What did it do BETTER than the Original Trilogy?
>>
Lore building
Anakin a bit before he gets whiny is easier to root for than Luke, he’s more human. Not perfect
>villains have more depth (tho still shit)
>even tho most of the political shit is slop, it makes the world feel more loved in and diverse
>anakin balancing the light and dark / conflicting thoughts, even tho not fully explored, is one of the more interesting protagonists than just Mary Sue rae or Luke always being good
>>
Lightsaber fights
The Anakin-Obi-Wan fight in RotS might drag on too long but you can't deny it's well-choreographed

Having a hotter female lead. Carrie might have been an 8 but Natalie was closer to a 10

I liked Count Dooku and it looked like Christopher Lee really enjoyed being in the films.

I think the Special Editions of the OT have caused people to forget how wonky the space battles sometimes were in the originals. The models lacked detail and the physics could look unnatural – a good example is how the Falcon floats strangely upwards after saving Luke's X-Wing, moved by some force other than its rear engine.

Like it or not, CG space battles tend look to better, and Episodes I and III have the edge over the original, unedited trilogy in this one respect. Episode II spoiled the space chase with its cartoony asteroids.

Anakin's arc over the 3 films is more compelling than Luke's imo. It's one of the benefits the PT has by nature of the ending being planned from the start.
Episode 3 also feels like a much stronger conclusion than episode 6 because of this.

the PT also does a good job at really showing you as much of the galaxy as possible. In the OT we get Tatooine, hoth, dagobah and endor. Most of these locations are pretty desolate or remote with little life. The most urban area we see in the OT was cloud city and we're not there long.

The PT has so much more variety in settings. We're not just seeing the dilapidated remains of the republic, we're seeing it at its peak.

Video game adaptations.
Natalie Portman was pretty hot, though she never wore a metal bikini so I say that's an even trade.

The lore building sucks. It’s just jangling keys and flashing lights brought to you by early 2000’s CGI. You only get anything out of it if you read five hundred novels and lore encyclopedias, things that didn’t exist when their respective movies came out and thus shouldn’t be considered in any review.
>>
>>217328096
We'll be dead before another Star Wars film explores the galaxy's different species like the prequels did
>>
>>217326115
I love the premise of a republic being corrupted from the inside by a sith lord, I just don't like basically everything about the details of this plot.

The honest answer is nothing but this thread will be filled with mentally-challenged millennials doing mental backflips trying to justify their attachment to this crap.
>>
>>217326115
A better thought out story it is very simply why and how Anakin is put in the suit
The OG just didn't have a real overarching story until the end of empire a new hope it was just Luke stumbling into a big picture without that much reason.

I was surprised Andor had like zero aliens. If they appeared they were mostly in the background. For a series about exploring Star Wars political landscape in a realistic way, they avoided one of the biggest political issues in Star Wars which is how humans coexist with non-human aliens.

It's especially odd because the Empire is all but explicitly human supremacist while the rebellion is filled with examples of human and alien cooperation. It's so odd to me because modern media loves any excuse to explore themes like diversity™, but right when Andor gave them the opportunity to do that perfectly they just completely side-stepped it.

Meanwhile you have Lucas dedicating much of episode 1 and most of the OT/PT to exploring the relations humans have with alien civilizations and droids.
>>
>>217328293
andor was already on a tight budget

1. More accurately reflected George Lucas’ conception of Star Wars.
2. Uhhhh… combat was more dynamic.
>>
>>217328380
Really? It looked like they were throwing money at the screen.
>>
Literally everything? I'm sorry but the acting in the ot is just as bad as the prequels. Look at how they lightsaber fights.
>>
>>217328409
>2. Uhhhh… combat was more dynamic.
You know probably the only thing I liked about the sequels is the combat. Felt like it did the perfect balance of the fun stuff that was introduced in the PT while feeling more in line with the OT.

The factions were infinitely more interesting and so was the tech

It is important that we recognize how strongly the prequels appealed to our brown poo-eating brethren. They truly are garbage movies made for garbage people.
