I enjoyed it since I've always more of a visuals over narrative guy anyway, but then I enjoyed it less when I found out it's apparently based on a documentary and the whole movie is just remaking scenes from the documentary frame for frame which means none of the creativity is coming from Safdie himself.Also makes this Kerr guy look kind of insane because if this is the shit he was willing to say while he was being filmed who knows what was going on when the cameras were off.I almost feel bad for Benny because he and Josh did that "two highly regarded directors that usually work together as a team split up and do their own movie and then you find out which one is the talented one" like what happened with the Coens, the Wachowskis, the John Wick people, probably more I'm forgetting. And then Benny's movie bombs and everyone loves Josh's movie. But then I remember Benny is actually a pretty good actor so at least he still has that to fall back on. I remember when I watched Good Time I saw the ugly fucker that played the brother and thought they picked up a genuinely mentally impaired guy off the street and was very surprised it turned out to be the director of the movie.

Only like a couple of shots are directly from the doc.The documentary has a completely different tone as well, for obvious reasons, no context yet on what will happen to Kerr afterwards. The doc feels more depressing while this film has a lightness to it in general, and this gives a different vibe to certain events.

the documentary is great, I've seen it 2 times, it does steal a couple of scenes but the film has a more mythical feeling to it, I'd say it's a bit different
