this movie doesnt deserve the hate it gets
>>
>>217350382
the audience didn't deserve watching those two asshole kids
>>
On this board I think it gets a lot more praise than hate.
It has aged well and been re-evaluated more positively compared to other more recent films in the genre + other films called War of the Worlds
>>
>>217350382
It most certainly does.
>>
>>217350382
One of the only movies I've ever seen that was truly horrifying, great movie in my book

>The kids were annoying

No shit have you ever been around a kid chud?
>>
>>217350382
It's hated? Visuals are incredibly good, and the premise is great as well, ultimately the alien operation fails because they didn't account for a changing climate that made them sick and killed the whole takeover Earth project
>>
>>217350633
The operation failed because the aliens seemingly didn't know what a microbe is, when it's nearly impossible to imagine a tree of life or biosphere without them
>>
>>217350561
>One of the only movies I've ever seen that was truly horrifying

what a dumb nigger
>>
>>217350382
This is another one of those mid-2010 era movies that was considered average/mediocre when it came out but now should be elevated to the level of masterpiece because of how shitty movies have become.
>>
>uh uh le kids
>um le aliens not knowing germ theory is totally scientifically inaccurate
do you faggots even hear yourselves? holy fuck.
>>
>>217350382
watched this movie when I was a kid and it unironically made me cry. That close-up shot of that woman getting dusted...
>>
>>217350382
Screaming Annoying Girl The Movie is indeed deserving of all the hate and more.
>>
>>217350382
I fucking Dakota because of this movie.
>>
>>217350685
Have you considered that the Aliens might have been stupid?
>>
>>217350561
It holds up as a surprisingly great horror movie and aged much better than comparable shit like 2012 and day after tomorrow. Dakota is truly awful though and more because all the precocious child stuff (has anyone liked that trope in anything ever??) than the endless screeching
>>
>>217350845
This flick came out in 2005, zoomeroid
>>
>>217350382
I've only ever fucking heard people saying it doesn't deserve hate.
I've yet to see the so-called hate.
Avatar doesn't deserve the hate it gets.
The 1993 mario movie doesn't deserve the hate it gets.
I've yet to see fucking anybody hate Spielberg's War of the Worlds.
My only problem with it is it didn't take place in the 1890s.
>>
>>217350382
>EMP knocks everything out except camcorders
>Dakota Fanning being fucking annoying
>tripod rises from the ground, destroys everything and Manny somehow doesn't see or hear a thing
>Tom Cruise being Tom Cruise
>the other kid being fucking annoying
That's in the first ten minutes, gets worse from there
>>
>>217350845
>mid-2010
Retard.
>>
>>217352333
The only thing I remember people hating when it came out was the ridiculous happy ending where the wife, her family, and the son have all unfathomably survived. I cannot think of another movie ending that utterly ruins the experience the same way
>>
>>217350382
This movie is not great not terrible really. The scene from OP where walkers attack people with lasers is pretty cool.
>>
LOOK AT THE BIRDS
WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU
LOOK AT THE BIRDS
WHAT?
NO SHIELD
WHAT?
THERE'S NO SHIELD

It starts really strong and the attack sequence is awesome. You can see Spielberg got really fired up and inspired by the 9/11 footage. Movie starts petering out when they come to Tim Robbins' house and the ending is just a wet fart. But that's in the source material, those early techno thriller novels all have shit endings (compare the lame ending of Dracula). You need to change those and deepen them for the movies like they did in the original Nosferatu.
>>
>>217350382
I saw it in theater and all I could hear was Dakota Fanning shrieking for two hours. Took me like like 18 years to finally watch it on a home setup. Actually liked it with the audio properly mixed
>>
>>217350382
I always thought it was kinda disturbing for FSK12 or PG-13 or whatever
>>
Everyone in the movie is an idiot until Tom Cruise comes along, it's a pattern
>>
>>217352435
I mean that's how the Wells book ended too. Main character and his woman survived and germs killed the martians.
>>
>>217352520
>compare the lame ending of Dracula
The one where they fucking stab him and chop off his head while Van Helsing kills Dracula's wives?
That's a cool goddamn ending, anon.
>>
>>217350845
>mid-2010
It's from 2005, you retard moron piece of shit loser
>>
>>217352548
If it was just the ex wife alive but looking battered it’d be one thing. But all of them alive, together in a cushy house is pushing it
>>
>>217352659
I don't buy that shit. Characters don't have to die just for the sake of drama or even probability. In fact I consider unnecessary character death as bad as or arguably worse than characters surviving when they absolutely shouldn't.
If they can survive there's nothing to say they shouldn't survive.
But then happy endings don't bother me. I don't consider it a cliche.

No it's not. They take an uneventful trip to transilvania, they find a corpse in a coffin and chop its head off with no problem or obstacle in their way whatsoever. It's completely anti-climactic, just like the ending of War of the worlds. Compare that to the ending of Nosferatu, where the vampire gets tricked, there is self sacrifice, an emotional climax and agency from the involved characters leading to real tragedy (the characters' downfall is their inherent nature). It's vastly superior to "then we drove over there, chopped his head off, the end"
>>
>>217352748
>Nosferatu
>good ending
So youre a tranny
>>
>>217352748
>"then we drove over there, chopped his head off, the end"
Demons aren't powerful, anon.
>>
>>217350382
Didn't have a Thunderchild scene so it was dogshit. The closest we got was that gay scene of the military getting rekt and we don't get to see any of it.
>>
Attack on Titan was a better War of the Worlds than this.
>>
>>217352761
No, I am a German, as was Murnau. Anglo faggots like you wouldn't understand depth and tragedy.
>>
>>217352548
No that would be like if the crew of the Thunderchild showed up at the end.
>>
>>217352808
Tom Cruise didn't sire the entire crew of the Thunderchild.
>>
>>217352788
Attack on Titan is dogshit that nigs and latinx mistake for "deep" because it's slightly above run-of-the-mill shounen tripe.
>>
>>217350845
wrong decade notwithstanding, you are 100% right
>>
>>217352333
Avatar deserves way more hate
>>
>>217352435
That's the same feeling I had when I watched godzilla minus one
>>
>>217352333
The 1993 Mario movie absolutely deserves the hate, it's shit.
Avatar deserves even more hate, it's the modern art of movies, its success based entirely on marketing and dimwits.
You should eat more cocks.

>>
>>217352831
And? Still better than this shit solely for the Rumbling. That's the feeling WotW is supposed to inspire.
>>
>>217352879
Yes, but then I settled on fucking your disgusting pig of a mother. Even that whore knows avatar is gay.
>>
>>217350382
it certainly does; not only is it a bad movie, it also marks when spielberg stopped making kino (apart from tintin)
>>
>>217350488
When op mentions "the hate it gets" he means from 2-3 posters on here or a jay baumann type online
>>
>>217350633
Another letterbox psy-op to hate on a solid movie, troons are doing the same with tootsies its imdb rating has dropped from 8.1 to 7 4 and war of the worlds from 7.5 to 6.6
>>
It's so fucking stupid when the refugees run up the hill when the military are fighting the pods.
>>
This is literally worse than the book, I don't understand why the book couldn't be repeated
>>
>>217352967
>jeet response

>AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I WANT MOMMY NOW REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Um actually the kid screaming the entire movie is realistic
>WWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAA
Uhhh, kids scream in real life, chuddie, so it's okay for a movie character to do literally nothing but scream
>SCREEEEEEEEEE
I like the sound of a shrill screaming child going off for half the movie's runtime
>Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã AAAAAAÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
Listen buddy anyone who dislikes Dakota Fanning's shrieking probably beats kids in real life

Any movie that isn't Holy Mountain - esque 3 hour DMT trip into the deep recesses of human mind reflected through symbolic imagery as to why we all want our mothers to be secretly troons is not a movie worth watching
>>
>>217352520
I don't recall if the novel ends the same way, I think it was the Jeff Wayne version, where the protagonist gives up on life and basically says "1v1 me cunt" as he runs straight toward the tripods only for the pilots to die of AIDS before they can stomp on him.

Like I care that some Anglo bot with a fat whore mother who likes avatar thinks I'm Indian? Your mother really didn't shit you out of the right hole, did it Saar?
>>
>>217353547
In the novel they just suddenly die of microbes and then it makes a point that really the west are the aliens and the shit skins are the people and nature will crush all empires or some shot. Didactic und unthrilling.
>>
>>217350382
It's only "good" up until they meet Tim Robbins character. I guess he is supposed to be the artilleryman but of course spielberg portrays him as a conspiracy weirdo. The film is fumbled from this point forward.
Half a great movie, half a shit.
>>
>>217350382
/tv/ mostly likes it. The only criticism i see is the kids were annoying.

At least this one had actual fucking tripids and not floaty generic 1950s sci slop
>>
>>217350845
Well done on making all these jeets seethe for some reason
>>
>>217352333

Avatar gets way less hate than it deserves. James Cameron should be burned at a stake for making Avatar. That movie series is an attack on the human soul itself.

>>
>>217350685
They had the alien equivalent of RFK governing them.
>>
>>217353066
I had the same reaction as every single other human being who ever watched it; great movie with annoying screeching kid and dopey teenager. Upon rewatch I softened a little. She's a 10 year old. Their brains are mush. That's exactly how she'd act during an alien invasion. Probably literally piss and shit herself too. Robbie was still a twat though.

>>217350685
The premise was a lot more plausible when the book was written in the 19th century, and the connection between bacteria and disease had only just recently become general knowledge. At that point, germs weren't some sort of obvious basic aspect of life that everyone would clearly know about, but rather a cutting-edge modern scientific discovery.

It's a bit like how the aliens get defeated by a computer virus in Independence Day. It felt plausible enough in the 90s when the internet was new and people were getting pwn'd by hackers all the time, but now it's laughably absurd that the aliens wouldn't have any cyber security at all.
>>
>>217356031
I cope by saying the germs were vastly different from when they buried they spacecraft, maybe they didnt account for human industrial and health care revolutions which majorly changed stuff

or not IDK
