I've been reading up about cable news channels in S. Korea, and I think CNN should follow the Korean model
>the main conservative news channel in S. Korea experienced plummeting rating due to viewers moving to conspiracy YouTubers for spicier content
>instead of trying to make their news go full schizo, they pivot to being music channel for old people, like 50+
>half the prime time programming is American Idol-type shows, but they're trying to find the next top crooner, like Michael Buble-type, who will sing all the classics boomers love
>the other half is the winners of the previous rounds singing the classics with a non-political talk show in the middle
>the channel goes from losing money to record profit in six months

So, stop trying to compete with Fox News with "more news but different." Figure out what else the core cable news demographic (i.e. old boomers) wants and can't get from other sources and provide that. Async media like YouTube and Insta can play back old musical performances, but they can't provide the thrill or drama of music competition where any of the top 5 competitors could potentially win.
