I didn't watch an episode for years until I happened to catch the Planetina episode with a roommate out of curiosity. Might have actually been the worst shit I've ever seen. There is a scene where Morty unironically screams at his mom "You just don't understand!" and runs off to his room to cry. They play serious music and there are no jokes. It was played completely straight. R&M was hijacked by weirdos that were more into the "LoRe" than the actual sense of humor the show tried to cultivate in the first season.

Duncan visualizing the beachball bounce without fret only adds to the horror, as the balding, innocent child of the friend couple stares on with innocent, determined damnation. I somewhat knew the reliably sincere absurdity would run its course to the end, and Duncan wouldn't be scorned by his family as he's whisked away to an institution for his unconcerned infanticide, yet each visual detail made laps in hell orbiting rather lighthearted humor. Hauntingly hilarious. 5/5
