>"classic westerns are like, morally grey">"it's not like fairytales or modern Hollywood">"it's more about 'anti-heroes' than 'heroes'">John Wayne/Clint Eastwood is always the goodie>the guys he's shooting at are always the baddies????
Why is every animated western for kids always based off of Blazing Saddles? Why can't we get a PG furry version of A Fistful of Dollars?
>>217320104>John Wayne/Clint Eastwood is always the goodieThey aren't. In the Dollars trilogy Eastwood is an anti-hero. I haven't seen that many movies with John Wayne, but in The Searchers he wasn't exactly a good guy, in Red River he was somewhat a villain.
>>217320104Yes and no. All the spaghetti Westerns we think of as "classics" are gritty reinterpretations the real classics. "John Wayne/Clint Eastwood" isn't a thing, there's a big generational divide there.
>>217320442Rango?
>>217320104Clint Eastwood's character rapes a woman in the first 10 minutes of high plains drifter you fucking shit head.
>moral complexity is when the protagonist is meanthis made boomers clap like seals
>>217320528>In the Dollars trilogy Eastwood is an anti-heroEh he’s kind of an asshole but he always does the right thing in the end. Plus the people he fucks over are all legitimately bad people. Worst thing he did in that trilogy was leave Ugly out in the desert to die because of how cruel it was, but in the end he came around
>it's called the good, the bad, and the ugly but it describes how accurately they shoot instead of their moral alignment
>>217322573In for a fistful of dolars he comes to a town and makes it go to a war with itself for profit.
>>217320104>>"classic westerns are like, morally grey"resolution was so bad the good guy wore White, the bad guy wore black. Good guy stood facing to the right, the bad to the left this was because it was the only way for the audience to tell what was happening
>>217322643it was already at war with itself.
>>217322643They’re both murderous smuggler families already in a halfass cold war.
>>217322643 His character is Yojimbo
>>217322573>Eh he’s kind of an asshole but he always does the right thing in the endYes. That's what makes him an anti-hero.
>>217322588Holy shit>Can hit a rope at hundred yards >Uses others to do the dirty work for him >Sneak attacks people
>>217322396She liked it
