Would you say this guy has garnered a legacy as a actor now that we're 17 years removed from his death, or just a "Oh yeah that one guy from the 80's"
He’s an 80s Mount Rushmore kinoseur
>>217347151what's the difference between swayze, russell, bridges and kilmer
>>217347151Wait he died???
>>217347151Maybe
>>217347151Once he had that 4 year period when he made>Dirty Dancing>Road House>Ghost>Point Breakhis legacy was set already. Add a couple of notable supporting roles and it's easy to see why he's still remembered.
>>217347303Swayze was the suave romance leading man, Russell's the American hero, Bridges is the everyman, Kilmer was the heavy.
>>217347151Ask Gen Z kinosseurs if they know who he is. They will know Brando, De Niro, Pacino, Pitt, Depp, Cruise, and so on.
Oh yeah that one guy that reminds me of guys I fucked in prison
>>217349742>Point BreakWhy didn't we get an alternate ending where Keanu fell in with his surfer bros and robbed banks?
>>217349798Is that a compliment or an observation?
>>217347151He was too relentlessly handsome for this world.
>>217349742>>217347151>zach effron of the 90’s That work?
>>217349826retard zoomer
>>217349814I suppose that's eventually what happened in The Fast and the Furious Franchise, in which the first movie is almost an exact carbon copy of Point Break, it's just surfing vs street racing.
>>217349742I think his best was Red Dawn
>>217349862Kino!
>>217347151>Does this actor have a legacy? Or is he just "That guy from the 80s"?He's an actor. That's what a legacy is.
>>217349835hell no
here he is in his latest movie, yes, the one where Biel took off her top
>>217349835I honestly hope you're just baiting but Zac Efron never had anything as massively popular and even influential as Ghost or Dirty Dancing. Swayze was a legit star in those years whose name alone sold tickets. Even before these roles he played one of the main chars in Coppola's coming-of-age movie, starred next to Hackman in Tedd Kotcheff's (Rambo/First Blood) Vietnam drama and John Milius picked him as a lead for his own Red Dawn. Again, all this before his big breakthroughs. >>217349862Check out his last TV show, the police drama he made while he was one foot in the grave already. It's called The Beast. It only has 13 episodes but it's some of the best work he's ever done. I like to believe he went all-in for the last ride the same way as Raul Julia did with Street Fighter because his son loved the franchise.
>>217349742I liked picrel tooSwayze was charismatic afOne of the goats of 80-90sMy mom also was wet for him.
>>217349862>be me>always thought red dawn did Russians dirty, too caricature evil>mfw when in reality they are way worse
>>217350359>idiot who misses botted starship threads also thinks russians are subhuman (because he can't say they're losing)just lol
>>217347303I enjoyed more Swayze films than the others'. Carving out his own corner when so many leading men were around is impressive.
>>217347151when you do a performance like Point Break it overrides any other achievement and puts you in the Pantheon of legends.
>>217347303>difference betweenThey are in totally different actor ranks... Val is 4th as he barely made anything as a lead that anyone cares about. Yet he was very good in a support role in Top Gun and Tombstone. Patrick had a few near iconic roles in Road House, Dirty Dancing and maybe Ghost.. Yet he was mostly just the good looking bad boy type. Yet people still talk about his films more than him.Where as Kurt Russell and Jeff Bridges are both now viewed as Hollywood royalty. Well past any sort of single role or handful of movies. Jeff being more drama roles and Kurt being more action and action comedy. I kind of view Patrick like Kevin Bacon... Bunch of films, know star but that's it. One could also argue that Kurt being so beloved in Hollywood is just from have way better Hollywood connection then the other three combined. Guy's made a ton of films and worked with top directors. From teen star to old dude. Goldy is a star, their kids grew into movie stars. Kurt is just on a whole other level. Patrick was just a basic working actor
