Remind me, what reasons (beyond contrarianism) did this board have for shitting on this film so relentlessly? It's technically impeccable, you've got a cool creepy villain, plenty of practical effects and good scares. Only thing I disliked (or rather did not see the point of) was the prologue at the cabin -- I don't see what purpose it serves beyond a rugpull.Now with the new Mummy trailer out, people are once again shitting on something they haven't even seen yet, ignoring Cronin's track record.

There's a degree of comedy that goes along with the Evil Dead series and I don't mind them trying to go a more serious route but the Deadites have a personality that this just didn't nail. There's this movie Prince of Darkness. And this evil container is affecting like the whole building but also the near by homeless population. That's what this should have been. The playing of the record, the releasing of the evil should have corrupted the whole area. And just drawn bad shit to them. I can't explain it exactly but a cabin in the wood with a cellar somehow presents more dangerous spaces, more of a threat than the apartment full of tenants.
