>Admit that you fucked up. Admit that you were scared. That you hate yourself. That there's some days you don't think you deserve to live, and the only thing that’ll make you forget is by being someone else.
>>217342886Is this that chuck show? I watched a couple episodes and it was dogshit. You can tell hader is living up his own ass. Your taste stinks.
>>217342886His evolution into The Raven was pretty based
the problem this show ran into is that rather than doing what good shows do which is present a morally questionable character who allows you to make your own judgement about the character and their actions it switches into the main character, the show, and the other characters in the show telling you, directly, the viewer, that what the main character is doing is in fact bad and should not be celebrateddropping the pretense of the show could be interesting if they were to do it in an interesting way but instead the last two seasons were>erm actually... being a hitman is... prrrrettty bad!!what a statement, in the real world killing people is bad and has consequences, how interesting
>>217343192that and it stopped even trying to be a comedy. hader is an unfunny pseud hack and he ruined south park btw
>>217343192I can agree with this. I like this show all the way through but the better seasons that you mentioned feel like a satire on everything which I do think they tried to maintain even in the last season but it's far too unbalanced. It feels like a lot was written after asking themselves "Why do they not care more about how Barry would be perceived in reality?"
>>217343192yep, very quickly devolved into pseud shit and its mostly hader huffing his own farts
>>217342886When I googled this dialogue with the greater than sign that makes in greentext google's AI thinks I want to commit suicide and gives me the number of a crisis hotline. Without the sign it just gives me a link to reddit.
>>217343192While I really like the show there's no doubt that Hader has flaws in the way he's directing/writing.Barry worked well as a more reactionary character. He's a pushover and most of the stuff he does is because other people force him into it. That works well, him being a very talented assassin but lacks any agency. It becomes a problem when Barry starts acting more independently. It feels like you don't really know the character or his motives. How smart is he? What exactly does he want? Like, one moment that stood out for me was when he talked about doing psychological shit to the girl his girlfriend hated, exchanging her dog with a similar dog and moving her furniture around slightly. When has he ever been about doing stuff like that?Another problem is when things become a bit too subtle. I rewatched the show about a year ago and read some of the interviews Hader made where he discussed each episode. At times he'd say "yeah, what's going on in this scene is X, and Barry is thinking Y". But that wasn't really made clear in the show. There is planning and thoughts behind the scenes but it's not always conveyed well.
