Bilbo's neighbours gossip about his wealth. But he lives in a huge manor house most likely at the heart a larger country estate. He would be loaded even without going on an adventure
>>217321717He was already wealthy, but the dragon's treasure made him rich. IIRC Bilbo was descended from some of the original settlers of the land and he inherited a bunch of land from his father.
>>217321717>there always will be>Frodo has no kids and fucks off to elf landsad
>>217321959He gives the manor to Sam and Rosie to raise their enormous family of 13 kids. Sam governs the Shire for 49 years living there. Based friend Frodo.
Still not rich enough for a bathroom.
>>217321993Yea, but Sam isn't a Baggins, he's a Gamgee.
>>217321717Yes, he was landed gentry, same as most of the Hobbits with the notable exception of Sam who had to work for a living (as Frodo's gardener). The Eternal Anglo can't think of a classless society not even in a fantasy book.
>>217321993but what was Sam's tax policy?
How are hobbits not fat as fuck when they eat so much?
>>217322165What do poorfag hobbit houses look like?
>>217322165>The Eternal Anglo can't think of a classless societyYes, because that's retardation that only a continental would think is either possible or good.
Do you think Bilbo used the ring to turn invisible and spy the female hobbits around the shire, even more raping them? just asking
>>217322165>The Eternal Anglorecreates the English countryside. did you think it was a coincidence they live in a shire? also stfu commie.
This is how Tolkien himself imagined the home. Even he forgot about peeing and pooping.
>>217322278>smoking room>not ventilated
>>217322322>not hotboxing the entire hobbit hole while giggling like Shaggy
>>217322278>Even he forgot about peeing and pooping. It's not like they had plumbing.
>>217322278>Baggins>live in Bag End>off of Bagshot RowThis man is lauded for his creativity and originality
>>217321798Yo whats this?
man, the fellowship is so much better than the 2 other movies
>>217322359I really can't imagine having to deal with shitting in an outhouse. Having to stumble outside in the freezing cold at night, praying there isn't a spider anywhere on the shitter.

>>217322373Steam VR. Load it up and there's a bunch of free environments to explore with a VR headset. One is Bag-End
>>217322278imagine someone asking Tolkien why Bilbo doesn't have a bathroom and he genuinely has no idea what defecating is, like it's a foreign concept to him
>>217322322>>not ventilatedsince the industrial revolution most British homes had fireplaces, chimneys and coal fires in most rooms. my childhood bedroom had one(non functional by that point)
>>217322390look up chamber pots
>>217322390my neighbour refused to have an indoor toilet installed, she lived into her early 100's>praying there isn't a spider anywhere on the shitter.Australians have to deal with this daily WITH their inside toilets
>>217322184Considering he thinks Jaime Lannister can beat Aragorn in a sword fight, I feel like even if Tolkien had discussed tax policies, Martin wouldn't know because he didn't fucking read it.
>>217322455Was her pussy still any good or was it like sandpaper at that point?
>>217321717Pre adventure Bilbo was the equivalent of an old money country gent who was just resting on his laurels.Post adventure Bilbo was the equivalent of an eccentric Duke living in the countryside.
>>217321717how does it prevent roof leaks, and wood mold and rot?

>>217322399>evil
>>217324153Feces and urine are important materials for craftsmen. So I am sure Hobbits collect them religiously and not just dump it in an outhouse.
>>217322278What happens here
>>217323028After use, you typically leave it in the hall so you could finish sleeping. Unless you need it multiple times a night, anyway.
>>217322278>>217322359>>217324253The Back Room is the bathroom. The passage going off the map goes deeper to another exit as well as access the cesspool. They wouldn't call it a cesspool but digging this sort of thing is easy for people who dig everywhere.
>>217322400Every time i think about starting up my meta quest three i think>meh it's probably out of batteriesReally need to get that battery pack.
>>217324596Don't wait, do it now, while it's on your mind.
>>217322184National socialism
>>217322165Nobody who isn’t a low IQ dipshit or a naive teenager can envision a completely classless society that functions well, fantasy or otherwise. There are too many people in the world that require tard wrangling to perform the most minimal of useful tasks to society.
>>217324742And this allows some people to live for free while others have to work or die why exactly?
>>217324742Small tribal units where retards get thrown to the wolves work well
>>217321944aren’t they all the original settlers? what’s the shires immigration policy?
>>217321717>He would be loaded even without going on an adventureHe was. Bilbo was the sun of Bungo Baggins and Belladonna Took, the latter being the heiress to a huge sum of the fortune of the Took clan from their farming empire. It's not really stated outright in the book itself, but the Appendices and preamble do explain that while Hobbits do not mine their own metals to make coins, they do a fuckload of farming and they trade significant amounts of food and pipe-weed with both the people who live on the edge of the Shire (such as Bree) and the Dwarves in the Blue Mountains. The Tooks are one of the largest clans on the outer parts of the Shire, and while they do a lot of farming, they're also the only clan in the Shire that has something of a "military aristocracy". They are the ones who hold the title of "acting king of the Shire" which they inherited and came from the old kingdom of Arnor which existed in the area far in the past. So they're like, super-wealthy by Hobbit standards because they actively deal with foreigners outside the Shire borders and even do some traveling and trading that way.
>>217324773Because they managed to convince people to give them money for something, which they then pay to people with weapons so that people like you can't come and take their money and their stuff. This is basic stuff, man. If you're upset with being poor and want to overthrow the rich, you either need to convince all of the poor people to join with you and throw themselves at the swords of the armies protecting the rich people, or you need to find a way to sell a service or product so you can convince other poor people to give you their money so you can be rich, or you need to convince other rich people to give you their money because they value the thing you provide. If you don't like it, then oh well, because you don't have money to pay people with swords to enforce your will.
>>217324773The idea is that the people who have to work or die — if they possess a worth of more than that — should be inherently capable of either moving up in to a higher class, or if things were truly and unfairly rigged against upward mobility, capable of succeeding in a rebellion to upend the status quo. If people in the upper class were all just idiots resting on their laurels, while many people in the lower class were highly competent but prohibited from improving their status, then things would certainly change. As it stands though, most who do work their way up from a lower class to a higher class only end up recognizing that they were the exception and 90% of lower class people are dregs who deserve their status. Shaniqua and Tyrone’s 90 billion kids are on food stamps not because the world is rigged against them, but because Shaniqua and Tyrone are retards who lack the discipline and intelligence to not have 90 billion kids went they can’t even hold on to a minimum wage job.
>>217321798elevation is way too high
>>217321717Does money even exist in these movies? All the gold seems to kept by dragons and everyone just gets free shit for nothing
>>217321717Houses were free in Hobbiton because they voted for Hilary.
>>217325580I mean, yes, it's very clearly stated both in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies that Dwarves were specifically wealthy because of the gold and mithril they mined and traded. And that Bilbo was rewarded with multiple chests of gold coins, jewels, and things from Thorin when he helped them reconquer Erebor. The books and their extra material go deep into explaining how Bilbo, upon returning from the Lonely Mountain, was free with the gold he gave out and spent, from giving pennies to children to spending extravagant sums on his party. However, the currency of the Shire specifically is referred to as "pennies" or "silver pennies", and it's assumed that they got the coins themselves from the Dwarves who lived just north of the Shire.
