Watching Malcolm in the middle and you see just how far we’ve fallen. People aren't all on the internet. Kids are doing hobbies and playing outside. It was almost like racism had disappeared.

What happened? Did occupy wall street really scare some people? Was it normies getting on social media? Did demographic change make it all inevitable? Was it a perfect storm of gender, race and class relations tanking?

Feels like all of the optimism and hope is gone. Post fav eps and scenes.
>>
You are being intellectually dishonest. The working could never have hobbies or go to events, they stayed home and watched tv or did menial labor.
>>
>>217338831
I don’t understand what you’re saying, are you implying that working people couldn’t do anything other than tv and toil?
>>
Everything changed when Paul Walker died.

they actually had the highest buying power and standard of living for any working class in history

movie bob goes on a misogynist rant against Lois, a hard working mother.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqBQzfLDwAA
Bob really is Left in name only. He hates women. Notice how Reese, Francis, Hal and Malcolm don't get any of his ire. Only the mother. Says a lot.

>What happened?
It began with Facebook, then iPhones, then 3G brought it all together, dating apps followed, Instagram, Tiktok. It's been a long downward spiral spanning decades.

Mobile internet was a mistake
All internet connections should require wires

1. It’s a fictional show
2. You’re right about the less racism. Chuds have made most of Gen Z men racists
3. Wages have remained the same for the working class and have gone up x20 for the upper class.
4. Social media and the Internet destroyed a lot of societal fabric
5. American city design makes playing outside impossible
>>
>>217338707
Social media was the new gold rush. Tech companies began optimizing their algorithms to keep people "engaged" and mentally locked onto their platforms to make as much money as possible.
Kids DO spend their free time doing hobbies. It's just that 90% of them have "scrolling online" as their number one hobby.
Kids don't even have favorite TV shows anymore. They have favorite youtubers and thousands of hours of mindless nonlinear content to stare at.

NIMBYism and the Karenification of the suburban mother.
When I was a kid in the 90s there was an older couple (probably late 60s) who loved having the neighborhood kids play in their yard. She'd leave her kids' old toys out for us. He fixed up the basketball hoop for kids to play in the driveway. They loved being a part of the community.

This summer I had a cop knock on my door because some bitch on our street saw my kid riding a non-motorized scooter in our cul de sac "unsupervised" and thought the best course of action was to call 911

Kids stopped going outside and playing when the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era came along.

>This sitcom perfectly represented society at the time, instead of being a fictional work of entertainment meant to be used as escapism from the anxieties of daily life at the time like getting anthrax in your fuckin mailbox and planes flying into some of the most iconic American buildings or America soldiers getting decpitated and burnt alive in Iraq because we were told the country was going to kill every last one of us with its scary weapons of mass destruction

This. When you look at old photos of baseball crowds, they're always wearing tophats and monocles.

The left and Jews brought back racism to destroy and divide society to re-exert their control. Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party absolutely terrified them that people were uniting outside of their manufactured party lines and they decided to put a stop to it any way they could. Now we live in a hellscape of blind ideological hatred and derangement.

Yeah for fucking 30 years you retard. Literally just from 1945-1975. After and before that we have been a country of rich oligarchs and working peasants, albiet, with the greatest ability to move up (and down) in the wealth chain. Even that has flatlined since the end of the 90's and was dead in 2019.

I do wonder about this. Cause there was big stuff like the LA riots, but I don't know, on a day to day level, it seemed less hostile and in your face. That's anecdotal and maybe I just didn't notice cause I was a kid. But the performative culture stuff that really doesn't accomplish anything, like melting down Confederate statues or changing Columbus Day to "Indigenous People's Day" wasn't there, and the white guilt, hysteria over "It's okay to be white." seemed like present.

And I was born in 1987. We had Black History Month and we learned about the Civil Rights Movement, but there was less seethe and Democrats weren't bowing down wearing kente cloth. A show as mainstream and liberal as SNL could make fun of Johnny Cochran for race pandering, Hank Azaria was Apu, and you could eat tacos without worrying about "cultural appropriation."

>What happened?
Jews
>OMG POL conspiracy theories
It's literally jews, central banks removed the gold standard and then they were hard at work lobbying and cheating the banking systems for the next decades to spring the trap with the 2008 recession and cripple the middle class forever. That's why hundreds of companies got "bailouts" and the people got fucked.
From then on you can see the rise of nothing companies. Billion dollar enterprises that basically use infinite money schemes circulating interest and loans to each other because the country keeps printing more money for them while not really producing anything of value, most notable tech giants, hedge funds, and all manner of government contractors

That's because you were a kid and also we didn't have smart phones or youtube channels whose entire existence is based around reacting to ragebait.

The news of the world only existed in newspapers, and then the evening news on TV or the radio. Even 24-hour news channels were an exception and they mostly aired fluff pieces about the world's largest pumpkin in Nebraska instead of running pieces about the terrible genocide taking place in the far-off exotic land of wherever.

It didn't follow you into your bed or in the toilet or anywhere, there was no algorithm to serve you the sloppiest of ragebait, there was no infinite doom scrolling.
>>
>>217342879
You could dial directly into your friends to do pvp in the 90s. My friend and I would make doom wads and hand off 3.5" disks at school, install them, then dial in and deathmatch each other. The 90s version of the internet fucking ruled.

It was close to what material conditions in public were right. Back when companies and media etc actually made an effort and tried to make things nice. Everything became cheap and ugly after the 2008 recession and has gotten uglier and cheaper since.

1. You're a retard
2. "Chuds have made everyone racist" - in 1992, more than 60% of Americans said that they believed that interracial marriage was morally wrong.
This is the least racist time in history, it cost turning everything into propoganda, but you got it.
The tide's turning now, people are starting to admit to seeing the obvious.
3. "Wages have stayed the same for the working class"
- That's a lie, the fact that people never specify if they are talking about mean, median, mode, or k-mean, or how exactly they are defining 'working class' is kind of the obvious hint.
- let me tell you about this wonderful thing called 'inflation'
- wages are a poor measure of how people are doing, since it doesn't consider work hours, unemployment percentage, or expenses - and is often calculated "per household", which is a big thing considering the change in working women over the past few decades. Economists typically use Median Wealth, and there's a reason you haven't seen THAT graph.

Tell me you're young without telling me you're young. My comment was discussing how material standards and perceived quality of experience in public and private were in general very high, which enhanced real-world experiences and provided at the very least the veneer of quality and consideration of the public and customer, utilizing a comparison picture of the stark changes in the presentation of the same company then and now. But you continue sperging against the machine and being le heckin' philosopher-king who lifts the veil to reveal The Truth, cynical little Zoomie commenting on a world you did not experience and seething as cope.

I see this now. The problem with you is you have no kids and you do not belong to a family with proper hobby choices. That's on you because most of you these days are brown. And don't give that half white bullshit. One drop rule. You're brown and you'll die brown.

That's what I liked about the Middle, the plot is carried by slow Internet and bad reception. Since 2007, media still needs characters with a connection to no connection to move stories.

It was 9/11. The cumulative effect of that psyop was devastating beyond measure. The USA went from optimism and confidence to complete demoralisation virtually overnight. It's like the west still has collective PTSD from that day.
