Reading his books should tell you that he's more interested in world building than plotlines anyway. He's also been completely blown out by the internet and AI making searching for niche historical knowledge really easy, thereby making all his smug retard parallels and allegories look retarded and easily disprovable.

His niche was ironically in the 90s and to a lesser extent the 00s - if he had finished his works then he wouldn't be remembered so negatively, all inaccuracies could be forgiven, and people pointing out how he's just ripped off the War of the Roses would be met with fair critique that he was pulling on limited sources.

By today's standards he just seems stupid and lazy. Plus his nihilism and negativity is increasingly outdated to Gen Z, who want hope and optimism in their nihilistic and negative lives.
