In the book, it was about 2 years, so Alia was 2, toddling around. If they made it 5 or 6 years, you could get an actual walking child who could maybe deliver the lines. Instead they went the other direction and cut her out altogether. So everything that happens in the movie, including Paul taking a whole summer to walk across the desert, happens in less than 8 months.

Lynch's Dune is such a better movie. This scene is absolutely 10/10. Dunc is TRASH.
