I'm actually surprised that it took The Green Inferno nearly half the movie to really get into the action. I don't have much experience with the Italian subgenre beyond Cannibal Holocaust but in comparison this felt a lot more like a slower decent into the madness, which actually made for a great start I thought. That and the social activism commentary still holds up well, not a whole lot really has changed in that regard and its great that some of the characters have their own agenda instead of being a binary good and evil.
That said none of the jokes in the second half really worked, the CG looks awful and really stands out next to the practical effects, but other than that I don't know why people online seem to loathe this film beyond the insinuation of sexual abuse. That or because the cannibal subgenre is just inherently controversial.

too jewish for the right and too chuddy for everyone else, and yeah not gritty enough for fans of the original cannibal era.

Please post moar crazy stalker films. I can't get enough of this criminally neglected genre. Stalker can be male or female.

I just watched this old one from 1982 starring Morgan Fairchild:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-xNxuFt_T4

Not the greatest film ever, but Interesting detail is they have a scene explaining what the guy's major malfunction is, (erotomania - the bizarre belief that the celebrity is in love with YOU rather than the other way around as you'd expect regardless of how much said celebrity may try to disabuse them of that notion). Though it's not detailed all that well, and doesn't quite play out that that way in terms of the plot. But I've never seen these films really lay it out or go into that much at all.

Seems like a critical detail to really understand the IRL psychology of these particular stalkers, as well as it seems to me like it would make for a better stalker film to use that angle better. It does come as a sudden shock to a lot of celebrities the 'le twist' that's actually what's going on in the heads of their craziest fans:

The fact that the human brain can develop erotomania to such an unshakable degree is fascinating in an of itself, like dude WTF?, but the IRL examples of it are just truly astounding.

I'd like to understand how this shit even works, along with why Brent fucking Spiner of all people seems to get way more than his fair share:

The brain is just a physical thing, and if something about it is fucked up, like chemically or it gets physically damaged, it can change who you are completely. Finished watching the Legion cut of Exorcist III. On one hand, it rightfully cuts out the forced exorcism bit at the end, but on the other it entirely cuts out Jason Miller and the unfortunate but sadly necessary interspersing of low quality VHS dailies among the crispy clear HD upscaled footage to fill in some of the missing scenes with the longest being Kinderman's scenes in the cell with the Gemini Killer really takes you out of it and honestly kind of ruins the impact some of them are supposed to have.

I haven't read the Legion book, but if Gemini still ends up possessing Father Karras' body at the end of The Exorcist and Kinderman still sees him as Karras the entire time why did Blatty object to Jason Miller's return? I don't think it makes the movie better to exclude him desu I actually think it makes it worse. The original ending with Kinderman just shooting Gemini is rather anticlimactic which is probably why the studio wanted that exorcism scene and it has the fingerprints of retarded test audiences all over it, but it fits better with the kind of story it was trying to tell. Exorcisms were supposed to be an almost extinct practice in the first movie. I'm still not sure if the exclusion and inclusion of other scenes were for the better or worse either but next time I'll probably watch both back to back again just to be sure, but beyond that I think I'll stick to the theatrical cut for any future rewatches I do.
>>
>>217310773
Oh and just to be clear I meant the original Legion ending fits better with the story even if it's anticlimactic.

>psychological thrillers
Wasn't that term invented specifically for Silence of the Lambs so they didn't have to call it horror? There's a lot of overlap there anyway. I still don't get what makes movies like The Sixth Sense and Shutter Island le psychological thrillers over horror aside from their endings. They both have scary scenes in them the endings don't change that fact.
>>
>>217311351
Shutter Island is kino and everyone should see it.
I've seen Cape Fear as well, but just realized Scorsese has another one called Bringing Out the Dead. Might have to check it out.
>>
Just finished. I don't know if I have anything to say about this one, lol. Starts off snowy and of course grim and focuses on a kid, so it was a good followup to Lodge. Basically what happens is little girl's getting raised alone's mom dies. She grows up to be a goat farmer and single mother to an infant girl herself. She's ostracized and some Christian girl who gets close to her is just setting her up to get raped and kills her goats. I'm retaliation the main girl puts a dead rat in the water supply and everyone dies. She goes into the woods with her baby, gets high on mushrooms and drowns it. Back at her house she realizes what she's done, cooks and eats the baby, and her house burns down. between The Lodge and this, I don't think women can be trusted to take care of themselves bros.

>>
>>217311850
Uh, it just moves sooo slow and I can't tell what it's trying to do. It rides a thin line between non-narrative and traditional storytelling because it's kind of "here's just a bunch of shit that happened" it's hard to tell if it has an objective. I'd say free up your drive space and watch it on Tubi sometime, I'm sure they'll have it for a while.

On the Stereotypical Arthouse Horror Spectrum it's exactly halfway between The VVitch and Sleep Has Her House. It does feel like something someone who was trying to make fun of The Witch by exaggerating it would make, lol

>Sleep Has Her House
hmmm haven't seen that, might check it out. trailer looked like you could play black metal over the top of it.
I don't dislike arthouse, I just think a lot of the european horror has been taking the piss with the feminist themes and a lot of times the emperor just has no clothes.

It was supposed to be PG-13 family oriented horror intended as a gateway movie for kids to get into the genre according to Fuller, but there was one scene that pushed it into R. Something about a non-lethal toothbrush injury. A lot of stuff like that like Ernest Scared Stupid, The Witches, Gremlins etc. are very old and we do lack some new classics that aren't just animated so it's a shame it got that rating.

Just finished. Bog standard haunted house flick starring Erin Moriarty but at the time she was nobody so she was third billed but she's the main character. I was bored to death EXCEPT 15 minutes til the end the twist is it isn't a ghost, it's a guy living in their walls. Makes sense why they ditched the original title, Crawlspace, spoils that shit up front. So I liked that, but the first hour is just lots of "why am I watching this shit?" If you like Presence you'll dig this, or seeing Erin in shorts and crop tops pre-bog.

Watched 3 movies and only one is kinda horror, but more of a thriller:

>OO Ceremony
This is weird and interesting. Even when they explain it to you, it still doesn't make much sense. It's about these brothers that do wedding videography. They work this wedding, but there's no groom and only people are only sitting on the groom's side. There's always this atmosphere of something being not right, which locks you into the movie waiting for it to unfold. I'd recommend giving it a watch since it's only 40 minutes long, definitely won't be for everyone.

You have the "just finished" guy posting every day in these threads who apparently watches 5 movies a day. Only a NEET with no social life has the time to do that. Just CTRL+F and you get 5 results all made within the span of 15 hours.
>>
>>217322389

>>
>>217322507
“Social life” are for brokies and midwits. I used to work and when you work 40 hours a week, you get stressed and feel the need to get beers, go on vacation or socialize.
>neet with no social life watching 5 movies
You make this sound like a bad thing. Neets irl are not on gibs or welfare but kids from upper middle class or above families.

that's multiple anons. but the three movies a day anon at least watches them properly and gives good reviews.

>>
>should I watch X film? I am npc and cannot think for myself

>>217322507
I don't watch 5 movies a day, it's usually 2-3 new movies in the morning. That takes me about 4-4.5 hours. That's doable if you have a job, just have to manage your time correctly. Now, I might watch something else during the day, but it's in the background and something I've already seen.
>muh social life
I hate people, do horribly in the heat, and have bad social anxiety. All I want in life is to indulge in my hobbies and be left alone.
