The character design just pisses me off. Clearly Jem'Hadar despite being half Klingon or some shit, even when it doesn't make sense to the lore of the species simply because "fuck you, we own the IP." And it's not the millennials you want to blame for everything doing it, it's Gen X with the righteousness thinking they're smarter, better, can rewrite history in each & every way they see fit.

Just depressed since it feels like they want this to fail & kill the franchise. This isn't made for anyone outside of the c-suite seeking good vibes so they can tell the stockholders that they acknowledged woke people as well, despite that audience also wanting nothing to do with this slop.

Not sure ST:ACK! can even be hate watched.

Gene was right about Jews as its clear they've totally ruined Trek. Shows been in steady declining since Jews took over and its only gotten worse as more and more of them get brought in.

No, Janeway only acted the way she did because she was besties with Tuvok. It was also probably the main reason she violated the temporal prime directive at finale.
Which is funny because I dont think anywhere in the show they established any episodes fully exploring their relationship or developed any significant chemistry. You were just supposed to take it at the writers word that Tuvok and Janeway had this bond. Really dropped the ball there, I guess they had this idea to do a Picard/Guinan type thing but failed.

>>
>>217303815

Jadzia's problem is that she's an over-ambitious character to write. Some members of her species (Trill) can become hosts for these slug creatures (Symbionts) that live more-or-less forever. So she's simultaneously a young woman and also has hundreds of years of experience, including being besties with the captain in her past life. The writers never figure out how much of her personality is supposed to come from the Symbiont and how much from the Trill host and it just flip-flops constantly. One episode she remembers something from her 2nd ever host and the next apparently her previous host can keep his memories secret from her.
If they'd managed to nail it Jadzia could've been an amazing character but ultimately she ends up being a let-down.
That said, DS9 on the whole is many people's favourite Trek series (including mine) because of the sharper lens it focuses on the existing parts of the Galaxy, the introduction of a new major threat bringing interesting political upheaval between the major powers and challenge the optimistic utopian ideals of the federation without outright rejecting them nutrek style.

> He is one of us.

No, he isn't. Its just how bad ST controlled by jews is. Even a bellend like Elon can rip on it.

Him "being one of us" would be like, "clearly Tori's therapeutic strategy of eating lots of chocolate and unlimited food created by replicators has unintended consequences on society a millennia later..."

That requires an understanding of the canon and some sense of humor. Elon has neither.
>>
>>217303832
Elon was probably watching TNG live. Not many here can say that.
>>
>>217303940
> Jadzia's problem

Don't forget Terri, who is very hot, never acted before and was a MODEL they hired. Sure, lots of talented actors were/are also models but it sounds like she had zero acting experience and got hired for being hot.

That didn't help. Pretty much all the other cast were veterans so her skill-gap was obvious.
>>
>>217303940
>the introduction of a new major threat bringing interesting political upheaval between the major powers and challenge the optimistic utopian ideals of the federation without outright rejecting them nutrek style.
It's scifi so I'd be watching it for cool tech stuff, and because scifi is (or can be) a great platform for exploring different political and social ideas through different lenses. I assumed if DS9 had shitty characters like what was described then they probably weren't handling the other stuff well, but if I like Next Generation I'll try DS9.

TWOK was using a prop to remind the audience that the original crew was old as fuck and that starships were for younger people.

It was never meant to become a canon thing. In fact, the way TWOK was written it was considered to be the last trek movie since Nimoy wanted out and since the other stalwart (Bones) was also pretty old.

In anything TWOK was the original "academy" spinoff; they could've started a new series with the youngbloods with Kristy Ally as the new Spock and maybe kept Shanter around for a while until a new captain found their footing.

It was a gag, as was the book as a gift (Spock gave him a book whose main theme is self sacrifice for others benefit as an act of love and Bones gives him reading glasses so he can actually study the book.)

Goddamn media literacy is bad these days.

The people writing TWOK never ever intended for people to be using their decision to give Kirk read glasses as plot elements nearly a half century later. They were using recognizable objects to convey messages to the audience, "oh look Kirk is an old man now."

The fact that corrective lenses are a thing in a futuristic universe 1200 years from now is retarded. We're at the point where we will soon be able to grow replacement lenses and insert them into peoples eyes to fix them.

1200 years from now in a universe with FTL travel and shit they should be able to correct simple eye problems like slightly deformed lenses with ease. Probably in the embryo stage or soon after.

Hell, why not just beam out the bad lens and beam in a corrected one made from the dna of the person?

But this is a minor complaint about ACK. There will be plenty of reasons to hate it.

next gen is the best of star trek shows for comfy background watching, with DS9/VOY being close behind for the same production quality
TOS is nice in the background but has lots of fun but sometimes annoying sound effects
ENT is good background too as long as you like the intro theme song

The idea of the time skip was peak kurtzman retardation. The excuse of "the burn" doesn't really cover the other issues that make it feel completely wrong. It was already established that the Federation will eventually have ships like the Enterprise J that from the concepts could travel to other galaxies and be operated by thought interfaces, and after that timeships that can presumably go anywhere at any time. And those despite being canon were very nebulous and rightfully vague. By all rights going forwards hundreds of years past TNG era things would probably get a lot weirder for humanity, to the point that things would appear alien to even the viewer. Instead we got a situation where everything is the same but warp nacelles are unattached and they all have portable insta-transporters.
That's like if retards wanted to continue C.S. Forester's British Naval novels 1000 years in the future and the British Empire and naval culture/ships are still around sailing the seas (but.. but made of metal instead of wood! and faster!), and they don't even conceive of the idea that humanity might have entered into space or that culture/ideas might have changed.

Cajun food sucks. Its like big pot boils of basic ass foods like corn on the cob and potatoes with these bug-like things they find burrowed in the grounds all around Naw Orleans. Then they add random ass spices to cover up the muck flavor of the sea bugs that also like to crawl onto land and dig up lawn.

Fake Cajun is better which is why Pop Eyes is a thing. Take real food like fried chicken and just call it Cajun cause you added pepper to it.

No one wants to eat some old black mans oysters. Even in an utopian future world. They still have hot pockets and pizza rolls in the 23rd century and replicators just spit them out instantly. Why go out to eat when I could replicate 2000 pizza rolls and not feel guilty about eating only 100 of them??
>>
>>217304803
>replicate 2000 pizza rolls and not feel guilty about eating only 100 of them
So you'd just toss 1900 pizza rolls out the window, or would you teleport them somewhere??

What the fuck are you smoking even thinking about throwing those pizza rolls out? You leave them out til they get cold and dry and you randomly eat more off the tray when you get peckish til you feel like they've been out too long, then and only then do you throw the rest out.
>>
>>217304452
I watch them while I cook, eat, and am getting ready for bed, so I go through them pretty quickly. I'm rewatching IT Crowd now but that won't last long.

>>217304519
It's not really background, I'm still paying attention.
>>
>>217304824
No, I'd dereplicate them into pure energy and not worry about it or have my kids shucking oysters in the back ally like a broke negroidian.

DS9 writers suffered from "but I want to tell MY story" every so often. Baseball, New Orleans and the holographic lounge singer were all examples of the writers wedging their personal projects into a narrative that didn't need them.

Theres a difference between having a bartender who has real liquor because the replicators don't make it or Riker frying some exotic eggs he stole from the ovaries of the latest alien he banged and a dude operating an old fashion restaurant in a civilization that doesn't do that shit anymore.
>>
>>217304932
chronologically is the kino watch order in that case
there's lots of old scifis that had respectable runs too, bab5, farscape, stargate would be the largest next to trek (other than dr, who which is a gargantuan series altogether)

Shit tier food filled with bugs. No thanks.

Imagine how awesome the pizza rolls and pop tarts are 200 years from now. I bet they never get old or freezer burn.

I don't want to eat sea bugs now. Even cooked in cajun garbage sauce. Go scope your primitive dirt-people food into your mouth with your fingers like some caveman.

I'll eat unlimited pizza rolls out of Jeri Ryans cleavage.

>>

You know how in early TNG the writers would struggle to end an episode so Picard would just say “Have you considered not doing that?” And the bad aliens leave? That’s the baseline writing quality of Doctor Who.

old dr. who is comparable to original star trek, a bit cheesy but they do well with what they're working with, then it died at the end of the 80s
nu-who was a reboot from the 00s, it starts a bit weak, got crazy popular and better in quality for maybe a decade then it dropped off hard again and is begging to be cancelled (for mercy's sake if nothing else)
that said, there's SHITLOADS of episodes, some that are fucking lost to fires and only exist as radio plays and slideshows

TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY 200-300 years in future. FTL travel, extended life spans, food replicators.

ST ACK ~1200 years in the future. We should be seeing super advance tech. Like instead of having a replicator make your food you just have nanobots inside you that beam your shit out of your colon, converts it to pizza rolls and beams it into your hand one at a time.

This is why ACK will fail. They went so far ahead the tech should be mindblowing but instead (in jewish fashion) they'll just be stories about gay klingons and jaher madars lezzin out with Tig while Picardo injects borg nanites into the nor al white people that turns them brown and gay as hell.

Listened to a couple of episodes of the D-Con Chamber podcast. The one with Berman and Braga was reasonably interesting. The one with Bakula was extremely dull with a large section of the interview dedicated to the dietary requirements of the various members of Scott Bakula's family. Dominic Keating comes off as a bit of a moron while Connor Trinneer seemed to me to be much more perceptive.

try watching the show, cocksucker.
from Prime Factors in season 1
>JANEWAY: I don't even know where to start. I want you to explain to me how you, of all people, could be involved in this.
>TUVOK: It is quite simple, Captain. You have made it clear on many occasions that your highest goal for the crew is to get them home. But in this instance, your standards would not allow you to violate Sikarian law. Someone had to spare you the ethical dilemma. I was the logical choice, and so I chose to act.
>JANEWAY: You did it for me because you knew I couldn't.
>TUVOK: I accept the consequences of my actions. I expect to loose my commission and to be court-martialled when we return to Federation space.
>JANEWAY: You are one of my most valued officers and you are my friend. It is vital that you understand me here. I need you, but I also need to know that I can count on you. You are my counsel, the one I turn to when I need my moral compass checked. We have forged this relationship for years and I depend on it. I realise you made a sacrifice for me, but it's not one I would have allowed you to make. You can use logic to justify almost anything. That's it's power, and it's flaw. From now on, bring your logic to me. Don't act on it behind my back.
>TUVOK: You have my word. My logic was not in error, but I was.
>>
>>217306282

Writers should show not tell. Like I said I dont remember there ever being a Voyager episode with Janeway and Tuvok having an adventure together with good chemistry/character building. Even that one episode with Sulu was mainly Janeway wandering in Tuvok's mind and asking him things she should have known from knowing him so long. They rea;;y needed an episode like Time's Arrow which cemented Picard and Guinan's relationship.
