dumb bleeding hearts too chickenshit to do what is necessary for the good of the whole rather than a single person. Spider jeopardizes literally the entire moon. You don't want to accept that and simply want a happy dorky disney story where the bad guys are defeated and the good guys never do anything "wrong"
>>217301815i thought no one use that site anymore
>>217302257Jake tried to kill him out of his love for Pandora, I don't think it was contrived at all because that's fundamental to his character.
>>217302555>repeatedly has to back down and act like he's wrong due to dumb bleeding heartsHe backed down of his own accord because Spider is a son to him and he loves him.
>>217302257Jake is the fuck-up brother and professional crayon-eater. It's great to see his flaws on display despite his best and bravest efforts.>>217302555Jake was wrong because they already knew Spider could breathe Pandoran air and had scans of him, but you could put that down to jarhead panic.
>>217302257I think Jake should have gotten another scene or two. I think he's having a breakdown over Neteyam's death for most of the movie but we only get brief glimpses of it (Lo'ak saying he's pretty much shut down emotionally, Neytiri snatching the alcohol from him). Jake killing Spider is a drowning man desperately searching for any possible rope to grab onto. He's not thinking straight and only with Spider and Neytiri's help in that scene does he finally wake up
>>217302691>Neytiri snatching the alcohol from himI didn't notice that, when was it?
>>217302555Don't forget that >Neytiri also changed her mind and tried to stop Jake from killing him, despite also being fully aware of the potential threat >it's never fully confirmed by anyone on either side whether the effect could be reverse-engineered and replicated >if it is possible, the RDA might already have what they need from studying him, so killing him later wouldn't have made a difference >or they could write it where it can't be replicated and is something only Eywa can do on a per-person basis
>>217293906If RDA cloned humans there would be an immediate blue collar political backlash against them and they would jeopardize their work force. At least with inert alien clones the humans wouldn't see a replacement for themselves.

>>217302677>>217302723Jake doesn't know for sure they ran tests on him, right? They did scan him but for all we know that was preliminary, it probably takes a lot more digging hence why he's kept in the lab cage, to get more scans done.

>>217302677>Jake is the fuck-up brother and professional crayon-eater.His na'vi kids inheriting his corny American military family shtick is cute. Tuk saying "Sullys never quit!" and willing Kiri to save everyone, probably some silly thing Jake heard his parents say to him and his brother on family camping trips or something, was awesome.
>>217302257>>217302691Neytiri is the best female character of the first quarter of the 21st century for me. And you also realize that she hates Spider even more in the beginning of FaA possibly also because her eldest son died while trying to rescue him so she also might be irrationally blaming Spider for his death. Honestly looking forward to see how this relationship develops, the boy deserves a mother figure like Neyney after all he's been through and she has so much warmth to give. For me she's up there with Ripley and Sarah Connor
Projections are 1.6-1.8 range. The it will own streaming.
My initial guess was 1.7 and it would been the most steamed movie in history
>>217302823Would be* Auto correct

>Kiri is literally an immaculate conception Jesus type birth>also extremely connected to Eywa>already known that the Na'vi go to Earth in the fifth movieShe's at least partially Eywa in a mortal body and will end up sacrificing herself to spread Eywa to Earth, absolving humanity of it's sins, saving them and purifying them of their greed and cruelty. What the fuck is MaJake Sully? Is she trying to say muh Jake? As in my Jake? As in this Jake is mine?
>>217303291Did you not watch the director's cut of Avatar 1? Jake has literally nothing, it's why he falls for escapism in his avatar more than the other humans with avatars do.
>>217303291At least with Jake it's suggested that he was a loner on Earth, with few or no connections left. His brother died and he showed very little emotion over it With other RDA troops I guess the idea is that unobtanium was profitable enough to make the paychecks big enough to compensate for whatever else is lost
>James cut the scene from the first movie actually showing how fucking bad it is on Earth, the entire planet is basically Detroit, pollution everywhere, completely overcrowded, every street is retarded third worlders packed shoulder to shoulder coughing and sneezing on each otherwhy?
>>217303364
>>217303379Quaritch mentions in FaA that his wife was on Pandora with them so a lot of the RDA guys probably brought their families.
>>217303291Jake was literally a dirt poor cripple living in a closet sized apartment off of disability benefits who's only living family - his brother - was suddenly murdered by a mugger, giving him a unique opportunity to visit the mythical planet of Pandora and do groundbreaking new research since he is genetically compatible with his brother's avatar. Why wouldn't he go?
>>217303291They can start a family on the planet, I don't think it's forbidden. If you have nothing going on on earth you may as well try in a reduced, maybe less picky sex pool where everyone has the same things in common. That said, I would think RDA probably markets the life vaguely and only springs the realities of it when they get off the shuttle.
>>217303387>Ma Jake, where art thou
>>217303291You do realize plenty of people in the 19th century emigrated to America never to see their families again.
Can we stop with the ‘Lo’ak got his brother killed memes?’. No he didn’t. They’re in a war and their other brother was captive. They had the best opportunity to rescue him then and there. Lo’ak made the right call. Netayam getting shot was just an unfortunate event. It happens. Lo’ak did nothing wrong that entire film.
>>217303405Not his wife. A hookup with a soldier under his command, where the entire relationship occurred on Pandora, making Spider a literal bastard child and making it a little more plausible that it happened despite never being seen or mentioned in the first movie
>>217303364>Is she trying to say muh Jake?Need neckbeard Neytiri tipping a fedora now.
>>217303369>Did you not watch the director's cut of Avatar 1?I think a lot of people who are mad at Jake for "betraying humanity" never saw the Extended edition and they have no idea that Earth is a literal cyberpunk dystopia and that Jake was just living in a cuckbox "live in a pod, eat ze bugs" style.
>>217303470>Lo’ak did nothing wrong that entire filmHe fucked up badly five times. I've counted
>>217303492>2026>that cuckbox is extremely sought after and you can't get one for under 300K dollaridoos anywhere near where there's employment
>>217303470He fucked up in this film, he forgot his comm.
The Avatar franchise is a 20 hours version of that Star Trek episode where Kirk becomes an injun
>>217303492Even if it wasn't it's completely understandable to want to defend a Garden of Eden type planet with a unique ecology where everything can LITERALLY connect to each other at a neurological level, and a culture of normally peaceful and nature living giant blue intelligent cats. I know a lot of people are larping when they defend the RDA in these threads because it's fucking funny but the movie is pretty transparently trying to make you hate them when they act so flagrantly disrespectful towards the planet and it's people.>They are fly bitten savages>He'll move, these people have to learn we don't stopThey'll just turn jungle heaven into a gigantic Walmart if allowed to.
>>217303386It helps get to the spectacle faster, plus there were some problems with imax/3d? or something runtimes back then. The bar in that sequence also just looks like a normal present day bar so it kinda reduces the suspension of disbelief.
>>217303492>many humans wearing masks and respirators>tons of brown and black people in hijabsThis is eerily prophetic for a 2009 movie
>>217301418
>>217303258I genuinely want to see stepmother Varang.
>>217302772>>217303222The fact is they know it's possible and they have some idea how, so Pandora's box is already open. Denying them access to Spider (or his corpse) will only delay them as they get more funding and boots on the ground to figure out how to do it themselves.
>>217303480Yeah him trying to be subtle about Miles Jr makes a lot of sense.
>>217303386Because those earth scenes are corny and undercooked, and the context they provide is redundant. The movie is much better just dropping you into the world straight away. I also really like the idea of the audience not knowing they're listening to a paraplegic narrating until he pulls his wheelchair out, it makes it seem like that's something Jake would forget to mention telling a story because he tries not let it hold him down.
Do other animals use their antenna things for anything other than being slaves to the na’vi?
>>217303776I agree with the paraplegic thing but I think just giving the viewer a brief visual of how shitty things are on Earth adds a ton of context to why Jake prefers being on Pandora and doesn't want humanity to spread there
>>217302555edgy fedorafag tier post. Spider was chosen by Eywa, the planet literally allowed him to breathe and gave him a kuru. Which is why Neytiri wants to save him, because it's literally the will of Eywa that Spider become Na'vi.
>>217303694Plus if they have advanced enough AI to do tons of automated self-replicating construction, like building a huge city in only 1 year, then they should also be able to simulate the biology of whatever is going on in Spider's lungs, based on taking samples from him, until they figure out how to make it work. Some have pointed out that the premise of Pluribus only works for the current narrow level of human technology >advanced enough to synthesize RNA >not advanced enough to simulate the RNA and figure out what it does before you infect rats or people with the real virus The RDA should be immune to it, if they were to receive the plurbing signal
>>217303802It isn't slavery, the bond is portrayed as a consensual, reciprocal, and temporary neural partnership. It requires cooperation from both parties, can be broken at will, the animal must accept the bond or it can injure the Na'vi connecting to it and it still retains it's own will and instincts.
>>217302555I get how it can be exploited by humans, but isn't being "infected" by Eywa also a potential threat to them? Like becoming part of the connection everything shares on Pandora undermines their will to oppose the planet. It introduces the possibility for them to go:>Oh my God, I get it now.
>>217303947>>217303947>>217303947I see Ausfags waking up

>>217303632It would be really neat if Quaritch's motivation followed from this scene and he tried to make Spider a replacement for his mother out of Varang. Something about that would feel like a culmination to his clumsy attempts to take responsibility for him.
>>217303902Are those things running on AI, or are they just programmed on very specific data and it only seems like the former?
>>217304182It's a form of AI if they're able to do it and remain coordinated and not have a project ruined by a tiny error, like when a 3D print fails
>>217304182>>217304283So AI like a game where you let the computer fight?
>>217304594No, AI like it can think like a human but be faster and more efficient and more productive
