In retrospect, was it ever good?
>>217305380Yes, the first 4 seasons are objectively the greatest television of all time. Anybody pretending that the series (ending included) it's at least a top 5 TV series is either a contrarian or a bandwagon normie that just follows the noise.
>>217305523too much sex
>>217305380The best>>217305523fpbp
>>217305380No. This show sucked and was badly written. It was critically acclaimed during the D&D fart huffing era when they were critic-proof and GoT was treated by normies like some kind of high art masterpiece. Now that the hype is dead, people are starting to realize how bad it was.
>>217305380It peaks with season 1 and declines with every season. not one season is better than the last. You can always tell who's still coping if they say some shit like s4 which is full of utter retardation. it was shit very early, but the average person kept slopping it up for a long time. would like to point out the books also fall off
season 1 is goodseason 2 is ok but already buckling under D&D's retardationeverything after is a lost cause
I liked seasons 1, 2, and 4. Rest were meh.
>>217306310>>217306285>>217306231AFFC and ADWD are dogshit books. Go suck a shotgun.
>>217306439>muh AFFC and ADWDLiterally your only defense nigga. Those books being shit doesn’t change the fact of the latter seasons being shit as well.
>>217306439buckbroken schizo
>>217306439The only post you replied to that even mentioned the books was literally agreeing with you on the books falling off as well you fucking spastic.
>>217306439>"would like to point out the books also fall off"guards, throw this retarded zesty homosexual into the chokey
>let's ruin robs entire character for some brown woman
I hated the final season when it dropped but I rewatched the entire show a few months ago and final season wasn't that unreasonable except for some blatant bullshit like 'Dany kinda forgot about the iron fleet'. You can tell it was rushed and they could've easily done one or two more seasons, it's just that the acceleration was way too fast. The tempo doesn't match the previous seasons.
>>217306782>I hated the final season when it dropped but I rewatched the entire show a few months ago and final season wasn't that unreasonable except for some blatant bullshit like 'Dany kinda forgot about the iron fleet'.Having shit like that happen every so often is bad, but forgivable. It's the difference between a great show and a good one. But a good show is still good. The problem with GOT is that it wasn't every so often. The final season is basically a non stop stream of characters "forgetting about the Iron Fleet" Characterization and world building was ignored, the writers bent over every character and shoved the terrible plot right up their ass, which made it even worse to begin in. Characters aren't making decisions becuase they're in character or beleivable or smart, but because they have to in order to make the plot work and that makes the show just bad.
>>217305380In retrospect no because S8 destroys the entire lore and turns the series into a very expensive and well polished mexican telenovela with dragons.
>>217306915I think not continuing the story after 25 years is alot more damage to the "Lore" lmao.
>>217306915>S8 destroys the entire lore How? Because the prophecy was bullshit? That was the whole point
The White Walkers, teased since the first epsiode of the show, a representation of how humanity's greed and ego blinds him to the real problems of world, actually isn't really that big of a problem, you just gotta stab him. Who wins the Game of Thrones, some crippled kid nobody in Westeros really knows. He' also might be evil, or maybe he's good, or maybe he just doesn't care. We really have zero idea what his motivations or plans are, but he's King now I guess. Oh yea he can also see the future, sometimes, maybe, again things aren't very clear. Everything we know about politics points to Westeros erupting in civil war once again in protest of his rule... but the show's over who cares about that kind of thing. But what does that matter, who rules isn't important to the story is it?The Mad King's daugther, who's enemies have been calling her mad for 7 seasons, turns out to actually be mad. Then she dies and her army vanishes faster than the White Walkers did when the Night King died. Sandor Celgane spent 30 years of his life not making a single move against his brother. Even after he abandoned the capital he spent like 4 seasons wandering around the Riverlands instead of doing shit against his brother. But in the last season he has a suicidal need to kill his brother for some reason, who by the way, is already dead.
>>217306886Idiot plot bro. Last two seasons was riddled with that shit.
>>217306915>mexican telenovela with dragonsThis hits hard, with the showrunners commenting about removing fantasy elements to appeal mothers and homosexuals.
It was *the* show to watch. Like other Anons said, the first 3-4 seasons were amazing the it started declining ever since to the point where the final season erased any rewatchability of the show. What made the early seasons so peak was the dialog/interactions between the characters rather than the action sequences. Season 7 and 8 chose the action route and had shittier writing
>>217305380no. but there was acting tallent in it.
Subversion kino. Future generations will look back at the ending and appreciate it for how subversive it is
>Subversion kino. Future generations will look back at the ending and appreciate it for how subversive it is
>>217305380>Years later and actors are still seething about poor fan reception of the last seasonAmazing stuff. Has there ever been a more severe fall off in cinematic history?
>>217306285tpbpSeason 1 was excellent. Season 2 was good but the cracks started showing. Season 3 had more issues but was still worth watching. After that, just awful.
I've tried rewatching the first season but each time they mentioned the white walkers I cringed so hard it made me abandon the show in the first episode. Hopefully someone will fix the show with AI or something.
The feeling that any character could die in the early seasons was fantastic for me. I understand that it wasn't the same for those who read the books.
>>217305380https://youtu.be/UR8nlgMKW7Q
the entire jon snow part and his unearable fat faggot friend was so bad I would skip it entirely
>>217306285s1 is also poorly written, tons of bad exposition. it just doesnt have the horrible reddit self aware tone of the later seasons (mostly). also benefits from the tight focus on neds plot
>>217306439no theyre good, they just have bad pacing bc theyre supposed to be one book
>>217307209>Everything we know about politics points to Westeros erupting in civil war once again in protest of his rulebrah, even if not just like dany, how is he even going to have an heir?
>>217307979>actors are still seething about poor fan reception of the last seasonSome of the actors were seething over the last season as well.
>>217308997I realized after posting that I should have said no dany plot and even then, kings landing had some filler. It's insane how s1 had around 8 perfect scenes and everything else is mediocre at best, god awful at worst. I can't think of many franchises carried by a few good moments like this. maybe star wars to an extent. boba fett was the literal giga draw of toys and he barely did anything apart from show up
>>217309404book hype carried it desu, and sean bean / Mark addy
>>217309559Cia guy and varys had their moment in front of the throne, but that scene lost all of its weight after those two characters got their hilariously shit endings. I remember that one scene getting so many people hooked on the concept though
>>217309631which one scene? those varys lf scenes were so cheesy
>>217309652https://youtu.be/BV6ecIfYBg4first exchange they have. like you said its cheesy but my entire family and most of my friends got baited into watching this entire slopfest because of this intrigue that went nowhere
>>217309743I bet you drive a Subaru.
>>217305380Season one is pure kino. Goes bad right after that.
>>217309743well yeah it was the potential of what might happen that really drew me in, that and the sex scenes since I was 16 at the time
>>217309760I'd be driving this mazda rx5 with a spoiler if i could find one in good condition nearby. genuinely no clue where you pulled that shocking close assessment from. I'm spiritually a suburu driver
>>217305380I watched this years after the hype after staying completely insulated apart from my auntie's fangirling. First 4 seasons are amazing, 5 and 6 are decent, it's only in 7 or 8 where it becomes a groanfest "why is any of this happening". Even then the production values stay amazing, and you're invested enough after so many hours that you don't check out completely.
Daenerys went from Dany to Ding-Dong way too fast
>>217309954>production values stay amazingliar
>>217305380s01 is 9.5/10s02-s04 is solid 8-8.5/10s05-s07 is 6-7/10s08 is -10/10, retroactively makes you hate the entire show
>>217305380Without considering books at all the 1-7 seasons are 9/10 and s8 is 3/10. It is incredible actually how much the s8 fumbled. However, if you consider the books then season 1 is 10/10 and then s2-4 7/10 and after that it is hard to even compare. Its shame that they drifted so much from the books as there are quite many kino things and characters in books that could've have worked phenomenally in the series.
>>217305380The scene where Oberyn got his skull crushed was pure kino
>>217310111A chainmail grandma sweater!
