Avant-garde masterpiece
>>
>>217341872
This but unironically. Movies shot on digital need to stop trying to emulate film.
>>
>>217341872
>unironically genius cinematography
>bold editing choices
>kino kill cams
>probably the funniest joke in modern cinema when Spike talks about Erik's gf
>kino ending with the Jimmy gang and the way they were built up across the film was well executed
I just wish the CGI wasn't so spotty and I think it's retarded that that village would actually allow a dad and a 12 year old kid to leave alone
>>
>>217341889
>>217342055
Literally the reason why i'm not looking forward to the sequel. Characters are engaging enough but what's the point of these movies if they don't look like cheap digital video? It's such an integral part of the experience

>Avant-garde masterpiece
Agreed. Completely pretentious trash.

this has got to be then biggest pseud bait next to 2001 and blade runner.

Last couple of years we've really been "blessed" with these kinds of avant-garde cinesloppas.
>The Matrix Resurrections
>Men
>Three Thousand Years of Longing
>God Is a Bullet
>Rebel Moon
>Megalopolis
>In the Lost Lands
>28 Years Later
>>
>>217343394
see the difference is that 28YL is good

Should we add the Avatar sequels to that list?

>>217343455
All of them are good.

1. 28 Years Later
2. Megalopolis
3. Three Thousand Years of Longing
4. Rebel Moon
5. Men
6. The Matrix Resurrections
Haven't watched the others

>Men
Also not even a Snyder fan could defend Rebel Moon, love Zack but he's absolute dogshit as a cinematographer
>>
>>217343394
thanks for the recs
>>

Rebel Moon is overall very solid, especially Snyder's camera work. You need to watch a high quality version of it, not some dogshit 7GB Netflix rip. Movie's only actual weak points are poor expository dialogue and that absolute gut punch of a phoned-in ending reveal.
>>
>>217343686
not him but the rebel moons sucked, snyder really lost his touch. Upping the graphic quality is not what the movie needs to be better and it’s far from “overall very solid”
>>
>>217341872
More like avant-garland

bro...

it will be appreciated in a time, mark my words. Audiences weren't ready for the kino
>>
>>217343660
Forgot to mention Athena. That's another recommendation.

>>217343757
You don't know shit.

>>217343822
I've watched it three times. It's mostly good.

henever had one

absolute doghsit movie.
Only the intro with the father-son is salvageable
>>
>>217341872
I really enjoyed it but felt the Jimmy Saville's power ranger gang ending felt too tacked on. It was fun but wholly in service of setting up the sequel and ultimately a disservice to what could've been an emotionally impactful film.

I don't really understand why he hated his dad so much to the point of drawing a knife on him

I'm seeing Bone Temple tomorrow, and re-watching this now. A film of two halves

How involved is Boyle in the new one? I don't like that they switched directors and DPs
>>
>>217346338
Just a producer. Both him and Garland were on pre production for completely unrelated projects when this was shot.
>>
>>217341872
So it's shit? Hated the first one. Will I like this niggress directed sequel?

All Wrong

>probably the funniest joke in modern cinema when Spike talks about Erik's gf
It is a solid joke

>kino ending with the Jimmy gang and the way they were built up across the film was well executed
Correct

I can see the appeal of the cinematography, editing, and use of phone cameras in 28DL. It does seem like some unholy relic sent to us from a parallel timeline where everything went wrong.

But the cinematography, editing, and use of phone cameras in 28YL was horrendous. It was extremely anti-immersive, and not even enjoyable in any other way. It almost felt like a student production at many times.
>>
>>217346338
Audiences are reacting a lot more positive to this on
>>
>come on guys, empathize with this rage virus infected freak that would sooner kill and eat you than give you a crumb
No, I don't think I will.
