A Natalie Portman popstar movie makes you think kino. You would be incorrect.
it is kino and a huge filter
she's still wearing the Black Swan makeup?
>>217322286So the actress playing her daughter is also playing her younger character?
What the he'll was with the satanic meeting?
It's funny, The Brutalist was way too long while this film was way too short.
>>217322286I don't value this whore much.so, no
>>217322372Yup. Pretty neat, huh?
>HerschelaghThat sounds like a russian witch. Like that would be Baba Yaga's last name too.
>>217322472The Childhood of a Leader is Corbett's only good film. It's been a slow death since then.
Didn't work for me either. She's too hardened, impenetrable. It's too studied for a crazy whirlwind of an industry, but it doesn't cut into the psychology enough.
>>217322286The whole, "we came up with this inspirational pop sung on 9/11" was too fantastical for me to buy.
Is the most important thing really what your angle is?
Brady Corbett is terrible. A dork with no life experience who just tries to make shitty art pieces.

>>217322286It was a good movie but unfortunately they handed the soundtrack to Sia who just isn't a good writer and the finale burns way too much screentime on the mediocre songs. I saw this by chance back to back with Teen Spirit starring Elle Fanning and they make a pretty coherent double feature. Both are about teenage girls coming of age at the same time they're experiencing a rapid unexpected rise to fame, though they take the premise in opposite directions. Teen Spirit is a pretty bland movie by comparison and it needed more time developing the characters so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but it was a neat coincidence that it contrasts well with Vox Lux.
>>217322286It makes me think how much I want to fuck her.
They should have just got one actor who was like 18 to play the 14 year old then just use makeup to make her look older.
>>217322614I thought the acting was great, the writing, direction, and editing needed a lot of work. Also the movie skips over almost entirely how creepy it is that she stayed with the manager that got her teenage self preggers.
Joke's on you, I always think kino.
It's like a shitty version of Anora.
>>217323084Make it a triple feature with Her Smell.
>>217322977I wish I had that career.
Why did she have some goofy regional accent as an adult that she didn't have as a kid?
>>217324678It was an aff3ctation to build up her persona. Duh!
>>217322286I loved it but it felt it should have go on two hours longer instead of just ending abruptly
>>217323880>the writing, direction, and editing needed a lot of workI saw the film with a q&a after with Natalie and the writer/director. His answers were as rambling and unfocused as the film. Natalie barely got to speak as a result.
The Elle Fanning movie Teen Spirit was better.
